Saltwater Sanctuary-Secret garden in a tropical paradise

An idyllic retreat on the water in picturesque Hope Town settlement, this professionally decorated home is surrounded by lush vegetation and overlooks the entrance to the harbor and the iconic lighthouse. Just steps from the lower ferry dock, you enter through limestone columns into the upper courtyard, where a paver walkway leads past the bubbling fountain and through the terraced garden. Conveniently located, the beautiful town beach and everything within the settlement are just a short 5–10 minute walk.

Relaxing, well-equipped, and tastefully appointed with traditional Bahamian, coastal and tropical elements, Saltwater Sanctuary is a boutique residence in Hope Town Settlement. The home has an open floor plan with small bedroom loft above the kitchen. Suitable for two couples or a family with older children, the main level has a living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and two guestrooms with private ensuite bathrooms.

For those who love to cook, the kitchen is well equipped and includes conveniences such as Blend Tec and bullet blenders, automatic coffee maker, separate counter toaster oven and a stocked spice cabinet. The dining area seats four and there is additional seating for three at the kitchen island.

The primary suite has a king bed, smart TV, closet, guest safe, dresser, ceiling fan and mini split air conditioner, and includes an ensuite bathroom with stand-up shower and twin basin vanity. The guest suite is similarly appointed, but with a queen bed. The loft bedroom has two twin beds and is accessible by ladder from the main living area, sharing a bath with one of the two lower guest rooms.
The living room is for relaxing. A soft plush sofa invites you to curl up with a book, watch movies or listen to your favorite music. The entertainment center houses a smart TV, DVD player and an assortment of family friendly DVD’s, puzzles and games. A Sonos whole home speaker system allows you to stream your music or podcasts in both bedrooms and the main living area. Twin ceiling fans and central AC keep you comfortable in the main living area when it is hot outside; a standby generator ensures continuous power and interior comfort.

Outside, the Saltwater magic continues with the large, covered deck, the gazebo and our new (under construction) plunge pool. The pool is nestled within the professionally landscaped garden and overlooks our little beach and the water. It’s the perfect place to cool off and savor lunch and a piece of Vernon’s not-to-be-missed famous key lime pie. We highly recommend it – it’s world renown for a reason!
Late in the afternoon, boat traffic lessens, and turtles and other marine life become more visible. At high tide, you may see a dolphin or two passing in and out of the harbor. Randy is a West Indian manatee that makes an occasional appearance in the harbor, as well. The unobstructed views from the elevated gazebo at sunset are spectacular, and not to be missed. After sunset, the porch and gazebo by candlelight are the perfect location to view the night sky and watch for shooting stars.

Please note: Maximum of 4 adults and 2 children. Children must be 12 years of age and older. Boats: Smaller boats and dinghy’s can be tied up at the lower public dock at no charge, subject to available space; the dock is a short 2-3 minute walk from the house. Larger boats can find slips at Hope Town Inn and Marina or take a mooring ball in Hope Town harbor.
