This place gets poor reviews, but is a reliable, safe practical place to stay for us. Our 3rd time staying here bc it is so close to Shepler’s ferry that you can walk in five minutes and save the 15 parking fee. There is a beautiful tv and internet, two double beds that are clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was that there were few electrical outlets for our CPAP machines, but we managed just fine. Next time on the island we Weill stay here again for sure!

The property was ok. It could definitely use some refreshing, but we knew that going in. My biggest complaint was how long it took to receive a reply to a message I sent the host prior to arrival. It took multiple days to get a response and we were already on our way by the time I did get a response.
We only needed a clean, comfortable place to rest while driving a long ways and this definitely fit the bill! There is a lot of potential and an outdoor light is needed for late arrivals but very easy and fit our purposes perfectly!

We left within hours of arriving. Heating inoperable, thermostat outdated and taped to wall, electrical outlets overloaded. Maintenance person identified continued issue with tripped circuits and engaged in tense call with property contact, Jodi about warning her about conditions beforehand. Also mentioned was issues with water heater per maintenance worker. Also window screens ripped out, exterior of building nothing like the nicely photo shopped advertisement showing flower beds and nicely painted motel sign. Exterior paint flaking or missing throughout exterior.Asked for refund, denied. Offered a move to another unit after leaving and answered why stay in a substandard facility? Jodi used the claim that each unit in this old motel were owned individually by separate owners?!Filed report with Mackinaw City, MI staff about safety and mechanical issues.Doesn’t VRBO vet these properties and owners?
The room has a mini air conditioner that wasn't doing the job on the 80+

Has potential
I understood that we would be staying in an older motel, but from the pictures it seemed cute and clean. Unfortunately, there was a dank moldy smell that mixed with the smell of the new wood paneling. My husband couldn’t stay. We were disappointed because it was a fantastic location. I feel that whoever owns the property is on to a great idea with the “boutique” renovations.
The motel sign says “The Welcome Inn” (I booked under Apple Blossom Inn.) So weird that the owner wouldn't have told me that. I discovered it through the reviews so I knew what to look for. The road to get to the motel was blocked off (I had to move the blockade to drive into the parking lot.) which was uncomfortable to have to do. Once there, super easy to get in, dial pad, refrigerator, nice new wood paneling on walls made it look and smell fresh. Shower was great. Pillows pretty firm. Beds ok comfy. Great location. I would definitely come back. It was safe and clean.
I want my money back. What a HORRIBLE experience.
We got there not knowing we were on our own. The Office
full of Junk and laundry. Your invisible check in was not a pleasant surprise. We Google a Number got someone that works for Best Western, couldn't help. Our Code 9933 tried it SEVERAL times and didn't open. After 45 minutes of standing outside trying to get in we call for new reservation down the road. Walked in was greeted by a REAL person, pleasant and helpful, great stay. WE ARE TELLING ALL OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY NOT TO USE YOUR SO CALLED SERVICE. Please Refund our money and let me know you did it. THANK YOU

The location was ideal for what we wanted to do. It’s a simple motel room that just needs a few upgrades. More than one light it was so dark and a few outlets. It was quiet and mostly clean but we loved the location.
When we first got there it didn't take us long to find out there wasn't any heat, so I msgd my host (Jodi) she sent maintenance out the next morning. But other than needing more outlets and a softer bed we really enjoyed our stay and WILL be coming back
This place was cute and super close to the beach and shopping, but the room itself was not super clean. The carpet was dirty enough that walking around the room for a couple minutes would make our feet visibly dirty. There was also mildew on the shower floor. We did not ask to switch rooms because we thought the other units were likely in similar condition, and they weren’t the worst issues—no signs of bedbugs or anything, and the beds and furniture were clean. We had also asked for clarification after the check in process was explained, and we did not receive a response, so we thought asking about another room might be unanswered too. When we ran into the property manager when they were cleaning the next door unit, they made sure to ask if we needed anything like towels, which was nice. The door and neighborhood felt secure and safe. The bed was also outstandingly comfortable. Overall, the location and price were unbeatable and it had a good vibe, so I would still happily return if I knew it had been given a little more TLC before our next stay!
Loved the closeness to sheplers ferry and the shops in Mackinac City.

Packed up and left
The “Apple Blossom” sign is nonexistent, but instead is actually the very run down “Welcome Inn.” Without going back and reading reviews, I never would have found the place. The furniture is incredibly dated and in need of a serious deep clean. The terrible smell of the room and the fact that I would have felt dirtier showering there sent me packing and down the road to another hotel (which ended up being a great price by booking the night of!). The only positive was the amazing location right near the water, ferries and shops. Put some actual effort into the place and it could have great potential.

Mini Vacation
I would have to say the location was amazing! The rooms aren't fully updated. Our room didn't have extra toilet paper. And my in daughters room the bedsheets were stained with what looked like blood. However, for the price and location I would definitely stay again! I think if they continue with upgrades (outside too) it will turn into an even better place to stay!!
Sign actually says " Welcome Inn" not Apple Blossom, If I had not read other reviews we wouls not have found the hotel. Main room & beds are nice, comfortable & clean new linens. We liked room#3 has 2nd bed in the other section of room. Nice start on remodeling but bathtub needs refinishing & moldy under mat. The plumber was at the property & very helpful & kind in helping me find cleaning products for tub, coffee cups & extra towels in the office. I tried cleaning tub but the mold under mat was gross & needs bleach. Tub needs refinishing, A/C & bath fan filters also need cleaning. I Tried messaging Jodi because I did not want to leave a bad review, but no reply.
This isn't even the name of this place, it's called the Welcome Inn. There is a office but it is full of garbage, there is no parking, no one available to talk with. I called the manager Jodi to find out where the location was, which she said oh they haven't changed the sign yet and that once i received a message with the key code we would be able to check in (this was around 2) So we went to eat. We were given the code to check into our room at 3:15 which was early because check in was 4:00 but they messaged it to me and said enjoy your stay and have fun. The room hadn't even been cleaned, garbage all over, beds not made towels all around the bathroom. The screen had a large cut in it. When i messaged the manager whom had just given me the code to go in she stated check in was at 4 and the room would be cleaned. A women eventually showed up went over and talked with some men working on another place then rudely said someone will be back to clean then left. There was no way i felt comfortable enough to stay there after the number of misguided information i was given. The manager would no longer answer my phone calls so i messaged i would like a refund. Jodi the manager then replied that i was unable to receive a refund due to the cancelation policy. Completely unacceptable seeing none of the property details were correct.
