Athelstane cottage is located in the heart of the Wisconsin Northwoods trail system. We have direct trail access from the property. We are about 1000 feet from a 24 hour gas station, an award winning supper club and fully stocked convenience store. Athelstane Cottage has all modern day amenities for your stay with a true Northwoods atmosphere. Let us be your host for your next Wisconsin Northwoods vacation!

Athelstane Cottage is great for the outdoors-loving group! We are close to many places where you can enjoy activities such as boating, fishing, rafting, hiking, and more. We even have on-site access to miles of hiking trails and you can drive your ATV or snowmobile straight onto the trail from the cottage. Near Athelstane, there is an abundance of waterfalls, including Long Slide Falls, Dave's Falls, and Bull Falls. All of these waterfalls are surrounded by beautiful hiking trails. Some of the nearby parks include Peshtigo River State Forest, Governor Thompson State Park, and Twelve Foot Falls Park.

Close to everything we wanted to do

Close by to my family's cabin, which can't fit my entire extended family. Supper club within walking distance. Tons of waterfalls in the area and hiking. Cabin is so cozy. Property management replies fast! This is our second stay and my husband and I love it.

Nice Getaway

Nice home in a convenient location. Near ATV, Snowmobile trail head. Quiet area. Close to Nimrod Inn for food. House was clean and comfortable. Would not hesitate to go back!

Peefect pet friendly place for trail riding!

We were looking for a nice pet friendly stay that would give us access to do some trail riding and this was perfect. We were able to leave the house right on our UTV. The house was very nice and comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful location. Would definitely stay here again!

The cottage was all we expected and more. It was home base for our waterfall weekend and had everything we needed. Enjoyed a great fire with the fire ring. Has a charcoal grill. Would stay again

Awesome Vacation

We were so happy with our stay at this cottage. It was so nice and clean and had everything we needed. If you want a rental that is so quiet and serene, this is your place. It was very easy to get in touch with the hosts with any questions that came up. There were restaurants nearby too.

Fabulous stay

Everything was great! Nice location. Only 10 minutes away from my family reunion. The place had everything we needed. It was quiet, cozy, and plenty of room. Unfortunately, we were unable to take advantage of the campfire pit. My husband and I hope to return soon with a longer stay.

1st impression when arriving was great. Exterior of property well taken care of. Plenty of roo. To park trucks and trailers. Located right next to trails. Interior of home was very comfortable and Plenty of room for everyone. Had everything we needed to make meals. Would recommend if going to the area.

Weekend Adventures

After our original VRBO had to be canceled last minute for an unforseen property problem. Our hosts at Athelstane Cottages were more than welcoming to have our family and two dogs stay at theirs. The property was so cute and clean. Our hosts were quick to respond back if I had a question as well. Enjoyable stay !

It was a decent place to sleep, and great location for accessing the off road trails. In regards to location though, you are on display on the Main Street going through this tiny town. No back yard, no privacy in front. There is a lot of traffic, and they do not obey the speed limit. Also, no convenience store or anywhere to get supplies for about 30 miles.We got a visit from a very large pitbull on our last day. My wife hid in the house with our pup until I was able to get the animal to go back to its owner. It was a scary and stressful situation as my wife is deathly afraid of the breed.We did have a great time on the trails! Some of the best in the state! Just don’t go during the week. Everything is closed! We saw 2 places to eat/drink, and rode 250 miles in total. Neither place was open. Pack food. Pack beverages. There is no cell service in the area, so be sure to take an emergency radio!
