A modern, recently built (2023) 3 bd/2 ba cottage offers everything you need for a relaxing getaway. It sits at the top of our 4.5 acre property with great views overlooking the lake and cove sides of the property. Enjoy your private yard with a cozy fire pit & relaxing hammock, perfect for evenings under the stars. You’ll have shared access to a beautiful beach, kayaks for lake adventures & fishing opportunities. The primary bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a king size bed and can be used as a secondary primary bedroom as it also has its own private access to the covered porch. The third bedroom has a super comfortable king size bed plus there is a fold out couch in the living room for extra guests.

Need less space or more beds? Check out our nearby Blue Heron Guesthouse, 2bd/1ba just 30 yards away, offering the same great amenities and serene surroundings. The Blue Heron and Green Heron can be rented individually or together for a larger gathering.

If the weather is less than ideal, enjoy some sports or movies with YouTube TV and free wi-fi or play one of the many board or card games that are available. The kitchen is ideal with a dishwasher, microwave, oven, stove top and refrigerator as well as a full kitchen including pots, pans, blender and more. The dining room accommodates 8 and after a day on the lake come back to a spacious comfortable living room with fantastic water views or choose to grill and chill with the gas grill and covered outdoor dining area also with an awesome water view.

The outdoor space is the key to the home and makes this the perfect lake retreat! If you want to fish or just watch the sunset, enjoy the shared long pier with a gazebo and floating dock to tie up your water toys. You don’t even have to find a boat launch, just use the one on the property to start your lake fun. If you just want to relax, enjoy the shared sandy beach with a swimming area or just lounge away soaking up the sun. If you just want to hang out in the shade and read a book or take a nap, jump into the hammock and just relax or sit at the covered picnic table and enjoy food and the lake views. Top the evening off, by having a bonfire in the fire pit area making s’mores and memories.

The Green Heron exceeded our expectations. The hosts were extremely accommodating, fast to respond, and maintain their property with lots of care and love. The property was extremely clean, beautiful, comfortable, and fully equipped to cover fun activities and daily necessities. I would definitely recommend!

Great relaxing stay

This is perfect and cozy. Howard and Anjel were prompt and super sweet. The house was clean, spacious and relaxing right on the lake. Loved the neighborhood too.

July 4th Trip

Overall the stay at the green heron house was great! Be sure to read the property details closely for the shared beach in the shared dock. They are also across the street from the house. There is a closer dock, but is still a good distance from the house. The house itself was really clean and stocked with anything you could need for a weekend getaway or a full week stay. From Play to a well equipped kitchen as well as tons of games, indoors and outdoors to keep us entertained.

Nothing short of the best! It is stocked with anything and everything you could need. You can tell the owners put so much thought into every detail from the water experience to the indoor and outdoor living. It was very clean and we hope to visit again.

Game Weekend

This is a perfect place on the lake. So peaceful, beautiful and easy to get around. We could get to Auburn without any problems. Don't miss out staying at one of Howard and his wife's houses. They take get pride in making your stay comfortable and memorable!!

Green Heron

Our trip was so much fun! The property was beautiful and well maintained. The house was very clean and beautiful. I loved everything about it. Everything was labeled and so organized. The docks were great. Our teens loved the kayaks and the paddle boat. My son and his family stayed in the Blue Heron and loved their stay also. It was nice to have 2 houses to accommodate our family. We will definitely return next summer. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Wow!

I can’t say enough about this home! The owners have planned for all of the needs of their guests! Enough kayaks for everyone and life jackets in every size! The home was beautiful! Well designed and decorated. Sweet little beach with shade, nice long dock with a floating dock, second dock away from the beach, fishing equipment on site, plenty of parking, lots of games and even toys for kids! The rocking chairs outside the main bedroom are amazing! You don’t need to bring anything other than your personal items, food and swimsuits!! We are already planning our next stay!

Family Time on Lake Time!

