About this property
Secluded Yurt on 100+ Acre Tree Farm
Sleep under the stars on a 111 acre tree farm. This rustic experience allows you to live off-grid and among nature. There are a number of trails and naturalized areas to explore as well as a number of close-by amenities within a 5 minute drive including 2 ski resorts, apple picking, farmers markets and hiking trails. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to not require a long travel commitment, this place is a great way to relax and unwind.
The property is a 111 acre farm with many forested and naturalized areas for exploration.
The yurt has a queen sized bed and is heated with a wood stove. There is a small kitchenette and a sitting area inside the yurt. The bathroom is located in a shed outside the yurt. The bathroom contains a high end compost toilet and a sink but does not have a shower.
Outside of the yurt is a fire pit and some chairs. It is a great place to sit and relax as well as cook. Guest access Guests have access to the entire property except for the large barn and house on the farm. Other things to note It is important to note that the yurt is heated only by woodstove use which requires guests to be proficient at starting and maintaining fire. Wood will be provided.
This yurt is off-grid which means that the only power available is solar and battery power. This type of power allows for lights and a charging station. Also because the yurt is off-grid, the water available for use is in jugs (one inside the yurt and one inside the bathroom). The property does not contain a shower.
Also please realize that the property is a working farm. Although the yurt is away from the crop growing areas, it is possible that you may come across farm employees and equipment if you explore the property. All farm equipment is off limits for any guests.

What an amazing, unique place to stay! We stayed one night for a wedding near by. Check in was a breeze, communication with the host was very quick and responsive. We would stay again.
We fell asleep to the sound of rain on the roof of the yurt and woke to the sounds of birds in the field. It was relaxing and exactly what we were looking for when we booked it. Easy enough to find, and just as described.
What s beautiful place to stay..My husband and I spend sme quality time together...The Yurt was very clean. The bed and Pillows were so soft and comfortable and made our sleep the best sleep in years..We reconnected our relationship as we experienced the awesomeness of Nature..I had an absolutely amazing time...Thanks to the Hosts and their hearts to provide such beautiful and intimate space where you can go to unwind, relax, reconnect and enjoy God's creation...

Thank you so much for your kind words! What you described is exactly what we hope all of our guests will experience :) Thanks again for staying with us!
Our yurt experience was a wonderful way to spend the weekend. Playing cards beside the stove and seeing the late night fog roll in were really special. Complete relaxation off-grid was just what we needed!!
The yurt was in a beautiful, peaceful meadow. We arrived by bicycle on a rail trail trip that started in Ottawa. So we were very appreciative of the amazing bed. We had everything we needed and wished we could have stayed longer.
The yurt was fantastic. It was well equipped with everything we needed to feel comfortable, cook and keep the space nice and warm. It was beautifully decorated and came with lots of options for games for a rainy day. The only recommendation would be getting more comfortable chairs at the table. Overall, a fantastic weekend!

It got pretty cold because we let the fire go out after we fell asleep so make sure to pick a nicer day to go to insure you can't see your breath when you wake up lol. other than that and the amount of wind shaking the walls it was one of the most magical days of me and my partners life. thank you dave will be back again.
We stayed for one night to attend my son’s wedding. Cute yurt. Beautiful property. However, this is not a location for cooler weather. We arrived at 0100 hrs to a freezing cold yurt. It is wood stove heated. So we had the fire going immediately. The size of the wood stove is small and only takes a few pieces of wood but doesn’t heat up quickly. In light of this we were up every 2 hours adding more wood, slept in our clothes and hoodies with 3 blankets to try and keep warm. The dome roof was open (we didn’t realize until later in the night. Couldn’t find the stick to close the roof (please paint the handle a colour). Lighting is very poor so we finally used a broom to close the roof. Found the proper stick in the morning when the lighting was better .Had a good belly laugh, note to self, no yurts in colder weather!

Sorry to hear that you were so cold. We usually always have a fire going before check in time so the yurt is warm but by 1am it would have been out. We do rent our yurt out all winter long and this is the first complaint we have had about it being cold (the skylight being open would do that though). The skylight pole is labeled and its location is shown in our welcome binder inside the yurt. We do have a number of battery powered lights in the yurt but not outside as the yurt is off grid. Again it is unfortunate to hear of your experience but we do try to do everything we can to make sure our guests have a good stay!
We are a family of 5 from the local neighborhood who love spending time outdoors. We really love this property and think that you will too!
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is quiet and has a country feel although it is not too far from many amenities and from the city. A great place to escape to for some peace and quiet and to get in touch with nature!
What makes this property unique
The farm is an active tree farm but also has many naturalized areas that can be explored. The yurt itself provides a comfortable and unique experience that allows you to be immersed in an off-grid nature rich experience without sacrificing all of the comforts of home.
