Traditional Cottage and Garden Studio with Balcony, Terrace and Views to the Sea

Charming traditional house which sits on a hill above the pretty villag of Karousades. There are magnificent sea and mountain views from the balcony, a great place to enjoy your morning coffee! The ground floor features a built-in kitchen and dining area plus a bathroom/shower. Wooden stairs lead to the spacious bed/living room on the first level which features a double bed and a settee and leads to the balcony.

The property includes a separate studio opposite which was recently refurbished and combined is ideal for 2 couples to share or a family to spread out. The studio has its own sleeping are, shower and kitchenette.

At the back of the studio is a large shady veranda and garden where one can ralax away from the midday heat or enjoy open air living in the evening. From the house it is just a 5 min walk to the village centre with bakery, pharmacy, tavernas and a supermarket. Karousades is a very traditional village and the residents are very friendly and helpful. We have often come home to find fresh vegtables or fruit on the door-step.
The property is under two miles from the peaceful sandy beach at Astrakiri where there are a 3 excellent restaurants with beautiful sea views.

Karousades is perfectly located to explore the North of the island. Whilst there is a bus service to Corfu town and local attractions you will get the most from your stay if you hire a car or scooter. There are local agencies for hiring vehicles in Rhoda and Acharavi or from the airport. Its best to book in advance in the high season as otherwise you coud miss out!

Corfu is also called the green island becaue of its extensive green olive groves which help to make the place feel cool and produces the tasty local olive oil. There are estimated to be well over three million olive trees being cultivated, covering roughly a third of the Island.

The north of Corfu is renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches. Hire a car or a scooter and take a tour of the North and its many magnificent beaches or go West to enjoy spectacular sunsets over the sea.

A real Greek village, quiet and away from the hotspots but within easy reach of beaches and tourist towns. Lovely friendly neighbours. Simon was easily contactable, Spiros met us when we arrived and made sure we had plenty of bottled water when the supply to the village was temporarily off

There were several roaches and the old air conditioner filled up with no way of changing it out... I think a modern aircon is needed in the main house as we suffered the summer heat and made it uncomfortable to get good rest. The host didn't respond until morning and didn't know how to help us. Other than that, the host was nice and though it took him and his assistant a couple days to fix the shower head in the lower house, they managed to take care of it.. The little porch and garden was the highlight of this place. Beds are stiff and firm. The place is cute and fairly spacious.

An amazing find!

We were so pleased to find this beautiful little house in a village amongst the locals far away from the tourist resorts- real Corfu! The property is a traditional stone building restored very lovingly inside. Modern, clean & having all that you need. The views from the house are amazing of the distant hills and sea and you wake up each morning to see such wonders from the kingsize bed! The nearest beach and taverna serving excellent food is 5 minutes drive away. Our favourite beach was at Agni bay- such clear warm water & the sight of little fish swimming round your ankles! Your own transport is a must so that you can explore this beautiful island. We would thoroughly recommend this property & hope to return again.

Ce que l’annonce ne dit pas: la Location se trouve sur deux maisons différentes séparées par une ruelle. D’un côté, la chambre à coucher avec la cuisine ainsi qu’une mini salle de bain dont seuls les toilettes sont utilisables. De l’autre côté, une salle de bain avec toilettes et la terrasse. Pour accéder aux deux parties de la Location, il faut traverser la ruelle du village et fermer la porte à clef à chaque fois. La qualité du matelas est exécrable, mal au dos. Prétendument wi-fi disponible, mais il faut argumenter avec le propriétaire en utilisant des données d’itinérance. Deux jours avant le départ, plus d’eau courante dans la location. Argumentations sans fin et mauvaise foi avec la personne responsable sur place et avec le propriétaire. Je ne peux en aucune façon recommander cette location.

