The ocean view was beautiful and deserves five stars, but the property itself was a major disappointment. The listing photos were outdated and did not nearly reflect the home’s poor condition. The interior was dirty and poorly maintained, with dust-covered furniture and fans, peeling kitchen surfaces, stained couches, crumbs in cabinets, damaged cookware, chipped dishes, and too few bowls for six guests and heavily rusty backing sheets, which the owner replaced later. The grill was dirty on arrival and later replaced, but it was placed in a cluttered carport and chained up, so we chose not to use it there. The bedroom air-conditioning units worked but smelled unpleasant, while the living and kitchen areas had no effective cooling, leaving temperatures in the 90s. A portable unit was later installed, but it was loud and ineffective. Other issues included uncomfortable loungers without cushions, blocked closet space, and showerheads clogged with calcium and rust. After VRBO and the owner refused a meaningful refund for our 30-day stay, we had to clean the property ourselves and avoided using the poolside apartment. VRBO eventually refunded only 500 for the air-conditioning problem and dismissed the rest as minor, while the owner offered nothing, neither let us move out. Despite Oahu’s natural beauty, this stay was extremely disappointing, and the customer service from both VRBO and the owner was more than inadequate.
