Beds -N- Sheds owners Joe and Karen Vander Laan created their business to share their love of the Iowa Great Lakes area with others.

"We wanted to offer a place where people could come and relax, rest and restore - and also to have fun enjoying the amenities of the Lakes area... We want others to come and enjoy the lakes like we do."

Joe grew up camping in Okoboji and couldn't get moved to the area fast enough. He studied business administration at Iowa Lakes in Estherville and has been building homes for 30 years in the Okoboji region.

Karen grew up in Minnesota and visited the Lakes area as a kid with her family. She is retired after 27 years selling real estate.

Joe and Karen met 30 years ago and made their home in the Spirit Lake area. They have 2 children and look forward to spending their retirement years doing God's work and sharing their love of the Lakes with others through this business.

comfortable and convenient!

we booked 3 rooms for us/kids/grandkids so we could enjoy a quick trip to experience Okoboji. the accommodations were great - easy access to each other for shared fun but also separation for sleeping. will definitely consider staying again!

This is our second time staying here . Karen,Joe,and Ross are the best !! They go out of their way to make your stay awesome ! They are friendly, kind, and so accommodating to whatever you may need to make your stay comfortable! We love the furnishings, the peaceful surroundings!