Every year our family kicks off the summer by visiting different lakes and this year we lucked up by choosing Lake Harding! Whether traveling with small children or perhaps a kid at heart this is your place to be! Toys for all ages from plastic buckets and shovels to paddle boat and kayaks and lots more. Sandy beach area perfect safe place for kiddos and for those wanting to take in some rays! Both Green Heron ( 3 bedroom) and Blue Heron ( 2 bedroom) are awesome! Five stars for cleanliness and kitchen stocked with everything you need plus extra touches throughout. After making your reservation ask the host how to go about reserving a guided pontoon boat tour of Lake Harding or renting a pontoon boat for the day both were a hit for all ages. The host family have made every effort to provide a great location for their guest and they have been very successful with this crew because all agree Lake Harding is in first place of all the lakes we have visited!!! Thanks again for sharing your piece of paradise with us we had a great time making lasting memories together:)

Great vacation spot!

Once I saw the pics in the listing, I knew this was where we wanted to stay! The house looked amazing, and the lake was so inviting. When we got there, it was all we had hoped for and more. We went for my sons turning blue Graduation at Fort Moore, but we wanted to stay somewhere where we can relax and he could have some downtime just kayaking and swimming. It was just a 35 min drive, and the drive up was so beautiful it didn’t even seem like it took 35 min to get there from Columbus. The kids loved it there and cannot wait to go back. We walked in the door, and they had marshmallows, graham crackers, and Hershey’s chocolate bars waiting for us so we can make s’mores. I thought that was the cutest thing! Everything was very clean and very well kept up. I’m a bit of a clean freak so this place was a big plus for me. We even drove to Auburn to check out the university and went to Toomers Corner and had some delicious lemonades. That was also a beautiful drive and not too far. Howard and Angel were the best hosts, and were extremely easy to communicate with. We can’t wait to go back!

Absolute perfection

I connot put into words adequately how much we loved our stay the the Green Heron. Our group of 5 included my son who had just completed his Turning Green at Ft. Moore, my Mom, Aunt, and Uncle. I wanted a place for him to be able to rest and recharge before returning for more specialized training. We also wanted to be close enough to Ft. Moore for graduation, and Columbus to tour his "must see" stops. This property was the best decision! The home was stocked with lots of fun games for a couple of game nights, it was close to delicious food (Backwater), a perfect little Country Market for groceries, and easy access to Columbus and Ft. Moore. Each were about a 40 min drive, and well worth the drive to justify driving out to stay here! The hosts were incredibly kind and generous, as were the other locals who stopped to congratulate my son. Part of my group has mobility issues, and while the property itself is on a slope, we had no issues accessing the home. This was very important to us. My son enjoyed a peaceful kayak ride with the equipment provided. The area is so quiet, we could hear the ducks flapping in the water from the back porch. The furnishings, including the beds, were extremely comfortable and tastefully arranged. I could go on and on. In a nutshell - we hit the jackpot with this find. Thank you!

This property is beautiful!!! The house is beautifully decorated, clean and very inviting. The owner lives minutes from the property and very accommodating. The kitchen is well stocked, as well as the bathrooms. They had a welcome book complete with necessary instructions and even smores for an outside fire pit treat. We were there for a wedding my only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy this property!!! I also had a metal ,13 x 9 pan that I mistakenly left and Howard the owner returned it to my granddaughter @ 15 miles away!! He also allowed us access to the property earlier than the posted check-in time.

We are a retired military family who have traveled around the world but would rather be at Lake Harding enjoying the lake life and love sharing it with our guests.

Why they chose this property

We bought this property due to it's size (4 1/2acres) as well as it's scenic views and peaceful surroundings. The Green Heron sits up on a slight hill with great 270 degree views of open water and a cove in the back. It's still a gentle walk to be in the water as well as the shared access to the pier, beach and boat ramp.

What makes this property unique

While staying at the Green Heron Cottage, guests are able to share access to our pier, beach, and boat ramp. A floating dock and pier are also available for your use so bring your fishing pole or we have some for you to use, just need your Alabama or Georgia fishing license. Available for your free use are several kayaks including a tandem kayak, paddle boat, paddle board and various sizes of life vests. Only the specific guests noted in the booking are allowed on the premises without prior approval from the host.
