We had a great time staying at Coopershill. The grounds were beautiful and it was fun staying in a large country house and getting to experience something unique. Simon was very helpful and connected us with a chef during our stay. The food and service was very good!

We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed themselves John. It must have been fun taking picnics on the hikes in the surrounding area. Thanks for looking after this 18 century property like it was your own!
We were thrilled to find Coopershill House on grounds filled with blooming daffodils and anemones. Each day we drove to a new spot - all recommended by Simon, and each one filled with the grandeur of the North Atlantic views. We had music, cozy wood fires and a well-appointed kitchen that allowed play of opportunities for old friends to laugh together as we prepared meals. The history of Coopershill House is fascinating - and what a treat to collect herbs from its kitchen garden! It was a delightful visit.

Lynne and her friends were a delight. We would have them stay again whenever they want. I would recommend them to any host and they left our property in immaculate condition. We were delighted that they took advantage of all the area has to offer with trips to the cliffs at Slieve League, hikes to our many Neolithic tombs and the waterfalls, mountains and lakes that inspired WB Yeats.
About the host
Hosted by Simon O'Hara
The O'Haras can trace themselves back in Ireland to the 5th century. This is a large beautiful property, designed for my ancestors huge family. Since we are a regular sized family now we can't fill the house all of the time but we feel the house is at its best when full of laughter, conversation and stories. That is why we like to rent it out to friends and families celebrating their lives.
Why they chose this property
The north west of Ireland has a wonderful sandy coastline with huge waves and higher sand dunes. Inland there are mountains, lakes and rivers immortalised by the poems of WB Yeats. As he wrote: And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings; There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow, And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
What makes this property unique
This house has been in my family since it was built in 1774. It sits in its own 500 acre private estate and while keeping the character, atmosphere and contents of a truly old house, it has all the mod cons of high speed broadband, walk in high pressure showers and comfortable beds. There are very few places like this to rent on the planet.
