For our 2022 season, we are continuing to offer an Ultra-clean stay in our lovely peaceful lodge. Our commitment is that the Lodge will be thoroughly sanitized after each guest leaves. Our cleaners will be types recommended be the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for killing the COVID-19 germ.
If you would kindly take a moment to read our guest reviews, you will see that we have always prioritized cleanliness for our guests. We are just “stepping-up” our efforts to ensure that not only are we clean, but as germ-free as possible as well.

So, we invite you to find peace and relaxation in this beautifully renovated Lakefront Lodge with AWESOME views of Diamond Lake. Diamond Lake is an all-sport 200-acre lake in Newaygo County in the Manistee National Forest area of Michigan. Diamond Lake offers GREAT, fishing (perch, bass, crappie), swimming, boating & kayaking/canoeing. Two kayaks are included with the rental. The lake is clean with sandy bottom swimming. Public boat launch very near the Lodge if you would like to bring a boat. The Lodge sits atop a small bluff (thus the beautiful views) and has a newly added feature called Corey's Place which is located half-way down the bluff to the water. It is a 12' x 20' landing carved into the hillside with a large fire ring and seating. The s'mores never tasted so good as they do when you are sitting, reading, relaxing & looking over the lake from Corey's Place. The Lodge interiors are a contemporary industrial lodge feel with all the comforts of home. Full kitchen with everything you would need (minus the food of course). The 40' deck on the lake side of the lodge is furnished with seating for eating, cooking (gas grill), lounging and gathering. You will find this spot perfect for your getaway. It is very CLEAN and lends itself to not only an indoor place to stay, but an outdoor place to play as well.

Getaway 2021

The Overlook Lodge was wonderful and the greeting by Gordon and Tamela was a first for us. We have rented several placed over the years and never has anyone met us upon arrival. A brief tour was provided and a gift of wine and snacks were provided. The lodge was well decorated and great for relaxing. The kitchen was well stocked and included all utensils/appliances needed for preparing meals. The weather was great so most of our time was spent outside. The deck was spacious and the furniture great for relaxing. Corey's place was great for nightly fires and having the view of the lake was great. The lake is very clean and we swam and fished it daily. The lake has a no wake ordinance in the morning and evening which was great for kayaking. We visited Newaygo which has some great shops along with Timbertown Coffee and River Stop Cafe which were our two favorites.

Quiet lake vacation!

My family and I had a wonderful time at this clean and comfortable home next to a beautiful lake. The host was very gracious and easy to communicate with. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and supplies for cooking. We’d definitely come back and would recommend to family and friends.

Memories made!

One of the best rentals we have ever done! Our hosts were amazing and our gift was so kind. We relaxed and swam all week. Everything that you could think of is provided at the Overlook. We taught the kids how to kayak and tube. The water is crystal clear. Can’t say enough wonderful things about this property. We will definitely be back next year!

Idyllic Lake Getaway

Gordon and Tamela were the most fantastic hosts, and their place was the perfect getaway from the big city that we needed. Everything was incredibly clean and safe given the pandemic, and they made us feel so welcome. The house is so thoughtfully decorated, and the kitchen is very well-stocked for us foodies. We enjoyed building a fire almost every day, and we loved hearing the family of loons. We hope to be back sometime!

The perfect getaway

The owners clearly have a strong passion for this home and for making sure guests have a wonderful stay. We sure did. Wonderful relaxing stay!

This property was amazing! Tamela and Gordon were terrific! Beautiful inside and out with every detail covered. The weather was not the best for us- somewhat cold and rainy at times but we still managed to kayak, fish and ride around in the pontoon boat. We took day trips to Muskegon, Fremont and Big Rapids. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable stay for us.

Everything we wished for and more

I cannot speak more highly of Tamela and Gordon. From the moment that they met us at check-in until we checked out - they were friendly, accommodating, and genuinely excited about their cottage and their desire that we enjoy our time to the fullest. We had an incredible time kayaking, fishing, enjoying fires in the firepit, grilling, and most importantly engaging in the most important activity of all: relaxing. There's some noise from boats on the lake but it's not oppressive and it's only during the day. For the rest of our time we enjoyed just sitting outside and listening to nature. The back deck is huge and has more seating than you can possibly need. We both read for hours at a time in perfect comfort. The deck is almost entirely shaded so sunshine is a bit hard to come by but I bet this is a huge plus in the summer. A few highlights are the loons, Cory's Place, and my personal favorite: the sunrises! My goodness are the sunrises here amazing. I want to make sure to note that linens and towels were provided for us even though the listing said they weren't. Obviously that was a very nice surprise and saved us the hassle of stripping the bed and gathering our wet towels to bring home with us. We only used one bed but it was very comfortable. I'm not much of a sleeper but I got over 9 hours of sleep on 2 of our 4 nights there. Thanks again for the incredible time. I almost had to be dragged out of here I loved it so much.

The perfect spot!

This is the place for us! Perfect for our family - 2 adults and 2 teens. The house was beautiful and clean and simply had everything we needed or could have needed. The lake was warm and clean-we all loved the fishing and swimming and kayaking and boating. We truly relaxed on this vacation and let’s be honest, not all vacations are relaxing! We really just also loved to sit and take in the peace and quiet and the view. If we had more time I would have already booked my next weekend away there. It just gave us the opportunity to bond with our kids and reconnect that we needed. Thanks Gordon and Tamela for sharing this gem with us!

We loved our stay! The owners were so thoughtful in every detail- even leaving gifts for us. The deck off the back of the house was our favorite spot to hangout in the shade. My 12 year old and 10 year old spent all the days playing in the lake. Couldn’t ask for a better family trip.

Overlook Lodge

The Overlook Lodge is wonderful. The owners were very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. The Lodge is very clean and nicely decorated. It is supplied with many things which is nice and helpful. The view of the lake is awesome. We took advantage of Corey’s Place. It is a great hangout spot to relax, make s’mores and observe the lake. The Overlook Lodge is a great vacation rental. My family and I highly recommend it.

Wonderful Stay!

We had a great time during our 4 night stay at the Overlook Lodge. The property is on a beautiful piece of land that "overlooks" the lake. There is a great fire pit area that has the best view on the lake. Fishing off of the dock was a lot of fun. We caught bass and bluegill just about every cast. The house itself was great and very well decorated. There was not one problem during our stay, and we will definitely book again if we get the chance to be back in the area. Thank you Gordon and Tamela for a wonderful stay! Everything was perfect.

Wonderful Hillside retreat

The Overlook Lodge is a well hidden gem, nestled into the hillside of beautiful Diamond Lake. The owners are wonderful hosts! They personally met us to give our family a guided tour of the property and even went to the extent of giving our family personal gifts. The lodge itself is well decorated and well appointed as far as supplies necessary for every day living and cooking. We will definitely be back in the near future.

The Overlook Lodge was a great treat!!! Everything was so nice from the location, environment, amenities, outdoor space, decor, and last but not least the hospitality!!! We were greeted and given a quick tour of the lodge and they had a gift for us to enjoy while we were there!!! Diamond Lake was a joy!!! The temperature & cleanliness made kayaking, boating, loon watching and fishing soooo fun and relaxing!!! White Cloud & Fremont were just a short drive if you needed anything. We spent most of our time at the lodge but one day we ventured 45min. to Silver Lake to enjoy the dunes!!! We enjoyed our time here so much that the family voted this their favorite vacation!!! Thank you for the memories!!!
