La cittadina, nel cui centro troneggia una imponente chiesa pre-romanica in marmo bianco (monumento nazionale), dista 23 chilometri dall’aeroporto internazionale di Malpensa, 1 ora di auto da Milano (dati Google) ed é in mezzo a quattro laghi, oltre a il Maggiore, lago di Monate, lago di Varese balneabili e lago di Comabbio, non balneabile ma con affascinante percorso ciclopedonale.
