About this property
Ridgefield Spacious Country-Side Home
Mid-century modern country-side home on farm property, built in 1958. Spacious, comfortable living. See wildlife in the morning and star-gaze at night. Enjoy a secluded, peaceful country style experience that is within easy driving distance of many event centers and outdoor activities. Offering WIFI and/or Ethernet, our home is a popular work-from-home location.
This spacious, mid-century modern house has been in our family for more than 60 years. Restoration and improvements have made the house a lovely and comfortable place to be for short or long-term stays. The property is located in a small-farm community, on a very quiet street that lies next to Whipple Creek forest area. Depending on the season, deer, coyotes and many bird species are commonly seen and/or heard. A peaceful place with lots of fresh air! The house uses deep-well water and has a septic system.
The main floor of this three-story home is available for guests. More than 1,500 feet, it includes the primary and bunk-bed bedrooms, full kitchen, bathroom with both tub and separate shower, dining room and living room. There is a lovely patio accessed through glass-sliding doors in the dining room. The front door and patio each have 2-step stairs, making them very easy for all ages to access. Access to the washer and dryer are available for a fee, located in the utility room of our daylight basement. The house uses deep-well water and is on septic. The upstairs floor is not part of this specific listing.
Other things to note
1) Use of washer and dryer is fee-based. 2) Portable air conditioner for master bedroom is fee-based. Please request if you are heat-sensitive. 3) The upstairs floor is not part of this lodging. 4) Water source is a deep-well water. If you like city water, you may not like well water. It does taste and smell differently. 5) House on septic. Only basic, appropriate items are to be flushed down toilets. 6) 2-car limit. 7) The kitchen has a portable dishwasher; no garbage disposal. Cabinets are a mix of old and new. 8) We love our vintage furniture, and keep it clean and well-maintained, but understand others may not. If modern-day furniture and fixtures, city water and other modern amenities is your preference, please choose a different listing. 9) Guests have independent use of the main floor in the house and lawn areas. 10) Please note! Hosts maintain yard and lawn areas; owners tend to yard maintenance on a weekly basis and will let guests know ahead of their arrival. 11) Pictures of this listing are taken with an iPhone. No enhancements are used. What you see is what the house is like.

About the host
Hosted by Dacia Hanson

Martin and I enjoy meeting new people and sharing our 1958 home in the country side. Our farm is a work in progress: restoring and developing our farm acreage, and continued renovation of our house. We work outside during the summer, leaving the house available to receive guests. The main floor of this house is being offered. Access to the daylight basement, and the washer/dryer there, are available for an extra nightly fee. Please inquire.
We enjoy the outdoors - hiking, biking, but also enjoy visiting antique or thrift shops and art galleries! We are both musicians, and we love to read.
Finally we enjoy vacationing, and have stayed in a variety of places. We know that the place you stay in is a very important part of your visit. As your hosts we will be thoughtful and attentive to making your stay a comfortable and happy one in our home. Please read full description and keep in mind this is an older home. It is a blend of new amenities within the framework of an older home. The nightly price is in recognition of this.
Why they chose this property
The property/house has been in our family for over 60 years. It is a small farm community, a blend of rustic and new homes and small farms, farm acreage, located on a dead-end road that is adjacent to Whipple Creek Regional Forest. The area has limited to development because of the forest.
What makes this property unique
A custom built home that dates to 1958, located in a unique small-farm area. It is quiet and serene, yet close to Portland, Oregon, Illani Casino, Clark County Events Center, and other fun areas and events to visit.
