More salt than shroom
The place itself was fine - clean and neat, but a coffee maker would have been nice. The check-in was not so fine. After a 7 hour drive, we arrived only to be locked out. The access code did not work. After over an hour of calling, texting and messaging through the app., the property owner called back and said the new code was not updated on the app and apologized, but she was not very sympathetic and was rude. She said we were more than welcome to find another place and get a refund. Every hotel in town was booked, so that was not even an option. She was on a plane and I can understand why my calls were not returned right away, but the access code is a very important detail that should be a priority for the host/hostess to make sure is accurate for their guests prior to arrival. Overall the place was nice, but the host was not.
I wish I could tell you about my stay. I was in the house about 30 seconds before my 4 kids and I realized someone else was already staying at the house. I called the owner… she was very confused and quickly realized she had booked through two platforms on same weekend. She apologized over and over but nothing is scarier than being out of town without your husband and you suddenly have nowhere to stay. It was Family Weekend for my daughter’s college. I hadn’t seen my daughter in over a month and I was dealing with not having a place to stay. The dinners I wanted to cook for her friends, were not going to happen any longer. The family living area to watch movies and pop popcorn together with her friends, and our family was not gonna happen. The groceries I had bought ruined. After searching for a hotel for over an hour due to the entire town being booked for family weekend we finally found a room with a king size bed and a couch pull out for the five of us. The lady was apologetic and gave me my refund very quickly, which I appreciated. I’m sure it would’ve been a great weekend had we been able to stay at the beautiful home.
Upon arrival, the house had not been cleaned. Sink had dirty dishes, towels left all over the bathroom floor, beds were not made from prior occupants. Reached out to property manager for a complete refund as we had to get a hotel room. Owner would not refund me. DO NOT WASTE YOUR.TIME RENTING!!
Cozy, comfortable, and safe place to stay.
This house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and is just off the beaten path of Abilene. Not, advertised when we made our booking but the property has an RV parking off street. This could be a great place if you are needing a break from your RV for a overnight or weekend stretch.
