Later the town profited from potato production, shoe manufacturing, and a state-run hospital.
By 1937, Anoka became nationally recognized as a Halloween destination when 12-year-old Harold Blair won a trip to Washington D.C., and brought with him a sweater sewn with an Anoka the Halloween patch on it and a proclamation that named Anoka as the Halloween Capital of the World. It was also one of the first cities in the United States to put on a Halloween celebration that discourages people from playing tricks or causing trouble. If you love Halloween and all the creepiness that goes along with it. You will want to go on one of the many Guided Cemetery Tours or Ghost Tours throughout the historical town.

Since Anoka is a short 30-minute drive from US Bank Stadium, Target Field and the Excel Energy Center where you can go see the Twins, Wild, Vikings play, or go see one of your favorite singers at one of the many concerts they host.

Very cute Victorian home. A bit disappointed by seasonal bugs, smell of stale smoke and missing smoke alarm.

We have the house professionally treated for pests, so while a few Asian beetles may still get in. Unfortunately, some guests have not followed our no-smoking policy, which likely explains why the smoke detector was taken down. Thank you for staying with us.
Great location. Has all basic needs. Steps are many and steep but totally manageable unless disabled. Clean and comfortable. Good restaurants, walking trails, beautiful area.
The apartment was very roomy, clean, and comfortable. However, I would not recommend it for older people as it requires you to go up 16 very steep and narrow steps. The floors were also a little uneven, so you would definitely want to be sure-footed. With saying that it, was nothing you would not expect in an older home.
The host was fantastic. Very quick to respond to our questions, There unfortunately was a huge storm there that caused a power outage causing us to have to find the fuse box. A quick text to the host and the fuse box was found and power was restored within a couple of minutes.
I would stay there again.
