Very rustic, so peaceful, so many things to do, incredible views, so remote, a real feel for some time away enjoying nature. Enjoyed meeting the owners Dave and Rusty. They were very accommodating for anything we needed. A real hidden gem!
Nice and quiet place out away from it all. Between the lake and game barn, there was plenty to do for everyone. The hosts are very nice and were always helpful and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Happy Farm. They included so many amenities with no additional fee. The lake was amazing and we spent most of our weekend fishing and swimming. We will be back next year.
Myself, fiance and our two dogs enjoy a cabin retronce a year. This year, we were fortunate enough to stay at Happy Farm. It was relaxation at its best and we enjoyed the smores they left us to make over the fire pit.

Peaceful
Loved being away from all the noise and just relaxing next to a beautiful pond on a fantastic wooded property. Host was extremely friendly and informative. Dave is a great host. Loved talking with him! Would absolutely return if the chance comes my way!!!
Fishing was amazing. Rustic is accurate. If you want a getaway deep in the woods, this is the place for you. The lake is fully stocked, and the owners are very friendly. No washer and dryer, so take extra towels if you plan a long stay like we did. Pontoon boat was fun, and the kids loved the trampoline. The Smores were a nice gift waiting for us when we arrived.
The remote peacefulness of this location was amazing. Rustic isn't a valued word anymore. Wildly fun to sit on the patio of the cabin and just listen to nature and the rainfall, my gosh! We walked trails, played rounds of games in the gaming cabin. Swam and jumped off that pontoon a dozen or so times. The paddle boards were great too! We totally plan to go back and have already been making plans to see the Happy Farm family again!
We had a group of 7 stay at the property for an outdoorsy girls weekend and it was amazing! I would definitely recommend staying at least two nights, if only because it really is in the middle of nowhere and you've to take advantage of everything the place has to offer: canoes, SUP, pontoon (included and you take it out yourself), campfire, and trails on site. The one-shower situation can be dicey, but if you stay at the property - who cares? :)
Dave & Rusty were extremely communicative and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone in our group agreed that they would be keen to stay here again.
3 moms and 6 kids under 12 wanted an adventure outside the typical city life! We sure found it! Once we arrived we were in awe of the beauty of the lake. The cabin was rustic and adorable. It had everything we needed for our stay. The lake was so clean and the dock was big and well taken care for. There was so much to do there. The kids loved jumping off the trampoline and the pontoon boat and the adults loved floating and paddle boarding. At night we enjoyed making smores on the bonfire and sitting out on the large deck. Dave and Rusty were the best hosts! So helpful and kind. They have a lovely property and we are thankful they shared it with us.

Like our own resort!
My family of 9 had such a great time at the amazing Happy Farm! It's the perfect place to relax and have fun. The property is secluded and really felt like we had our own resort! The super sweet owners have a separate house on the property, but we didn't really see them much. Being so secluded, and no wifi and spotty cell service, it was actually nice having them on the property in case anything were to happen. The only thing missing at the property is a washer/dryer, but that wouldn't stop us from coming again. So many amenities we enjoyed- pontoon boat, water trampoline, canoe, kayak, paddle board, pool table, ping pong table, darts, foosball, cards, corn hole, firepit, and hiking trails. Highly recommend!

Over myall best getaway ever!
Such a wonderful place to relax and get away from life for a bit. Absolutely beautiful property rich in history with antiques and art work throughout. Rusty and Dave made us feel at home too. They provided everything a kitchen at home has plus a few extras. They even went out of they're way to get sourcream and ice. Inside and out there is so many special touches. And soooo many different things to do too! There is a paddle boat, canoes, kayaks, and a pontoon boat. Hours of trails to walk or ride a bike on too. And the wild life is in abundance. Rusty even had a birthday gift waiting for me when I arrived! And oh the privacy...they really try to stay away from us during our stay but kept a watchful eye in case we needed them. The cabin has games and tons of reading for us too. I could go on and on. Definitely will be returning. My husband and I cannot brag enough! Only thing we would change about the whole place is we wanted a fireplace during my stay. The cabin had a non working fireplace. My husband made up for it by building a fire on the deck. Theres a really great bonefire pit available. It rained the whole time so we didn't get to use it. We would DEFINITELY recommend this little gem!
So much fun fishing, swimming, playing together, and exploring! Nice people. Beautiful place!

Pure relaxation
Our family of 7 had a very enjoyable stay! Stunning sunrises, so many opportunities for outdoor activities (running, paddling, swimming, kayaking, biking, fishing) and then stars at night that were some of the best I’ve seen. Simple and pure fun was had by our 5 teens. Watching them bike/paddle/offer to go grocery shopping to get their WiFi fix made us smile.

Amazing place to unplug!!
My friends and I stayed here for Labor Day Weekend and this was the best place we could've found. The owners were so nice and welcoming. There was tons to do in and out of the water. I cannot recommend this place more.
This place is amazing! The kids (ages 2-8) loved the game barn, water trampoline, canoes and kayaks. Our dogs loved roaming around the property. Everything is there for a campfire. There was enough to do that you don't need to leave the property. The owner is super helpful. The almond cake waiting for us was delicious! Definitely will be back!
The hosts were the most amazing people and the property was the most peaceful, beautiful place.
I was amazed, will be booking and going back every year!!

Quiet, peaceful, secluded
We wanted a quiet secluded place to get away from our usual routine for a few days. The hosts were exceptional and delightfully shared the history of the log cabin and farm. We pontooned around the lake and enjoyed the trails through the woods. We were pleasantly surprised with the welcome treats.

Wonderful getaway!
Happy Farm was a perfect 3-day getaway for our family! Everything was so thoughtfully arranged, and the owners were very kind and accommodating. The cabin and Game Barn could not have been cuter. The lake was perfectly peaceful and clean, and the owners had a variety of boats and kayaks for us to use. Such an easy drive from St. Louis -- we'll be happy to return in different seasons!
This is a place for those who love history and nature. Old cabin memorabilia is fascinating to read. The cabin itself looks like it came from a fairytale. All listed amenities are present. Owners are very nice and attentive. Private pond is large and lovely. The forested lot is huge, and the property trail system is expansive and fun to explore.
I would highly recommend this place for nature lovers and families.

Relaxing getaway w/ recreation included
Whatever you like to do in water/nature, you can find it at Happy Farm! We were two adults, two teens, plus our dog, and we enjoyed: bonfires and s'mores, jumping on the water trampoline, fishing off the pontoon--caught a bass!, ping-pong and foosball in the game barn, floating on the rafts, driving the golf cart, watching wildlife--frogs and hummingbirds, reading on the swinging daybed outside, watching the NBA playoffs at night on the nice flat screen, and talking to David and Rusty and learning about the history of the local town, Advance, "Papa Doc," and the farm.
One of the best things is everything is included! All we brought was some food, drinks, fishing stuff, beach towels, and sunscreen. It reminded me a little bit of summer camp as a kid--rustic but comfortable and inviting with lots to explore. A great, safe getaway!
