Come stay at this darling cozy cottage right on the creek.
If you’re coming through Sheridan, grab this chance to stay in an updated and inviting riverside cottage on Big Goose Creek. If you’re traveling solo or with a few others, this property offers a quiet, park-like, private setting. It is centrally located in the community situated two blocks from Kendrick Park and six blocks from downtown.
It has the feel of a more rural setting thanks to the many large trees on the banks of Big Goose Creek, which runs right through the back yard--about 15 feet out the back door.
When you first come inside, you are greeted by a sunbathed living room decorated with vibrant furniture arranged around the bay window. There are a few books and pamphlets about the area in the hutch across the room . The living room is the heart of this rental, spanning approximately 14X18 feet. The sliding glass door at the end goes straight to the adjacent deck.
The u-shaped kitchen area is fully equipped with the appliances and utensils you need to whip up a home-cooked meal while you’re on the road. Meals can be taken at the high-top table in the kitchen, which has large windows on two sides that overlook the creek. If you have a few guests, the dining area at the far end of the living room can extend out to seat six people. The deck over the creek is nice for a morning cup of coffee, or drinks, dinner, in the company of ducks or late night conversations.
Looking back toward the inside of the house from the breakfast corner, you’ll see a narrow hallway. The doorways are precisely 24 inches wide, the walls 30".
The kitchen and bathroom are newly remodeled for comfort and space efficiency. You’ll find new windows through the main floor of the house.
The compact bathroom is stocked with a starter supply of toiletries. The showerhead is fitted with a chlorine filter, so you might notice improved hair and skin health after a few rinses.
The bedroom is set up with comfort and convenience in mind. Jet-setters and globetrotters will find the staple suitcase stand, dresser, chair, bathrobe, iron and board. If you get cold there is an extra blanket in the closet. If you get warm there will be an air conditioner in the window. These are installed only when outside temperatures are high. In the summer this part of Wyoming has a slight breeze that makes for cool nights that are more appreciated when windows are open at night and closed during the day.
The sleeping room in the basement is very cozy, cool in summer warm in winter. On-site laundry is also in the basement.
The upper level of this house has very small but adequate kitchen, a large bedroom/sitting/eating room, a bedroom with 2 twin beds and a bath. The two floors can be rented singly or together. If rented separately there is no way to know if you will be having a neighbor going up and down stairs. however they are no noisy stairs.
The owner hopes you have the best possible stay. Your feedback in the Welcome Book. The house is always a work in progress. Your comments and participation. are much appreciated.

Our stay was AMAZING! The space is comfortable and very conveniently located to down town Sheridan and other areas of interest. The creek running by the creek is cooling and comfortable. Both the deck and front port are welcoming and great retreat from a day's activities.

It was a treat to have you and your sister stay at Creekside. It's always fun to have people who appreciate this little place. Travel well.
Thanks Jeffery! It was so fun to meet you all. I really appreciated the move to put the flowers on the dining table! It never occured to me but it makes the place so much more inviting. Thanks for leaving the place in uch clean order. Travel well and come back soon.
This place was so cute. We loved the location, it was right off the creek and had a nice deck overlooking it. Felt like you were in the middle of the woods. But then it was like a 10 minute walk to Main St with shops and restaurants. Perfect place to stay for our small family.

So glad you liked the location. Thanks for taking such good care of the place. Everything was so spotless! Makes me feel good when people acknowledge the work that goes into this business by keeping it up so nicely.
Location is beautiful: you are sitting on the patio and watching the creek. Close to town center yet very quiet. Good communications by the host. Well-equipped kitchen.

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
The location was great, but unfortunately, the stay itself was very disappointing. When we arrived shortly after our 3 pm check-in, it was clear the house had not been prepared for guests. There were dirty dishes in the kitchen, old coffee still in the pot, garbage in both the kitchen and bathroom, no towels or shampoo, one of the beds was unmade, and shopping bags were scattered across the dining table. We immediately contacted the host through the VRBO app and by phone, but did not receive a response for more than six hours. The host eventually came after 9pm to make the bed and do some last-minute cleaning, but by then our evening was already disrupted.Another concern: the downstairs basement bedroom (accessed through an unfinished area) does not appear to meet Wyoming’s fire egress requirements, which raises real safety issues. Also worth noting, part of the house seems to be rented separately, which is not clearly stated in the listing.Overall, while the property’s location is good, the lack of preparation, slow response from the host, and safety concerns make this a place I would not rent again.

Thanks Christy, for your review. Lots of opportunities for improvement here. Maybe you didn't see and read that the upstairs apt is not being rented. You are right about the basement bedroom. I am going to move it upstairs. Come back next year to appreciate the changes.
About the host
Hosted by Heather Plank
I am one of few who was born and raised in Sheridan Wyoming. I enjoy tending to properties and guests.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because this block of houses backs right up to one of the main creeks that go through town. The other major feature is the location. One can walk to the PO, the grocery, the theaters, restaurants, parks, schools and downtown is only 6 blocks away. It is on the Sheridan Pathway Trails system so one can walk most anywhere away from cars.
What makes this property unique
It was built in 1936 when this area of town was still mostly rural. It is small, only 1500 sf total, designed in the standard architectural vernacular of the neighborhood. It stands out as the "cutest little house in town" due to the fact that is has a large side yard next to the creek, is white with a red roof in the midst of muted colored houses and it has had a white porch swing, Once inside and after one has peeked all around the first comment they make is, "I want to live here."
