We offer free on-site green level-2 EV charging. Tesla drivers will need an adapter in order to charge La Joya Oasis.

Why La Joya?

La Joya Oasis is a traditional "old Florida" style house built in 1946. In fact, our home was one of the very first to be built in our neighborhood. Over the years, La Joya has been upgraded and remodeled and now features the modern conveniences you would find in a newer home. ​

In Spanish, "La Joya" means "the jewel." We believe the name fits our little slice of paradise. Without a doubt, our biggest source of pride is the lush tropical vibe we have curated in our garden (with the help of Mother Nature, of course). We work tirelessly to offer a unique experience for guests that feels as if you stumbled upon a secret garden, centered on a warm inviting pool, surrounded by many species of palms and other tropical plants.

The Layout

This apartment rental is private, complete with a separate entrance and dedicated parking. It adjoins the owner and host living space, which is also private and separated, under the same roof (much like a duplex). The space is a beautiful contemporary and open layout. There are granite countertops & stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen. Throughout the home, you will find hardwood floors as well as mosaic-tile flooring in the bathroom. The lanai and hot tub area is tiled with travertine pavers.

The pool, hot tub and lanai, as well as the tropical garden are accessed through the kitchen door. Guests will find a sublime tropical garden, centered around a heated pool. Beyond the pool is the covered lanai with hot tub. The main entrance for the apartment is through the courtyard, and to the right onto the stoop.

Kitchen

We offer stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, a 12-cup drip coffee maker, individual Keurig machine, toaster, and microwave. Basic cookware including pots and pans, dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, and cooking utensils are also included. Within this large kitchen there is a dedicated workspace for laptops complete with a full-sized monitor & docking station.

Living & Dining Room

Standard size fabric covered sofa & matching ottoman, leather armchair, and wall-mounted Roku TV with streaming services available for subscribers. Dining room area includes a table and chair set that seats four persons.

Bedrooms

Both bedrooms include a queen size bed and ample storage for clothing.  Each has a wall-mounted Roku TV with streaming services available for subscribers.

Interaction with Guests

Upon initial arrival, we strive to welcome our guests personally whenever possible. We understand this is not always feasible so we also offer self check-in under those circumstances. Based on our past experience, taking the time to personally greet our guests seems to work best to answer questions, accommodate special needs, or address any requests.

We have 3 small mixed-breed dogs. When outside, guests might briefly encounter our girls in one of the common areas. The dogs are not allowed to roam freely nor are they ever allowed to enter the private guest apartment.

Guest Access

Guests will have full private access to this 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment which includes a kitchen, living room, dining room, and full bathroom. Shared access of the backyard, pool, enclosed lanai with hot tub and laundry (front-loading washer & dryer) is also included with this rental.

Host Access

Your privacy is always a top priority while maintaining the grounds of a 5-star property. To those ends, the owner / host lives on-site in an adjoining living space. The owner / host living space utilizes a separate entrance thru the courtyard & via the east gate on the property. The eastern edge of the property between the house and fence as well as the southernmost portions of the lot are reserved for owner / host use as well as routine maintenance operations. These areas are separated from the house and pool area by bamboo privacy fencing and lush tropical vegetation.


Electric Vehicles (EV Charger)

We offer a level-two electric vehicle charging station which is located on the right-hand side of the driveway. You will need an adapter to charge a Tesla. If you wish to utilize the charger, it must be done between the hours of 9:00pm and 7:00am only. There is no fee to use the charger.


Neighborhood & Local Details

La Joya Tropical Oasis is located in the South Middle River neighborhood of central Fort Lauderdale. Our neighborhood is locally famous for the wild peafowl that roam our streets and urban forests. South Middle River is a vibrant and diverse neighborhood comprised of long-time South Florida residents, members of the LBGTQ community, out of state transplants to Florida, as well as first-generation immigrants from the Caribbean and beyond.​

La Joya is within biking distance to all the shops, restaurants and nightlife found along "The Drive" in Wilton Manors. A walk to Wilton Manors would take approximately 30 minutes. Guests can certainly take advantage of La Joya's central location. The azure blue waters of our world-class beaches can be found approximately 4 miles to the east. Access to I-95 lies roughly 2 miles to the northwest. Wilton Manors is approximately 1.5 miles to the northeast. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Int'l Airport (FLL) is approximately 20 minutes to the south.

Among the highlights of the area is our new (as of 2018) passenger rail service connecting South Florida to Orlando Int'l Airport (MCO). Brightline's higher-speed train station for downtown Fort Lauderdale is located only 2 miles to the south, which is only a very quick ride away by Uber or Lyft. As a side note - Brightline is an excellent way to travel between the downtowns of Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Miami. The new Brightline extension also connects metropolitan South Florida to the Orlando area. Except for the Acela train which connects D.C. to Boston, Brightline is the only higher-speed train on the East Coast - it reaches speeds of over 100 mph.
