Beautiful, historic home and location that was warm and welcoming to our group of family and friends. Sunset views with the bugle echoing over the water from the Navy base nearby is a must experience while sitting by the fire pit in the front yard. A short 10 minutes to Portsmouth we flew into Portland, Maine and took an hour drive to get the house. The hosts were incredible and catered a dinner for us the first night that was amazing. Highly recommend staying and we hope to be back someday.

Mindy, you and Kelley and the rest were one of our nicest groups this season . We enjoyed meeting all of you although it was too brief !
We hope that you enjoyed the bluefin tuna -- our son caught another one today --- 650#s ! Thanks again and also for the kind review and "treats" left behind ! Jim & Tudor
This place is spectacular. It is a wonderful spot for a family gathering with plenty of bedrooms with very comfy beds, lots of gathering places but also places to sit quietly and read a book. The kitchen has everything you need and more. The dining room had plenty of seating to gather and enjoy a meal together. There is a set of table and chairs in the kitchen and another set on the deck, both make wonderful spots to have your morning coffee or tea.The few of the ocean can’t be beat. The new fire pit is a wonderful addition and a great spot to relax, sip a cocktail/mocktail, and watch the world go by. Jim and Tudor were very welcoming and were available to answer any questions. If you have a chance have them cook you a lobster dinner and make sure you order one of their pies, delicious!

Thanks Colleen, you and your group were great guests and we enjoyed seeing the fire pit in action ! We hope to see you again in the future , thanks, Jim & Tudor
A beautiful waterfront property with lovely views awaits you at this Kittery Point location! The hosts are gracious and accommodating and will make your stay exceptional! Be sure to order delicious homemade lobster rolls and fruit pies. The rooms throughout the house are spacious, well-decorated and clean. The kitchen has every thing you'll need to prepare and serve meals for even large groups (we were 12 people). Kayaks, a large back porch and a fire pit are noteworthy amenities. Nearby attractions include Portsmouth (harbor and Strawbery Banke), York Beach and Ogunquit. Five stars!

We visited a bit off season but that added to the fun! The seals kept the kids ( big people too) entertained , the eagle paid a visit, and we especially enjoyed the two forts that were so close by. The Red Cottage is beautiful and spacious… everything we were looking for!!!!

Our stay here was incredible. The location, space, and amenities were perfect for our weekend. The owners were great and ready to help with any issues we experienced during our stay, even though it was winter. Property was well maintained and perfect for a stay of our size of guests.Highly recommend, especially if you are looking for a summer getaway - the lake is TOO gorgeous to not take advantage of!

Dominick, many thanks --- you were all terrific guests and we hope to see you back again --- I am planning something special for you !
Truly can't say enough great things about this wonderful property. The location is fantastic-gorgeous views but close to Kittery and Portsmouth. It was the perfect location for our birthday celebration group of 12. Everyone had their own space but easily gathered together in one of the many communal space options. We were lucky to have incredible weather so sitting together on the porch became a favorite for everyone. Our hosts were terrific and accommodating and I loved chatting with them to find out more about the history behind the Red Cottage. The cottage itself was pristine and having access to an elevator and handicapped accessible bedroom/bathroom was very helpful. Some of our guests are hoping to book the space themselves for their own family reunion. Thank you for everything Jim and Tudor (and Dewey!)!

Sheila, thanks for a very special review. You were a great group and we are so pleased that everything worked out well for you. We certainly do hope that you and others in your group will return.
Dewey was especially fond of you and he is not an easy dog to please !
Again, many thanks, Jim & Tiudor
We absolutely adored our stay at the Red Cottage! For a family of 10 adults and 5 young boys, there was plenty of space for everyone. While we could have been very comfortable in the cottage all week, we prefer to be outside and couldn't get enough of the calm pebble beach (with brand new stone bench built into the sea wall); many kayak and canoe rides over the crystal clear waters; and enjoying reading, meals, or games on the lovely deck. A fire pit with partial wraparound stone bench is nearly complete and made a perfect pirate ship for the young pirates we brought on the trip.We were lucky that our trip coincided with the tall ships arriving in Portsmouth and were invited to watch the arrival from Jim and Tudor's lawn. The views were stunning. We were fortunate to not "need" the elevator; however, the kids enjoyed getting around on it and it was very helpful with luggage. The bunk room does have a staircase in it; however, we just used the elevator when anyone was sleeping in the bunk room, so no issues. We could easily cook any meal between the large indoor and outdoor kitchens, but for our lobster dinner, Jim acquired and cooked the most delicious lobsters. Other food was prepared for us during the week and it was absolutely delicious. Jim and Tudor - Thank you for sharing this lovely cottage and being such wonderful hosts!

Jessica, many thanks for your kind review -- Tudor and I really enjoyed having all of your family here . It was most gratifying to see everyone enjoying the beach and property as we do. My childhood memories of spending days in the cove will always remain an important part of my early life. It is wonderful to have young children experiencing the best that the coast of Maine has to offer.
You became good friends in the brief time that you were at the Red Cottage and we do hope to see you back again. Thanks ! Jim & Tudor
As an avid fan of this service, this place stands near the top. You enjoy the view, the rooms, kitchen, the kayaks, and the kindness of the owners.

Jeanette, thanks for staying with us and for your kind review.
Yes, a week at the Cottage in the summer is just too brief.
We saw all of you from our house down on the beach with the little ones and were tempted to join you, but respected that this was your time with family.
It It did my heart good to see the little ones enjoying the beach and cove and brought back memories of many happy days down there in my youth .
Please consider joining us again in the future, Jim & Tudor
What an amazing home and a gorgeous location! We could not have asked for better! Our hosts, Jim and Tudor, were very responsive to our questions, but never intrusive. On our last evening, we were already trying to figure out how and when to return.

Perfect coastal getaway with historical charm — a true winter wonderland! We absolutely loved our stay at this Kittery Point home. The property was charming, comfortable, and full of historical charm that made the experience feel special from the moment we arrived. Visiting in winter made it even more magical — the whole area felt like a peaceful winter wonderland. The location is amazing — quiet and private, yet just a short drive to beaches, restaurants, and all the coastal spots we wanted to explore. The home had everything we needed and truly felt like a relaxing retreat. The host was friendly, responsive, and made check-in a breeze. We can’t wait to come back in the summer and experience this beautiful place in a whole new way. Highly recommend!

Shannon, first of all, many thanks for choosing to stay at the Red Cottage and also for being such great guests.
We so much appreciate your review -- especially since your visit was not during high season and therefore you were able to expound on the beauty of the location during the winter months. The beauty of the winter on the coast is not known to many , and you beautifully described it for others--- thanks !!!
Stayed there in October, beautiful weather and leaves changing color. Great location, easy access to all sites, museums etc still open and fewer crowds. Plenty to do on property as well, or do nothing and enjoy the views. Owners nearby if needed.