Dieses charmante Dorfhaus hat unsere Erwartungen wirklich übertroffen! Die Lage auf einem Hügel ist etwas besonderes – es ist ruhig, authentisch, und abseits der Touristenströme. Wir trafen dort auf freundliche Griechen, die uns herzlich willkommen geheißen haben.Der Höhepunkt ist zweifelsohne der atemberaubende Meerblick, den man vom Berg aus genießt. Auch die Wohnung hat an mehreren Stellen Meerblick: auf dem Balkon und auf der unteren Ebene der Terasse. Besonders die großzügige Terrasse wurde zu unserem Lieblingsplatz. Hier haben wir schön gefrühstückt oder abends entspannte Stunden verbracht.Das Haus selbst lässt kaum Wünsche offen: Es ist überraschend geräumig, sehr sauber und durchdacht ausgestattet. In der Küche im oberen Hausteil kann man gut Kochen, und die Klimaanlagen sorgen auch an heißen Tagen für angenehme Temperaturen.Wichtiger Hinweis: Diese Unterkunft ist eher für Reisende mit eigenem Auto. Zu Fuß kommt man zwar auch zum Wasser, aber man ist schon mindestens 15-20 Minuten unterwegs. Dafür ist es aber umso lohnenswerter mit dem Wagen. Von hier aus lassen sich viele Strände sehr schnell und problemlos erreichen. Vom Flughafen braucht man ungefähr eine Stunde zur Unterkunft.Besonders hervorzuheben ist auch der Gastgeber, der jederzeit hilfsbereit, freundlich und blitzschnell in der Kommunikation war.Fazit: Eine rundum gelungene Unterkunft für alle, die das authentische Korfu erleben und dabei nicht auf Komfort verzichten möchten. Wir bedanken uns!

Unterkunft vorzeitig verlassen

Unsere Erwartung, Vorstellungen wurden leider nicht erfüllt. Wir wollten 14 Tage verweilen, sind aber leider vorzeitig umgezogen in eine andere Unterkunft. Der Ausblick vom Balkon ist herrlich. Die Unterkunft für einfache Ansprüche und für 2 Personen ist ok. Wir hatten leider extreme Rückenschmerzen nach einigen Nächten auf dem Bett. Leider war auch die angrenzende Terrasse nicht zu nutzen, insgesamt ungepflegt und die Kissen und Auflagen schimmelig. Wir hätten uns auch gewünscht, dass mit unserer Beschwerde anders umgegangen wäre. Wir können den Aufenthalt in diesem Ferienobjekt nicht weiterempfehlen. Es gibt wesentlich bessere Möglichkeiten für das Budget.

Schöne Unterkunft in nettem Dorf abseits des Tourismus

Wir haben hier 3 wundervolle Wochen verbracht. Das Häuschen ist gemütlich und liebevoll eingerichtet und es ist alles da, was man braucht. Der Balkon bietet einen sensationellen Blick über Meer, Küste und Berge. Karousades (speziell der obere Teil, in dem sich das Dorfhaus befindet) ist ein nettes kleinen Dorf mit sehr offenen und sympathischen Menschen. Die Lage des Dorfes war für unsere Bedürfnisse ideal und bietet eine Mischung aus möglichen Aktivitäten und Seele baumeln lassen. Es gibt schöne Strände in der Nähe, viele nette Tavernen und tolle Wanderwege (nicht immer ausreichend markiert, es empfiehlt sich evtl., die aktualisierte Auflage des Rother Wanderführer mitzubringen). Wir fanden es sehr praktisch, einen Motorroller gemietet zu haben. (Kleiner Tipp: die 80 ccm sind fast zu schwach, um zu zweit den Berg hoch zu kommen.) Wir wären gerne noch länger geblieben und können die Ferienunterkunft wärmstens empfehlen. Vielen Dank, Stefanie Busse!

