Awesome views from a comfortable two bedroom house that sleeps 7 . Lighted private pier just above the Caney Creek "Y" with excellent fishing. Less than 1 minute to Intracoastal Waterway, and 5 minutes to East Matagorda Bay by boat. Enjoy seeing most of Texas' water birds right from your own deck. This is a guest favorite with fishing families returning time and again. Master bedroom has a queen bed , 2nd bedroom has a pyramid bunk and a queen sized bed. Half Bath access from Living room. Full bath down hallway.

We had a great stay at the Fishing House. House was very clean and well stocked. The fishing started slow but ended up doing pretty good. I would definitely stay again.

Wonderful property, good fishing from the dock. Lots of wind during our stay, but that's not the house's fault. One improvement I would like to see is an extension of the walkway to the pier so you don't have to wade through the water at high tide.

The Host was very nice and accommodating. New steps going up to the house and new walkway out to the fishing pier. The pier had great lighting and a plug for your filet knife. The fishing is always amazing from this pier. We caught specs mixed in with a lot of large sand trout at night under the lights. We caught flounder, black drum, redfish, croaker also. Fishing was excellent during the day too. We caught about a 4 lb flounder and about a dozen redfish off of pier the largest redfish was 35” and 25”. Just a very amazing fishing trip. The house was perfect for fishing. We have rented many houses on Caney and on the intercoastal and the “fish house” is by far the best fishing!

Weekend Getaway

We had a lot of fun and relaxation this weekend. While our daughter preferred to spend most of her time enjoying the WIFI inside, my husband spent most of his time on the pier! We caught some fish, but the downside was the bait shops didn't have any "live" bait! My husband caught some shad of the pier with his cast net and we had some platics that we used to catch a few keepers! We will definitely be back as Sargent is one of our favorite fishing places! The beach was nice too. The water was beautiful this weekend!

Place was very clean! Fishing peer is great and fishing was incredible! Caught 58 fish including black drum, sand sea trout, sheepshead, flounder and 1 chair that blew into the water. 3 crab from the crab trap. All in three nights! Great place and would definitely recommend!

Everything was spot on. The host was great and fishing pretty decent considering the weather and time of year. Update needed to listing, there is no hotub as listed. The hot tub doesn't matter to us, but may to some. 5 star's and will book again in the spring.

Summer Trip to Sargent

We had a great week at the Fishing house. Kate and Donna are always awesome to deal with (thank you both). The fishing in the bay can be a challenge in the warmer months, but we still had some luck out on the boat. And the fishing off of the pier was great as usual. Tip for pier fishermen: The activity seems to pick up significantly as the tide starts to come back in. And the later the better, so get that afternoon nap in. We'll be back again next year for sure. Thanks again.

fishing getaway

Our host, Kate, took great care of us. She was always available to answer any questions in a timely manner. The property was very nice, great location, good pier and a nice view. The fishing was hit and miss depending on the tide. We did manage to catch several big crab and some sand trout. The big fish of the trip was a 36" black drum. It took several minutes to land the monster fish, but we finally got him in. He posed for a few pictures before we released him back into the creek. It was a relaxing and memorable vacation. We look forward to staying again.

Great Experience!

This is the second time we have rented the "Fishin' House, and the third time we have rented from Kate at Caney Y. Each time has been a great experience. The house has wonderful views, and all the equipment needed to enjoy a great weekend. We averaged about 15 keeper crabs a day off the dock, and had great crab dinners each night. Kate and her team are right there, and arrived within a few mins, when we accidentally locked ourselves out in the evening......that's service. This time we discovered "the inlet" and enjoyed the beach at Mitchell's cut. we will be back again!

Waisted money

Won’t be returning. Cute little fishing house. No beach worth going to. Very high winds actually took the river away and left nothing but mud. So couldn’t fish or bbq. Spent one night and left. Warning high winds no refunds is in contact!

The Jacobs family who own it, appreciate the quiet getaway feel of Sargent and benefit from the awesome night fishing on their pier. Mike Jacobs is a committed Matagorda County resident having served on the Jackson Electric Board of Directors for many years.

Fishin' house is loved by families who want to fish but may not have a boat since pier fishing is lucrative. Also any who seek easy access to East Matagorda Bay by boat will be delighted at this location. Living area in house and large deck outside is perfect for visiting and relaxing.
