About this property

Family/pet-friendly home on working farm. Country setting, yet close to town!

The Herdsman's House is steeped in history and character. Once housing a family with nine children, it fell into disrepair before the Pritchard family purchased the farm, breathed life back into the crumbling structure, and turned it into a home once more.

A convenient seven miles from Presque Isle, the Herdsman's House is the ideal country setting for breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing. Or look out the front windows and enjoy the antics of the farm's four horses and one mule.

Its cozy atmosphere makes this home the ideal artist's retreat, but can accommodate up to six people with ample parking for multiple vehicles and snowmobile trailers. While out of the way, the location is an ideal launching point for many different activities in The County, from the Potato Blossom Festival in July to snowmobiling in the winter. Planning a trip to enjoy the 2024 Solar Eclipse? The Herdsman's House is located in the path of totality. Taking in the Crown of Maine Balloon Festival? We are a convenient 15-minutes from the balloon launch site at the Northern Maine Fairgrounds.

Both family-friendly and pet-friendly, the Herdsman's House promises a unique stay, with hosts on the premises to answer any questions or help make your stay in Aroostook County a memorable one.

Wonderful, peaceful, spot in The County. Off the beaten path. Just perfect.
We love the home that we stayed in. We loved learning the history of the home. There were special touches throughout the home. A welcoming sign upon entering the home, a guest book, a book with the history of the home, pamphlets on activities and dining availabilities nearby, coofee, creamer, trailmix, teas, pancake mix, even toothpaste and toothbrushes, the works! Such a peaceful place to stay.😊