Schönes kleines Haus in ruhiger Dorflage

Wir haben uns in dem Haus sehr wohlgefühlt. Es war alles Nötige vorhanden und gemütlich eingerichtet. Der kleine Balkon mit dem herrlichen Blick über die Bucht hat uns besonders gut gefallen. 100%ige Weiterempfehlung für Menschen, die Ruhe und Originalität suchen. Sehr freundliche, aufgeschlossene Nachbarschaft.

Unser Urlaub in dem schönem Häuschen war für mich eine wunderbare Entspannungszeit. Die Sonnenaufgänge und Abende auf dem Balkon waren herrlich, genau, wie die Ortschaft und die Unterkunft. Wer sich nach Entspannung, einen nicht überfüllten Strand in der Nähe und einen Urlaub in einem gemütlichen Dorf und Haus, ohne Fernseher, dafür aber mit netten Nachbarn sehnt, der ist hier gut aufgehoben. Idyllische,ursprüngliche hübsche Unterkunft mit Fernblick umringt von gastfreundlichen Dorfbewohnern

Ende Mai/ Anfang Juni 2018 hatten wir zwei Gernewanderer ( 59 und 60 Jahre) das Vergnügen, in diesem außergewöhnlichen Ferienhaus abseits des pulsierenden Tourismus und im Zugriff auf eine sehr schöne Wanderregion knappe drei Wochen zu urlauben. Die hochsommerlichen Wetterbedingungen haben uns auf unseren zahlreichen Touren (Navi ratsam) die Langsamkeit entdecken lassen: Wunderbar! Die tägliche Rückkehr ins Häuschen war wie ein Nachhausekommen, begrüßt von den offenen korfiotischen Nachbarn, Hunden und Katzen. Prima Lage, am Dorfrand, Auto frei! Das alte zweigeschossige Haus ist typgerecht restauriert, geschmackvoll eingerichtet, die Fotos geben den Charme des Hauses und der näheren Umgebung gut wieder. Der oftmals absinkende Wasserdruck wurde unkompliziert durch eine elektrische Pumpe neben dem Haus ausgeglichen. Bei Fragen oder möglichen Problemen (wir hatten keine!) konnte ein gut Englisch sprechender "Hausmeister" jederzeit kontaktiert werden, der bei Bedarf innerhalb von 10 Minuten hätte vorbeikommen können. Die Nächte waren recht warm und die Mücken zahlreich. Unser Lieblingsplatz: der kleine schmale Balkon mit Fernblick auf die Küste und dem regen Dorfleben im Ohr. An unserem Abreisetag Baubeginn der Balkonvergrößerung. Unter´m Strich: wir haben einen unserer schönsten Urlaube dort verbracht.

sehr, sehr schön und ursprünglich!

Auch wenn unsere Bewertung etwas verspätet abgegeben wird, ist es dennoch möglich, die intensiven Eindrücke noch gut zusammen zu fasen: Es fing an mit einem sehr netten Kontakt mit der Vermietern, ging weiter mit einer sehr guten Betreuung vor Ort durch den griechischen Nachbarn Nikos und hört nun auf mit unserem Text hier. Die Erholung ist etwas her, war aber definitiv gegeben! Das Häuschen liegt in einem kleinen urigen Bergdorf mit fast nur Griechen - wer also wirklich Griechenland kennenlernen will, ist hier genau richtig. Busse fahren täglich mehrmals, das klappt sehr gut (sie kommen nicht pünktlich, dafür nehmen sie einen mit, egal wo man steht, wenn man winkt). Wir hatten zusätzlich ein Auto, das war natürlich Luxus. Das Häuschen ist sehr süß und einfach und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Wir hatten den Luxus, dass wir noch nebenan die große Terrasse benutzen durften, was für uns einfach nur ein Traum und ein guter und langer Einstieg in den Tag bedeutete (Frühstück und lange Leseeinheit täglich dort, es stehen echt gute Bücher in den Regalen!). Wir haben uns gerade wegen des Eintauchens in das einfach griechische Leben, das so anders ist als das hier, sehr gut erholt, kommen dieses Jahr wieder und von daher war es genau das Richtige für uns! Wir freuen uns auf die Ursprünglichkeit und die Abgeschiedenheit von jeglichem Tourirummel und "unser Häuschen";-) Alexandra & Frank

Ein perfekter Urlaub...

