The house is so unique, it was a really fun place to explore and stay for the weekend. The neighborhood is peaceful and beautiful, and an easy walk to downtown. The house had everything you could need in a rental, and was very clean, and so spacious for our group.
The property is beautiful and peaceful. The house was very spacious and clean. The 10 were very content there and were able to have our own quiet spot when needed.
Fantastic historical house, walkable to all the restaurants, shops and scenery of beautiful Mystic. Well stocked with everything you will need. So many lovely rooms in this house and great outdoors to cook out and enjoy . Very quiet, family friendly neighborhood. Make sure to read the manual and rules- a lot of helpful information. Great communication with the owner.
This house was perfect for our weekend getaway with friends. Location was perfect- we walked into town each morning and loved how close it was to the water. The outdoor playground, upstairs playroom with toys, and ample kids gear throughout the house kept our six kids entertained the entire time a we feel very lucky to have found this place and would definitely come back again!
Everything was perfect,
From the communication with the host before booking to the end of our stay.
She was always super responsive.
the house is great.
Mystic is a cute and fun town!
We absolutely loved staying at the Burrows House! It was a perfect fit for our family while visiting for our daughter’s graduation. We are huge fans of Mystic and loved the location of the house. The house is beautifully decorated and we loved that so much of the house’s historical beauty has been preserved.
I’ve stayed at a variety of rentals around the country and a few overseas, and this was one of my favorites! The house is almost 300 years old, but has all the amenities of a newer home, and is so interesting and charming. It’s situated on a gorgeous piece of land in a quiet neighborhood, while only being a 1/2 mile walk from downtown Mystic. I would definitely recommend.
We loved staying at this home. It was so clean, beds were so comfortable too! It’s a 11 minute walk to downtown. We couldn’t get over how big the home was. Checkout was extremely easy & reasonable. I would stay here again!
We had a cousins weekend that included six adults and our young children. The house was incredibly well-stocked with everything we needed (including plenty of kid-friendly dishes, utensils, and gear). There was plenty of space for our party and the outdoor swing set and toy room were such a hit. We loved walking into Mystic to explore the shops and other attractions were easily accessible for us (including dining options and the aquarium). Liz was responsive, accommodating, and a pleasure to communicate with; we loved our stay!
Really enjoyed our stay, Liz was very communicative.
Note there are a lot of rules to follow, noise ordinances and whatnot so this might not be the best house for all groups, but was perfect for our needs! Walkable to town and plenty of space at the house to hang out as well.
We had an amazing weekend staying here! The walk into town takes around 15 minutes. 8 of us slept comfortably. Communicating with the host was very easy.
We loved this enormous beautiful house. It was beautifully located, just a brief walk from downtown Mystic. We had a lovely view in a wonderful neighborhood. There were 10 of us and we had plenty of room.
Liz was a great communicator, with plenty of advance information and responsive to questions once we arrived.
We would stay here again if we choose another family vacation in this area.
We stayed with 4 families for my husband’s 40th birthday. We had 4 kids ages 5-2 and a baby. The house was perfect! The kids loved the kids room. The boys played in there all weekend. The backyard was beautiful and the playground was great. Perfect location for walking to downtown Mystic. The kitchen was equipped with everything for cooking, along with plate ware for kids. Thanks so much for the stay.
A group of 10 lady friends traveling from all over the US, we had the most amazing stay. This house is a Unique opportunity to stay in a historical setting with a modern feel. It is so spacious - we had more room than we needed! Beautiful grounds, quaint neighborhood, water views, and a very short walk to downtown Mystic. Be sure to read the house manual, which is detailed, but very clear and easy to follow. Better suited for a family stay or relaxing atmosphere- not the right house if you are looking for a party vibe. Thank you, Liz!
My husband and I rented this beautiful, historic home as a place to stay with our two daughters & their families. There were six adults and five children ages 10yrs to 9 months old. We enjoyed its charm & character as well as modernization. It provided the perfect space for each family to have their own private sleeping area including own bathroom. The nautical themed linens made it fun! The house had lots of space for our three families to spread out and not feel on top of each other! As well as providing many lovely areas for hanging out together! The side balcony porch with river views was a favorite spot from early morning to evening.
The spacious grounds also provided many areas to play or sit with a pergola, playset, patio, fire pit, and chairs. The 10 & 7 year old loved the big swing. The younger cousins spent a lot of time playing with the wonderful assortment of fine toys & games in the bunk room. And there were plenty of wonderful books to be read! Never watched a video or screen— way too much other educational and interesting things to do.
Beautiful, quiet neighborhood ! Great restaurants! With young children we took advantage of the wonderful well equipped kitchen! Great cooking ware & kid friendly plates & cups. We loved the pretty kitchen it was charming and modern all in one!!
Liz, our host was so responsive, clear, hospitable & helpful. She has put a lot of thought & effort in preparing her gorgeous home for guests. We made special memories & loved it!
My parents, my brother’s family and mine all were able to stay together for my siblings wedding weekend! We loved being able to hang out in front of the fire place during breakfast and at night. There were plenty of beds to suit everyone’s needs. The house is stocked with extra linens, lots of games, plenty of towels and was very beautiful and clean. Also we really appreciated the baby high chair and optional pack and play! Less to pack;)
The only cons were the steep stairs for my toddlers as our room was on the third level. Thankfully our baby doesn’t crawl yet or I would have been a lot more concerned. Definitely something to consider for elders and small children.
The only other con would be not being able to invite my best childhood friends into the house to play pool or visit with us (according to the house rules no one is to visit unless staying at the home or with prior approval, which I did not request due to time constraints) the owner Liz was very nice so I’m sure it wouldn’t have been a problem. We didn’t want to break any rules but the home would have been perfect place for friends to get together and play games. So this to us, since it was a wedding weekend out of state would have been nice to be able to enjoy friends and the house simultaneously. However, we do understand why this rule exists.
Nevertheless, we absolutely enjoyed being able to stay at the same location, which allowed for spending a little more family time together.
Thank you Liz!

Thanks, Ali. So glad your family enjoyed the house!
The stairs are original to the home, built in 1729. They are narrow and steep, which is why we post pictures of them and have that disclosure in the main body of our listing, as we are not the right fit for those with mobility issues or unsupervised young children.
We no longer allow unregistered guests (yours would have been fine with a text) as not all guests are as conscientious as you. We've had folks host graduation parties, wedding rehearsals, and even a memorial service at our home after booking the weekend for 8 people. As you might imagine, the plumbing is not designed for 40 people and our neighbors weren't pleased when dozens of extra cars and people showed up at the house. Unfortunately we had to implement that policy as a response to some fairly egregious incidents. When in doubt, guests can always send me a text or message.
Thanks again for your feedback. We hope we see you and your family again!
