Watauga Lake Home! Hot tub, kayaks, Slip access & Mountain View!
Whispering Pines has the best view of the mountains and overlooks the lake just a short walk downhill to the private marina. Slip #6 is available for your use as well as 2 kayaks. The cabin sleeps 8-10 comfortably and is perfect for a couple families with or without children. The mountain chalet is a 3 level home and has 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths • 1st floor Master bedroom has a King and full bath • 2nd floor master has queen and full bath • 3rd level bedroom has two twin beds, a loft with two beds and a kids hide away with one bed • The 1st and 2nd level both have gas fireplaces
It doesn’t get prettier than this. One of our guests, described Watauga Lake as Lake Geneva in the NorthEast corner of Tennesee. Our house sits atop of the mountains in Appalachia at 4500 feet. Because we are in the Cherokee National Forest, there are very few homes on the lake which makes the views prettier than normal. In addition, the lake gets warm early in the season. You can swim from April through late October. It is a short walk to the private marina and gazebo, where there is a private covered marina; Fish Springs will bring a rental boat to an open slip for you if you'd like or you can bring one yourself. In the winter, it is an amazing home located 20 miles from a handful of skiing mountains including Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian. Our home, completed in late November 2009, looks like something straight out of a movie with driftwood trees inside the house as well as indoor and outdoor water falls. You can be busy every minute, or simply sit by the water's edge and relax.

So glad you got to rest at Whispering Pines Chad! It is so peaceful there with amazing views! And the hot tub I know you enjoyed as well. All the best in 2025! See you next time!
Very quiet property with a beautduil interior. Plenty of room for the 3 of us that stayed there with a large kitchen to cook in every night. Temperatures were verty hotnout so we never got to indulge in the hot tub, but it did look very inviting. This is a great place if you want to get away and be with nature in a beautiful home.

Thank you so much for the review and for writing in our rental book as well! Your family loves many of the same things we do as you noted - “roasting S’mores by the fire, adventuring through the woods, playing board games by the fire are all now memories we will remember forever… “ So glad you are already planning your next trip to Whispering Pines! See you soon!
Wonderful property and hosts. Just the place and time we needed to get away, relax and use as a home base as we explored johnson city and Kingsport. Mountains and lake were amazing. Would definitely book again. The place had everything we needed. A great place to just be in the moment.

Awe so great this was your most relaxing vacation in years Crystal! Great that the 4 kids enjoyed it as well and that you had plenty of space :) We’d love to have you back at Whispering Pines any time.
We definitely enjoyed this Mountain Home. It was so peaceful. The house was everything it was supposed to be and then some. We have already laid the groundwork to stay here again next year when we come to town. And my host. I cannot say enough of how quickly he was able to help me with one issue that I was needing help on. And took all the time I needed to assist me. 100% First class place and host. We enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Mr. Tom.

So glad you and the family Enjoyed the cool accents to the house and the excellently stocked Kitchen. Also glad you had a wonderfully relaxing vacation At Whispering Pines!
Were very impressed with the communication from the listers. House was very clean. Beds could use a little upgrading but we didnt want to complain because we were just so incredibly blessed to be away. Quiet and very close to the marina. The slip wasnt quite big enough for our boat so we used the marina right before the neighborhood and they were amazing there. Beautiful place, beautiful stay, and lot's of memories.
Truly appreciate it Paul. We love the design of Whispering Pines as well…the details inside with the driftwood trees and ornate chandelier are so beautiful. Our builder did an amazing job. We’re glad you noticed! See you next time.

Cathy - so glad you enjoyed your stay. You're and your family are welcome back any time.
We had the best time at Whispering Pines! The outdoor spaces of the house are amazing with beautiful views (you can't see any neighbors!) and the lake is perfect - it was completely empty while we were there. It was a relaxing, refreshing week and Tom was highly responsive.

The cabin was very nice. It was nice having the dock area to use for swimming and fishing. We enjoyed sitting outside under the covered deck because of the rainy week we had. The owner had contacted me several times to see how things were going. Plenty of room for every and we would definitely stay there again in the future.

So glad you loved Whispering Pines Thomas! The covered deck is one of our favorite places rain or shine! We do love watching the storms rolling in. We would love to have you back any time!
Whispering Pines was a quiet getaway for my family. The house easily accommodated our family of 4. Having a private marina made it easy to access the lake.
The home owners were very helpful and quick to respond for any questions. We will definitely be back to Watauga lake and the whispering pines property.

So glad you thought the property was beautiful and you had a great experience. Not sure what your issue was with the thermostat. We would have been happy to help if you had reached out. Also, it is January. You could have just opened the windows if you were hot. We were there just before you and it was negative 2.
Beautiful property with so many elegant touches. The trees inside are such a unique addition. Very comfortable for 2 families. Our teen loved the loft. It feels like you’re in your own little world.

A beautiful mountain getaway
This was a great getaway for all three of our families! The house was perfect and there was a lot of attention to detail. It is a great place for younger and older children alike. We loved spending time on the beautiful porch and by the fire pit in the evenings. The views are beautiful and there were lots of outdoor activities to take advantage of. It would be an amazing place to stay at in the summer and we plan to come back.

Truly appreciate your comments Brittney. We take a lot of pride in Whispering Pines and constantly invest in improvements to make it great for our guests every time they stay. See you in the summer.
What an incredible getaway! Whispering Pines was so much more than we expected. The home itself was built so thoughtfully and with so much imagination. Attention to detail in every nook and cranny made for the most magical place for our children. It really felt like something out of a storybook, especially the bunk room where the kids stayed. A mountain trip had been on our son's bucket list for some time and this exceded all of his expectations. The second we left he asked when we could return. The home is well maintained and cozy. It had just about anything we could think of to make ourselves feel at home and to host family meals. While there we enjoyed hiking, exploring the lake, sitting around the fire, and the kids loved playing outside. At night we enjoyed the fireplaces, lovely fountain, and rustic interior. There was plenty of room to gather together or separately. The host was incredibly welcoming, responsive, and truly excited to share this wonderful home with us. He was available to answer any questions we had to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We are already planning our next visit!
We really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Pines, this property is set in a very quiet and secluded neighborhood near Lake Watauga. Its very cozy inside with multiple fireplaces and enough rooms to spread out when visiting with large groups. The hot tub is located in a perfect spot to provide some privacy. We spent a warm afternoon outside grilling and making s'mores in the fire pit. The house is located about half an hour from a proper grocery store in Elizabethton so stock up while your out. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Tennessee.

My husband is from a small town in Tennessee very close to Watauga Lake. When we visit, this home is always my first choice!!! It's always clean and comfortable and Tom is super accommodating. We've stayed in several homes at the lake, but Whispering Pines is always our first pick! Perfect in every way!!!
