Spacious Condo/ Great Views/Heated Pool/Enclosed Loft

Our 1,700 square foot Cascade Village condo (Unit 31) features three bedrooms and three bathrooms along with an enclosed loft which has a comfortable queen pull out sofa and a day bed/trundle bed for 2 additional twin beds.

The condo is a great family mountain escape with a full kitchen, wood burning fireplace (wood provided), two private decks and amazing views. The condo is fully furnished and offers all the comforts of home. The open living plan and comfortable furnishings and linens all contribute to the warm atmosphere. The living space includes a bar with a wine fridge and a 55' wall mounted flat screen HD TV.

Master - Queen with TV and Ensuite Bath(Upstairs)
2nd - Queen (Main floor)
3rd - 2 Twins (Upstairs)
Enclosed Loft - Day bed with Trundle Bed (2 twins) with TV (Upstairs)

Please note, due to HOA regulations, this unit, and all of the units at Cascade Village, are NOT pet friendly. Also, trailers are not allowed.

As with all properties in the area, the condo does not have AC. Given the day times highs are rarely above 80 while the lows are in the 40s. Open the windows after the sun is behind the mountains and then close them in the morning along with the blinds that face west. This will keep the house plenty cool.

Cascade Village is less than 2 miles north of Purgatory Resort, 26 miles (less than 30 minutes) north of Durango and 25 miles south of Silverton (less than 30 minutes). Free on-site amenities at Cascade Village including an indoor heated pool, sauna, outdoor/indoor hot tubs, pool table, outdoor tennis court, and ski rental shop (with discounts) .

Purgatory offers a complimentary ski shuttle to our Cascade rental guests on a set schedule 1-2 times in the AM and PM during the ski season, on a first come first serve basis. Details will be provided in your rental instructions.

All of the Cascade Village units are equipped with reliable Fiber Optic internet service with an average internet speed of up to 50 Mbps and guests can stream their favorite movies and TV shows on their preferred provider (e.g. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime) using the smart TVs in the unit. With fast and reliable fiber optic WIFI, guests can stream on multiple devices. Cable TV is not available in any units at Cascade Village.

Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

Family getaway

The location was perfect for our two days of snowboarding. Beautiful location! We enjoyed the game room and hot tub. Only recommendation is to state the games are not free. Also our kitchen trash was full, but dinner was close.

There is van that can take you if you do not want to drive each day, and a ski rental store on sight making this a very convenient place to stay. Hot tubs outside and pool were also clean and excellent condition. Only down side was that the internet really doesn't work here so that was a bit of a problem.

Terrible stay at Cascade

I’ve stayed at Cascade in various units for the last few years. This stay was by far a terrible misrepresentation of a decent unit. The kitchen was dirty, the oven was broken, the toilet paper was left in shreds on the roll upon check in, the floor tiles were broken everywhere and had shards coming out to cut feet, there was hair in the showers, no blankets or bedding for a bed, and the fire alarm started to go off because it wasn’t updated. I can honestly say this was a terrible experience with a unit and caused a lot of stress on our family and overall vacation. This condo should have never been on the market as a rental.

Overall a Good Stay

There were a few hiccups with our stay. Upon arrival we had trouble accessing the unit. The door at the top of the stairs ( the unloading location that we figured out the next day was accessible via vehicle) was was programmed correctly but the door to come in from the garage was a totally different code. The frustrating thing was there is no cell service to communicate with the help desk. We had to load up our party of 7 drive 3 miles down the road to talk to someone.

Autumn Escape

Even without this, the home is so inviting that it could have been a blizzard outside and we still would have enjoyed it. At the resort, my kids LOVED the gameroom with a pool table and pinball machines. They also enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool. We spent time in Durango Ziplining and then at Bears Ranch (just a 8 miles away from Cascade Village) horseback riding.

We could not find extra bedding for the pull out couch or the pull out trundle. 2. The breaker for the upstairs blew several times, which was no big deal once we found the breaker box, which luckily was in a downstairs closet. The pool and hot tub were terrific for the kids to get out wiggles after a long drive. The location is pretty, very close to Purgatory, and 30min from town. Plenty of the items needed to make a stay comfy.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This lovely condo in the Cascades development has a spectacular view of the mountains and sits midway between Durango and Silverton. The three bedroom unit includes an upstairs lounging loft with a tv and 2 bedrooms and a downstairs master bedroom. The unit has 3 bathrooms. The balcony overlooking the mountains is small and could use a couple of chairs outside, but the views are really amazing. The unit could use a little tlc, but it is well worth the money. Both Keith and the personnel at Cascades were responsive to all our questions and concerns. The community has a couple of hot tubs, an indoor swimming pool and a gym. We loved the place.

We had a lamp in third BR that had a short would trip the breaker when plugged in. Shuttle bus only runs to the resort twice a day 8:40 and 3:40. Need 4WD car to get up the hill when snow on the ground. Kitchen was good enough. Wall sockets were all loose upstairs when plugging in items like phone charges and hair dryers they drooped and came out too easily.

Purgatory Ski Trip

The location was perfect just about a mile or two down the road from Purgatory Ski Lifts. We enjoyed being close to the slops for an easy drive to and from the slopes. Covered parking underneath the condos was amazing. Didn't have to worry about snow on the vehicles. One thing I didn't like was that the "Free Shuttle" wasn't user friendly as it's last pick up was way to early at 3:30 when the slopes closed at 4. IMO shuttles should run an hour before and after lifts open no matter the date otherwise it's not a "Free Shuttle" service for the property. We just drove to the slopes. Only thing we would recommend is having the beds checked. Just found after the trip from a friend that some of the other beds where not in the best stable condition. Probably just needs some new wood, leveling, or strong screws to fix the shaky bed frames.

Main living area with bathroom and bedroom for grandparents on the main floor. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a loft upstairs for the kids. Plenty of room for us all to hangout together, but escape if needed. Location is quiet and views are beautiful. 35 minutes from Durango, but a great little store 4 miles away for necessities. Pool closes at 9:00. We would have liked to see it open til at least 10:00. Restaurant was pretty pricey, but food was excellent. Had a maintenance issue that was not addressed while we were there. Communication was good about their attempts to get someone in to look at it, just not able to get to it before we left. Dryer is vented inside so makes for a warmer condo doing laundry in the summer. Great little balcony, just know you need chairs to relax out on it. Loved watching the hummingbirds!

Very Nice Location and Facilities

Overall this was a very nice property. The location was great. The access to and from the property was easy. There was plenty of space and rooms for my family. The only real downside was the smell. There was a terrible smell throughout the property that smelled like some sort of animal urination. We did notify the property management and they said they would have the carpets cleaned and that animals weren't allowed. We didn't have any animals with us and there is no way that the cleaning crew didn't notice that smell if they were just there to clean.
