Our mother/daughter get-away was so perfect. We were both “wowed” when we entered the Loft. It is so quaint and had all the special touches and charm. It was difficult to leave.

Just add a coffee measuring spoon, a shot glass/jigger and a couple more ice trays and it’s perfect!!

Hopeful Anniversary Getaway

We have made coming to the Highlands an annual retreat for our anniversary and found this really promising spot right in downtown that I was really hopeful would be the best spot

Check in was easy, but not ideal as you have to go to the office across town to pick up the key. Ameneties were plentiful and property was clean.

Since there is a shared entryway for the Main Street retail store below the apartment, we must use a key. The best thing I can say about this property is great location. We were told there was a designated parking spot behind the building and we were to walk thru a brick alley between the buildings. The alley was dirty and the pizza restaurant had metal stands to hang their mats over at night (which means they never saw sunlight). Also there is a wall mounted AC but it doesn't get enough fresh air to work properly so they had a large floor fan blowing on the AC to keep ir cool enough to work. There are no lights at night so you have to stumble down the alley. Not an auspicious start. The loft is small which would be ok if it wasn't crammed full of furniture. The furniture was eclectic which is ok but we couldn't move. We moved some pieces around so we could walk around {don't worry we moved it back). There were approximately 15 fake green plants which was about 12 too many, bric-a-brac on EVERY surface and they obviously never get dusted. Our first morning we were going to make coffee and found mold in the coffee maker. HVR did clean it that day but we decided to get our first daily cup from across the street. We're from FL and have a healthy fear of mold. We've owned many short term rental properties at the beach and managed many more so we know how things "should" be. This loft would be much better with a few changes-get rid of clutter, that green bench at foot of bed. Remember "less is more".

The bed was comfortable, though we found the pillows a bit too thick for our preference. However, the host was very attentive and reached out to check on us. After I mentioned the pillow issue, they promptly had thinner ones delivered before the end of the day. This thoughtful gesture made a significant difference for our last couple of nights. Overall, it was a lovely experience!"

My husband and I wanted to stay right in center of the Highlands. Couldn't have been any better! Sweet place, comfortable bed, great shower. The only improvement I would make is to offer a way scramble an egg in the morning. The unit only offers a refrigerator and a microwave. But maybe it isn't advisable for insurance, city ordinances, etc. Would recommend this place! The balcony overlooking Main Street was a great place to sit in the mornings with coffee or in the evening prior to heading out for a dinner reservation. It has a speak easy feel to it. We enjoyed our visit to Highlands!

Highly recommend the Galax condo!

The Galax condo is conveniently located on Main Street and within walking distance to many of our favorite shops and restaurants. The unit was very clean and beautifully furnished. The primary suite bed is extremely comfortable and the unit was perfectly stocked with everything we needed for a long weekend, including a chilled bottle of wine upon arrival! We were easily able to come and go throughout the day given the prime location on Main Street and we never had any issues with parking. The unit comes with a designated parking spot behind the building, but we never had to use it. I highly recommend the Galax condo and we look forward to going back.
