The Original Farmhouse built in the 1800’s. The house has been updated with all the modern amenities. Our hope is to make it a peaceful retreat from the chaotic world around us. We believe that small personal things matter. I have woven 20 years of luxury hospitality mgmt. into your experiences here at GW. Yes, it is a large house, but it will wrap you with warmth!
The space
Once you arrive you will have the choice of one of the five bedrooms, each appointed with quality furnishings and comfortable fresh linens that allow for a restful refreshing experience. We are mile and half from Long Beach IN beaches and a short drive to Washington Park Beach, and the popular New Buffalo Mariana and Beach. You can get out and explore the inner coastal Harbor Country (We sit just on the edge of Harbor Country, (New Buffalo, Three Oaks, Union Pier, and St Joseph that features amazing One-of-a-Kind Stores, Restaurants, Bakeries and Wineries/ Breweries/ Distilleries) or hike through the Indiana Dunes National Park or wonder through Michigan’s State Park, Warren Dunes. We of course are dog friendly but be aware we have a chicken coop with over 23 chickens that provide you with fresh eggs daily. We have moved from the bed & breakfast platform and offer a varied menu that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. We have found that not everyone enjoys the time in the kitchen, so if would like a break from cooking, and not to mention the cleanup, let me prepare one or more of your meals during your stay. The menus are suggestions, I am happy to collaborate with you to accommodate any dietary / food allergies or a themed celebration. The kitchen a fully equipped with many of the most and not so needed gadgets along with a variety of spices and condiments. If you are a BBQ’er enjoy the convenience of two grills, a Weber Gas or the Kamado Ceramic, with plenty of hardwood charcoal. There are several outdoor oases, starting with the wrapped around front porch with rockers and a swing, to the large fire-pit area (small stack of wood to get you started), a shady corner of the yard with 2 hammocks and a cocoon (great to curl up for a nap or great book). Or slip into one of our terry cloth robes and slippers and make your way to the hot tub (heated to 104), for a relaxing ending to the day. Be sure to explore the Tryon Farm Institute Nature Preserve and wrap yourself in nature as you hike the 5k trails that wind through 170 acres.
Guest access
You are given full access to the first and second floor. The third floor is reserved as a wellness retreat group space rental. Providing a host privacy space where they can hold one on one’s or group meditation or yoga practices. There are no shared spaces with the homeowner.
