Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis. Elk City was named for Elk Creek, Which runs through the city. It also known for Highway 14, the end of the line in a remote area. Breathtaking views! Hot springs, hiking trails, and the best part about staying in this spacious cabin is the hunting and fishing availability.

Elk City is home to this holiday home. While the natural beauty of Selway River and Selway Falls can be enjoyed by anyone, those looking for an activity can head to Red River Hot Springs.
Wonderful cabin. 2 issues. Toilet leaked in the bathroom near the main bedroom and a ceiling leak near the washer/dryer area when it rained. We had wonderful stay.
This is a beautiful cabin in a beautiful place. You can really feel that is was built with thought, care, and skill. We had a few challenges finding it and had to ask for directions in town, but finding help was easy. Everyone we encountered in the community was kind and hospitable-Elk City is wonderful and the surrounding country is breathtaking. Just make sure you have your directions dialed in before you leave cell service and you will have a great time!
Very comfortable inside and out as there is a large, covered deck, ample living room furniture, pretty good beds and two nice bathrooms. Overall size inside is super roomy too with a large kitchen area. Full size fridge with freezer. The WiFi was great, easy streaming on the TV. Full size washing machine and dryer is a nice touch. Could easily accommodate six adults with floor space for some kids - could put cots in bedrooms or living area. Everything worked! Great location from which to explore the surrounding area. Isolated, peaceful and quiet but only 10 minutes into Elk City which has a great General Store with good groceries, supplies, etc. Even a limited selection of spirits.

Property is about 5 miles out of Elk City and the last mile of the road is gravel in excellent shape. Google Maps location is not correct - see screenshot for correct location. Cabin was adequately but sparsely furnished and in good shape. As of 2025 it was 7 years old according to owner. Some plumbing quirks and some of the electrical outlets or lighting did not work. No hair dryers as advertised but linens and towels were fine. Working washer and dryer and paper products were provided. Propane BBQ provided.
This is the second year that we have stayed at one of the "Prospector" cabins. Some friends have had summer gatherings at a cabin down the road, and these cabins are within easy walking distance. Otherwise, the cabins are located out in the middle of nowhere, which is awesome. This cabin was spacious, well-stocked, and very comfortable. Check-in was the easiest of any vacation rental we have ever stayed at. The first time we stayed at one of these Prospector cabins (last year) it was a little difficult to find, but since we knew where it was this year that made it way easier. The location on Google Maps that was provided in the VRBO listing was inaccurate, so we're not sure whether that has been corrected. The GPS coordinates for this cabin are: 45.874590,-115.446412. One minor thing was that there was no shampoo or soap provided except some liquid hand soap. However, the cabin we stayed at last year had about 20 little shampoos and conditioners. So, your mileage may vary.

The cabin was nice, not complaints there. Unfortunately the caretaker (assume) took our tarp we had on the front porch one day while we were out that we used to keep our gear dry during our trip out and back to CA. Pretty bummed about that
