About this property

Old country house in breathtaking beautiful mountain landscape

The Villa Generosa is an approximately 320-year-old 'rustic', which has been lovingly restored in recent years. The two-part house is situated in a beautiful mountain landscape in the open position at the edge of the historic village Valleggia with panoramic views of a chain of mountain peaks and massifs, the highest of which is 'Pizzo del Ton', an approximately 2800 m high fore summit of MONTE ROSA. Down from the terraces and balconies of the house opens up to the viewer the image of the natural-grown VALLE ANTRONA with its vast chestnut, linden and beech forests. The VAL GRANDE, one of the largest natural parks in Europe, lies behind the mountain panorama, which determines the eastern horizon of the outlook.
The Villa Generosa is a fully equipped house habitable in every season, in summer and in winter.
The earthy, rustic property, which consists of three parts (formerly used as a residence with attached shed and barn), is built half-height inro the mountain, the main side with the 5 very large, terraced balconies, 2 terraces on different levels and a overgrown lawn with fruit trees is south facing. Large door windows, sliding doors or hinged doors which measure almost an entire width of the house flood the spacious rooms with lots of light. The four planes of the two shell halves are half offset in height, they are linked together by interesting staircase waveforms. All rooms are accessible within the house, yet with many retreat opportunities in private.
The chosen furniture gives each room a distinct individual character.
Music, Relax, Washing: The semi-electric Grandpiano of Yamaha may be used - please in an appropriate way! The same applies for the three higher-quality hi-fi systems, which are on different levels and rooms in the building.
The house has two satellite receivers for German television programs, includes a DVD player and 32 'flat screen in the living room of the house; there is a second flat-screen TV in the basement.
To relax on the terraces and balconies there are a sufficient number of umbrellas, Couches and chairs.
The use of washing machine and - in bad weather - dryer is free. For drying clothes outdoors, there are a number of drying racks.
The second bathroom in the basement of the house is equipped with an electric floor heating for greater comfort during the cold season.
Warmth in winter is provided by 3 furnaces of different types, a pellet stove of ease in use with digital control heats the house from the kitchen, a hot-air stove heats the house centrally in a very effective, quick way. The living room of the house is heated by a Danish stove.
200 steps of a scenic walkway leading from the parking lot through the village to the villa. (There are stairs; for this reason the village is not adequate for elderly or infirm people.)
For the pleasures of hiking: just outside the village, or even just around the corner your walking paths start in a wild and romantic nature. Maps are available in the house.
The already mentioned, nearby Val Grande National Park allows the hikers wonderful trips in the Italian mountains with views as to the unique massif of Monte Rosa, maps and footwear are provided, of course.
The in-house environment is not to be outdone! Those hiking trails that start at house and village lead on the surrounding peaks up to 2000m, and - if you like, and have enough time, you can follow the old smugglers' routes up in the Swiss' Wallis'.
All neighbouring valleys that branch out from the great Val d'Ossola, offer attractions and breathtaking beautiful, sublime views and experiences of nature, waterfalls, river basins, hot springs and more.
The landmark monastery 'Sacro Monte Calvario' between Villadossola and Domodossola has unique representations of the Stations of the Cross with Christ in naturalistic, life-size sculptures arrangements. You might want to go hiking on this attraction of Valleggia from (8 - 10 km)
Skiers find their fortune on the back of the house mountain, 'Montcucco' in 'Domobianca', or in the surrounding valleys and mountains in the direction of Simplon Pass or as Macugnaga on 'Monte Rosa'.
