The house was built around 1840 by Washington Melson, a sailor, believed to be one of two individuals in Talbot County who voted for Abraham Lincoln in the presidential election of 1860. The house was originally built at only 16 feet wide but enlarged to the current width soon thereafter.

Also connected to the kitchen is a large family room with a queen sleep sofa. There is a half bath off the family room.
The second floor of the original portion of the Melson house is a bedroom having two twin beds and a half bath. The second floor to the rear of the house (accessed by a different staircase than that in the original portion), contains the master bedroom having a queen size bed. About the host
Hosted by Thomas Byrne
I purchased and restored the nearby Thomas Harrison House (VRBO 198445) in 1991. As my interest in the area grew, I purchased and restored the adjacent Washington Melson House as well as the Thomas Blades house (VRBO 229963), the John Bruff House (844888) and the Carpenter St Cottage (844892).
Why they chose this property
The proximity (walking distance) to the beautiful St Michaels harbor and to almost everything in Town, the quiet street location, the architecture and the historic character of the house and area. The house is also adjacent to other houses I have restored.