Karroussades und das Ferienhaus haben genau das geboten, was wir uns erhofft haben! Ein malerisches, kleines Dorf mit kleinen Häusern und engen Gässchen, angenehm untouristisch, obwohl wir wirklich mitten in der Hauptsaison (Anfang August) dort waren. Total ruhig und beschaulich, trotzdem gibts neben netten Tavernen alle Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, die man braucht, um den täglichen Bedarf zu decken. Und das in 5 Minuten Fußweg :-) Zum Strand (Yialos Beach) sinds zu Fuß rund 20 Minuten - er ist zwar klein, dafür aber auch ausgesprochen wenig besucht und ruhig... Direkt daneben unsere LIeblingstaverne: Taverna Yialos - supernette BesitzerInnen, wunderbares Essen und ausgesprochen gemütlich. Das Haus - klein aber fein - ist hübsch renoviert, freundlich eingerichtet und mit allem Nötigen ausgestattet. Der Balkon ist zwar recht klein - die Aussicht ist dafür aber wunderschön... Fazit: Wir hatten wunderbar entspannende zwei Urlaubswochen, haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und sind sehr angenehm ohne fahrbaren Untersatz ausgekommen. Allerdings sollte man schon recht gut zu Fuß sein und gerne gehen, da doch einiges an Höhenmetern zu überwinden ist! Die Busverbindungen sind typisch griechisch :-), man erreicht aber auf jeden Fall sein Ziel - Ausflüge nach Sidari (wohin wir wegen des Bankomaten mussten - sonst spricht aber nichts dafür...) oder auch Korfu Stadt sind daher leicht möglich.

A real 'away from it all' relaxing holiday

We were met and showed to the cottage and first impressions were slightly apprehensive.....due to location. But once we had settled in and got our bearings we absolutley loved both the house and it's location. Sidari was just a short drive away for the odd evening out and a tribute show or two! Lots of nice traditional places to eat within easy reach.

Our perfect holiday

We found this beautiful apartment online while looking for a place to stay on Corfu Island. We wanted something a little bit off “the beaten path”, away from the main tourist hangouts, large enough for two, fairly close to the coast and with cooking facilities. We were definitely not disappointed – it even exceeded our expectations! This apartment is both romantic and cosy and a good size for one or two people. One can buy anything one needs in downtown Karousades, which is about a 5 minute walk away. Definitely try the bread from the local bakery! The facilities are good and we cooked for ourselves the entire two and a half weeks we were there. We were there in the off season, but one can tell from the feel of the town that it is not frequented as often by tourists, even during the high season (in contrast to the towns on the coast, such as Sidari). A reason for this may be that Karousades is on a fairly steep hill, which isn’t to be underestimated when planning to go out. There are bus stops nearby, but we never took them and we didn’t find out the schedules. We were here with our bikes, which we only recommend if one is fit, as the northern part of the island is very hilly. It was a good work out though ;). For those wanting to get out of the house often we would recommend having a car. When we had questions about the apartment, the service was always very quick and to our full satisfaction. The view from balcony is absolutely gorgeous and makes up for it being a bit narrow. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment and would definitely recommend it to others!

Why they chose this property

In Karousades you get to live in the village and meet its people. You get a much greater intimacy with the culture and the simple life away from the tourist hotspots. It is right in the middle of the North coast so you can wake up and choose to go East towards Kassiopi or West towards Agios Georgios beach. Or just stay local and go down to the beach and hang out at one of the 3 great beach restaurants.

Last year we extended the balcony so you can sit outside in comfort for your morning coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine. The view from up there is panoramic from the sea to the mountains across acres of Olive groves. Enjoy!
