Very nice stay!

We stayed for a quick winter gathering with family that is spread out - I would love to stay in the summer and take advantage of the biking in the area. Nice accommodations!

Peaceful location, right on the bike trail

We had a very nice long weekend in this house. Loved the location, right on the trail. Yet very peaceful, relaxing. I would rather not have a carpet, but other than that, the house was confortable, clean, with everything you need. We would like to go back.

Any great activities

Awesome location. We went for long bike rides. Nearby restaurants in Lanesboro were a treat. We also disc golfed and went kayaking. The bike trails are only about 250 feet away. Great vacation!

Cyclin Inn Stay

Great location only steps from the Root River Trail. Our two day stay was enjoyable. The house was very accommodating for our group of three couples. The front porch with a porch swing and rocking chairs was a great spot to relax after a bike ride. The quiet little town of Whalan was the perfect place to stay to enjoy the bike trail. Would recommend this house to anyone exploring the area as it is centrally located.

Great stay near bike trail

Half of our group of 11 people stayed at the Cyclin-Inn. We loved our long weekend at both houses. We usually ate our dinners at this house and were comfortable with the group there. The house is right next to the bike trail, which we rode every day. Bike rentals are only a few blocks away, so very convenient. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had, and were helpful to us. Overall it was a lovely stay. The other house (Cyclin-Up Inn) is just a short walk up the hill behind this house.

Clean, comfortable, quiet & convenient to Lanesboro

Our family of four enjoyed our stay here along the Root River bike trail. Located at the end of a road, so no car traffic whatsoever. We enjoyed lazy breakfasts on the porch swing in the morning and lazy baths in the jacuzzi at night. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals at home. We also made use of the many games and movies that were provided. A good value. I would book again.

Very nice location and residence.

Found the location to be ideal. There were only two of us but this would be very accommodating for a large group. The only disappointment was that we had to pay for 4 guests. Did not see this spelled out within the initial reservation process. With this said, I would still recommend staying here. Very nice.

Great and so close to bike trail

This is a great place to stay if you want a lovely peaceful relaxing couple of days. It has all the things you need to make your stay great. Really is fantastic that it is so close to the bike trail and a short drive to Lansboro. We stayed during the week and not much open on Monday and had a hard time finding place to eat that night but still great place Says it sleeps 7 but the one bed upstairs is very small and 7 includes a futon in master so not really comfortable 7 Overall it worked out fine for us and that area is just so fun to visit and biking is the best!!

Quiet, nicely furnished home on the bike trail

Clean home with a great assortment of kitchen dishes and cookware, wonderful large hottub in the bathroom. Two of the bedrooms were very nice for couples as they had a queen or king bed but one bedroom only had a double, which was too small for 2 adults. Nice garage to safely store bikes. Tammy respnded quickly to emails.

Wonderful setting with many outdoor opportunities

This "family retreat" is adjacent to the root river bike trail and the river itself. It offers a quiet and restful setting for a variety of activities, most all of which our family engaged. Our host was helpful, and the village setting is a comfortable one. While sleeping accomodations were somewhat other than we had expected, (two teenage sisters were not a fit for a remaining twin bed) we added an air mattress to make it work.

Girls weekend

Great location. Loved that it was right on the bike trail, and bike rentals were close by. Very quiet at all times of the day. A drawback for our group, was that both bathrooms were on the main level and right next to each other, while two of the three bedrooms were upstairs. All three beds were very comfortable. While we never made it to try the pie shoppe in Whalen, we did have great meals in Lanesboro.

A gem!

Our second time booking the Cyclin-Inn! We re-booked because of how clean the house was and Duane and Tammy were such friendly hosts. The home home was very clean and there was plenty of room for our family. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, knives, dishes, etc. The big whirlpool tub was awesome and having two bathrooms is a bonus. The porch was our favorite - relaxing place to enjoy coffee, watch the bikers on the path and look for wildlife. My husband noticed some updates since our last stay...new duct work upstairs, which made a noticeable difference in heat distribution in all the rooms. New TV, comfortable bar stools and they refinished the brick chimney, which used to be a bit of an odd pink color. The town of Whalan is very cute and quiet. The bike trail goes right through town. We also enjoyed biking to the next town for shopping and lunch. We didn't get a chance to go on the river, but a lot of people said there was kayaking/canoeing and fishing. Tammy and Duane offered a horse-drawn wagon through the bluffs that was the highlight of the trip. We got to hear more about the area and the scenery was fantastic. Next time we hope to do a jeep tour. We would book this property again.

Great Experience

The owner was very friendly and accommodating with a last-minute rental request. The property is right near the bike trail. The house is plenty big, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the jacuzzi was nice. The price was fair as well. Recommended!

Wonderful Trip

We have stayed here several times and it is great each time. The house is clean and everything one would need is at hand. The location is very convenient, especially to the bike trail which is 50 feet away. We will definitely be back.

RUN A WAY DO NOT HERE

First thing their is a FULL page of how YOU clean before you leave, VAC carpet, pull beds sheets, clean floors and more. The chairs out on the deck 3 were broken when we tried to set in them. The tv that's a joke. The washer on off knob fell off,so that was no good. The frig inside and out was so dirty and the shelf was broken. Their was very very hot upstairs the air cond or outlets did not work. Maybe when this opened it was nice NOT today. Remember YOU must clean when you leave.

Fun Weekend Getaway

Our family had a great weekend at the Cyclin Inn. The setting was beautiful and restful and "away from it all", but close enough to have plenty of adventures in the area. And while we enjoyed the area attractions, we all found the house to be one of the favorite parts of our getaway. My teenager daughter and friend loved the neighboring ponies and goats while my husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the front porch, listening to the birds and watching the bikes glide by.

Hello, and welcome to Cyclin-inn in beautiful Whalan, Minnesota. I am Tammy Hughes, the proprietor of the Cyclin-inn. I am originally from Duluth, Minnesota and have been migrating south ever since I became old enough to explore Minnesota. After spending 15 years in the Twin Cities, and escaping every weekend to go biking, kayaking, or horseback riding, I decided that I should make my move a bit further south. With the Root River / Root River State Bicycle Trail being the draw, I began searching for my dream property. In discovering Lanesboro with its majestic bluffs and scenic views, I fell in love. In 2001, I found my little haven in Whalan, just 4 miles east of Lanesboro.

During the first year, I was in love again with Litefoot. He is a half Belgian and half Appaloosa draft / riding horse. Living on the outskirts of the small community of Whalan, he quickly moved in. So in the mean while, I created the Cyclin-inn. Allowing you to enjoy the peacefulness of the small community and the great outdoor scenery right out the door on the Root River, On the Root River State Bicycle Trail. Please enjoy my home and treat it as your own. You will find all the comforts of home and more. The Cyclin-Inn is located on the Root River State Bicycle Trail, on the Root River and within a block of two city parks. Whalan has 1 place to eat, and an outfitter within walking distance where you can rent a bike, kayak, tube, or even a canoe.

Bring your family and friends to Whalan for a fun, relaxing getaway. On your way here, explore our National Scenic Byway, Highway 16. The town of Whalan offers peaceful tranquility and opportunity to explore the Bluffs of Minnesota.

Why they chose this property

This property has perfect access to the Root River Bike Trail as well as the Root River. Great front porch view of the bike trail.

What makes this property unique

There is a large back yard, located on the edge of town. Great area for back yard fun. There is a fire pit, located on the edge of the property... great place to kick back and relax.
