About this property
Emory's Place - Close to LSU/Newly Renovated!
Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space with open vibes.
Once you enter the home, you will be completely amazed at what you see. It is unexpected (in a good way of course)! Even though this home was built in the 1940s, your hosts have completely gutted it, opened up walls, redesigned the layout, and made use of every inch of space they could while still keeping the original bones, doors, fireplace, molding, baseboards, windows, some of the flooring, and overall character. There is a lot of personal touches and extra cozy details from the hand painted artwork and DIY design to the many pillows and throw blankets.
1940s pier & beam home completely renovated in 2022/2023.
Beautifully landscaped in front yard. The front porch bar features plenty of seating for guests and an outdoor plug to use so you can work on your laptop, charge your phone, and sip coffee/wine. Modern bathrooms with open walk-in showers and large soaking tub, new AC & heater with Ecobee thermostat, new outdoor tankless water heater (you never run out of hot water!), new kitchen cabinetry & 10-foot quartz island with 6 barstools, built-in dining table seating, all new appliances, new flooring throughout except in 2 bedrooms, roller shades on all windows. Wall mounted 50" 4K TVs in all 3 bedrooms and 65" 4K tv in den. Extra-large wide comfy couch with tons of throw pillows. Original fireplace. Brand new Samsung front loader washer and dryer in kitchen. Open layout with lots of natural lighting. 9-foot ceilings, tons of original windows & doors, bright, and modern. Minimalist meets Scandinavian meets chic meets New Orleans style shotgun home.
Backyard was recently fenced in with a large 9-foot horizontal privacy fence and matching gate (December 2024). We plan to add a huge deck off the back door in 2025.
There is a ring doorbell camera and backyard camera monitoring the exterior of the home for safety, liability, and security purposes.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

About the host
Hosted by Elizabeth
Hi! My name is Elizabeth.
I have a passion for design, traveling, meeting new people, building, carpentry, DIY/renovating, being an artist/art, hosting, and decided to combine all of it to do what I love - short term property hosting.
I designed, own, and manage three properties that are each very special to me. The Mid City Bungalow was the 1st home I purchased (2015) and lived in for 6 years. I fell in love with the bones, the abundance of windows and natural light, and the neighborhood. I raised my children here. Then, I purchased a home 2 doors down (so convenient!) in 2020, Emory's Place (named after my beautiful & very girly daughter). My husband and I gutted it, I did the design (literally sketches after sketches on napkins), and we finally had the help of a contractor to finish it in March of 2023. It was a labor of some serious love! While in the thick of renovations, my husband and I decided it was time to purchase a larger home with more yard for our free-range rambunctious kids. So, we purchased a home in Old Goodwood in 2021. Our home contains a beautiful mother-in-law suite which is where the Old Goodwood Apartment is.
I love staying busy and hope I get to keep doing what I love for a long time. I also work a full-time job, manage the 3 rentals, and attend law school at night. I am a foodie and love trying local restaurants and events so if you need recommendations while in the area, then I am your girl. I am always near a phone so please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you should need anything at all. I hope you decide to book with me, and I look forward to being your host! Thank you for stopping by. :)
Why they chose this property
Emory's Place is one of a kind. We spent 2.5 years fixing her up, and we tried to maximize every bit of square footage we could. The home itself is over 80 years old, and I was really careful to keep a lot of the old charm and original bones. The front porch bar is unique and fun to sit out and people watch or drink your coffee in the morning. The space is so open, there are a ton of windows, and honestly the bathrooms might be the best part. They are simply gorgeous. I want it to be a place for people to unwind and get much needed rest and relaxation in this crazy busy world. It is right by everything, and you can literally walk to so many of the best restaurants and bars in Baton Rouge. I hope you enjoy it as much as the picture I am painting.
What makes this property unique
Bluetooth bathroom speakers in each bathroom, extra-large soaking tub and walk-in rain shower in master bath, original wood burning fireplace, 10-foot quartz kitchen island, huge deep kitchen sink, brand new appliances, built-in dining table seating, open concept, original artwork by your host, large 4K TVs in every bedroom and den, so many original windows bringing in natural light but all come with roller shades, brand new central AC and heater, brand new plumbing, electrical completely rewired, front porch bar seats 4, beautiful Crepe Myrtle in front yard.
