About this property
A charming turn of the century farmhouse in the heart of Lake Country.
This modernized "Gathering Place" with a sprawling yard and plenty of sunlight will warm your heart and calm your soul. Built more than 200 years ago, this family homeplace still holds all of its comforts~ some parts quirky and some more predictable.
Nestled in what Southside Virginians call "lake country," it is the perfect spot to stay for your fishing tourney or boating weekend. It also makes for the perfect quiet country getaway. It may even be a well suited longer stay option for traveling medical professionals or Microsoft contractors, but is not the best option as a primitive rooming house.
Situated at the Highway 58 by-pass (less than 3 miles from I-85), just outside the community of South Hill and near Clarksville, you'll have just a short drive to Lake Gaston, Kerr Lake (or Buggs Island), many local restaurants, fun shops and Occoneechee State Park. You are ~ give or take ~ 70 miles from Richmond to the North and Raleigh/Durham to the South. Clarksville is a quick 20 minutes west and South Boston and Danville are just a bit further down 58 from there.
This home features plenty of parking for your car and boat, plenty of play space in the yard, a lovely front porch, living room, sitting room, kitchen, master bedroom, office space and full bath downstairs with two more bedrooms and full bath just up the grand staircase. Fully appointed kitchen with microwave, Keurig coffee maker, KitchenAid mixer, air fryer, electric stove, refrigerator w/ ice maker, Dyson stick vac, washer and dryer. Internet and TVs up and down with Roku. We have furnished the home with antiques, rescued pieces from family collections and some things new and modern. Eclectic and earthy, you cannot help but feel the easy spirit of this old home when you walk through the door.

Such an interesting house A mixture of the past and present Beautiful property Perfect porch for sitting and relaxing and watching the new buds bloom Nice neighbors and country town The kitchen is well stocked and the beds are comfortable We had a perfect place to stay while meeting with family for a memorial in chase City
This house was amazing. The history of the home, the furnishings, and the location was awesome. There are a few easter eggs in the pictures as too!!! Cheryl was very kind and responsive. The beds were comfortable. If you are going scuba diving at lake Pheonix and want something a little nicer for you and your friends at a decent rate, this is the place!!!
The country setting was tranquil and absolutely beautiful. The property was cozy, well-stocked, and had the perfect layout for spending time with friends and family. The space was very clean and had all of the necessities for a few night stay.
Our host, Cheryl, was incredible. She was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions and was extremely helpful. We look forward to visiting again soon!
