We had a lovely stay. It is a bit remote but it’s worth it. The view is amazing. We enjoyed the very clean pool and hot tub with the crashing wave sound in the background! The kitchen had all of the items we needed for making meals. The host was responsive and helpful. We would definitely recommend and would love to visit here again.

The view was spectacular. The home was well stocked with everything we needed. Everyone in our group slept well and had plenty of space. The outdoor area was perfect for relaxing by the pool and watching sunsets and sunrises from the hot tub.

Kitchen had all essentials. The hot tub and pool were perfect. Each bedroom had a bathroom, super helpful. The view was absolutely breathtaking. We were literally right on the ocean. Loved the house!!

Great location right on the ocean front. The weather wasn’t too kind to us but we watched whales from the house and the waves crashing up along the coast. All the facilities we needed.

Very nice and roomy place to stay for our vacation

Our group had a great time at the house. The view was fantastic and we had great sunrises. The pool and the hot tub were very nice and we had it all to ourselves. Nice big kitchen for cooking and outdoor grilling. Great place for a vacation!!

Loved the house and location

We loved staying on the Hilo side of Hawaii and this home's location was great. We saw whales and porpoise from the deck. We loved the home and being right on the shoreline.

Mika Kai was amazing, beautiful home situated on a spectacular stretch of coastline! The home is very comfortable and well appointed, was the perfect place for relaxation after our long days sightseeing and adventuring!

I have no complaints about the property itself, but overall I do not think it was a good fit for us.This property is perfect if you wish to stay at the house, relax on the deck / pool, watch the ocean, and use the hot tub. The lack of central A/C (bedrooms only) wouldn't be a problem if one was home all day and could leave doors / windows open for the breeze. We used it as a home base while we visited the national park, botanical gardens, and other sites. The problem with using the house for this purpose was that the house sat and baked in the sun all day while we were gone and the doors / windows were closed. When we returned in the evening, we entered a home which had been sitting locked up in the sun and warmer than the outside temperature. The home would get warm enough that the bedroom A/C units couldn't cool it down adequately by the time we went to bed.I want to specify that this was not a problem with the house itself, but simply a mismatch for how we used it. The views were gorgeous, the house came stocked with many helpful touches, and the space is good for small or large groups. The neighborhood is quiet. The property manager was responsive to questions and concerns. I would book this again for a quiet retreat with nice views. I would not book again as a place to sleep while out sight-seeing during the day.
