About the host
Hosted by Orla Rutherford

We’re proud to call Cork home, with our family roots deeply connected to Dripsey Castle Estate and its history. Hosting allows us to share this special place with guests from all over the world. We enjoy meeting people, creating memorable experiences, and making sure every stay feels personal and unique. What we love most about hosting is opening the doors to a place filled with heritage, beauty, and tranquility—so you can feel right at home while enjoying the charm and magic of the estate.
Why they chose this property
Dripsey Castle Estate is set in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by rolling green hills, ancient woodlands, and the gentle flow of the river that powers our hydroelectricity. The area is peaceful and private, yet just a short drive from charming villages, traditional pubs, and vibrant Cork city. What we enjoy most about the neighborhood is the perfect balance it offers—quiet mornings with birdsong and fresh country air, paired with easy access to culture, food, and friendly Irish hospitality nearby.
What makes this property unique
What makes Dripsey Castle Estate truly unique is its blend of history, luxury, and sustainability. The manor house is centuries old, yet thoughtfully restored to offer the comfort and elegance of a private, high-end retreat. Guests have the rare opportunity to stay in an estate powered by our own hydroelectricity for the past 100 years, surrounded by organic gardens and historic woodlands. Unlike many properties, your stay here is completely private—whether you’re gathering for a special celebration, enjoying the grounds in peace, or simply soaking in the charm of a home where every detail has a story.
