About this property

Stone-Built Village House, Private Pool, Air conditioning, Walk to Shops

La Maison d’ Artiste is a pretty, stone-clad village house set on the edge of Cabrieres D’Avignon, a mediaeval village dating beyond the 11th century.  From its rear garden the house overlooks the countryside and from the front garden the Luberon Mountains are visible above the old Provencal tiled rooves of the nearby village houses. The house has its own little bit of local history - in days gone by the front garden was one of the places where villagers came to thresh their corn on the flat stone surfaces.  It’s rare to find a village house in such a peaceful location yet minutes from shops and restaurants.  Within 10 minutes you can return to your house with a bag full of croissants and a baguette tucked under your arm, ready for leisurely breakfast under the shady mulberry tree. Fabulous swimming pool (8m x 4m, UV filtration, electric cover) and spacious pool house with dining table, chairs, sink, overhead fan, toilet and poolside shower.

The house is on one level with a few steps between the living area and the bedrooms. Lots of privacy as each of the three spacious bedrooms is in different parts of the house and has its own bathroom. One bedroom has a mezzanine area (not suitable for small children) above the bedroom giving the room an additional sitting area. This mezzanine room has sloping ceilings. All bedrooms have french doors leading to outside areas. They are light, bright and extremely comfortable.

The house has been sympathetically renovated, retaining old features. The bathrooms and kitchen are state of the art, the living room with open plan dining area and fireplace is bright spacious and has french doors leading to the rear dining patio. The house is fully air-conditioned.

Wonderful week
We've had a wonderful week here & couldn't have asked for better accommodation & weather. Some trips we particularly enjoyed: -The Sunday market in Coustellet -Cycling up Mont Ventoux (bike hired from Ventoux Bikes in Malaucene) -A day in Avignon visiting la Musee Angladon & la Musee Calvet -A day in Aix-en-Provence visiting Caumont Centre d'Art and La Musee Granet -Lunch & dinner at dinner at the restaurant in Les Cedres, just up the road -Plenty of swimming & barbecues here and gecko watching in the evening! Thanks to Rosie and Carlo for the warm welcome & for keeping the house so well stocked & comfortable. Katharine & Tim, Cambridge, UK

Perfect in Every Way!
Six female senior citizens spent one week (not nearly enough) here in early June. The villa exceeded our expectations. We had three bedrooms, each with its own bath, utility room, kitchen, large dining/living room. We never used the dining table because we ate every meal outside. The weather was wonderful. The house was immaculate as was the pool area and surroundings. Every morning we had fresh croissants and bread from the bakery(less than five minutes away). The care takers were beyond helpful. They gave us lots of help with planning our excursions and made our stay perfect. This villa would be wonderful for anyone (except possibly someone with small children because of the nearness of the pool). I highly recommend this location and hope to go back one day. Wonderful house in charming village
We spent a wonderful week in this charming, comfortable house which is even more attractive than its pictures. It is spacious yet cozy with a large open and airy dining/living room area anchored by a fireplace, a well laid out kitchen with everything you could possible need, and 2 spacious and private bedrooms with their own bathrooms at opposite ends of the house. A lovely pool and pool house are in the front, surrounded by colorful flowers in the gardens and a view of the Luberon mountains. An intimate patio in the back, under a mulberry tree and surrounded by lush plantings and a vineyard and woods in the distance, is a wonderful setting for meals, cocktails, and relaxing times. The village of Cabrieres d”Avignon is a real treat. Beige stone houses and drystone walls line the narrow streets and invite casual strolls through the town. Every morning, we got fresh croissants for breakfast from the bakery which is an easy 5 minute walk from the house. The village is conveniently located – it was an easy and scenic drive to many nearby towns and villages like Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, and Coustelet and to the daily markets in the Luberon. Le Vieux Bistrot is an excellent restaurant in the village. We loved our stay in this house and hope to come back next year. We especially liked the spacious and open feeling around our house while having the amenities of the village within a short walk. On the patio, we felt like we were in the country but could be at the bakery, grocery, butcher or restaurant in a short walk.

Very Nice House
We have a wonderful time while staying in the house in Provence. We loved the house, especially the kitchen which is very well equipped. I cooked most the dinners during the week we stayed. It is close to the market (Super U), less than 10 min. drive. There are also small grocery store, bakery and a nice restaurant in the villiage.

Why they chose this property

Having holidayed in this area for a number of year we couldn't resist owning our own property in this beautiful region and village. Cabrieres is a sleepy village yet we can walk to a baker, excellent butcher, grocer and two restaurants. We are easy driving distance to other hilltop Luberon villages, three airports and several railway station. There's natural beauty all around us and so much history, Roman and otherwise in nearby towns and the countryside. It's a little slice of paradise!

What makes this property unique

Abundant restaurants and wine farms, historic towns such as Arles, Avignon, St Remy de Provence, Aix en Provence etc.. Plenty of activities if you are a sporty type. Wonderful area for cycling and walking.
