Cabin was nice and spacious. My only complain would be that the towels and bedding did not feel freshly washed. The towels smelled like they had been left in the wash for too long and then dried.
The house is fantastic, so cozy, attractive and very well stocked with everything needed for a great get away. The ride up the mountain can be a little scary but it is the only way to get the magnificent view the house provides.
We stayed over Labor Day weekend. It was my husband, 3 children and their friends. We had a great time. The house was large enough to accommodate us all without being in top of each other. The deck and view was amazing. It is very quiet and relaxing. The drive up to the house took us a little getting used to but it was manageable. The lakes were fabulous and the hiking was incredible. I especially enjoyed the toys they had for our six year old. The board games were a plus too. The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked. I would stay here again.
Beautiful home but was a bumpy ride. We drove a one day, 13hr treck from Texas. We arrived around 11:15pm after our rental car literally shut down mid hill from the house.. getting up this mountain can be tricky! We walked up to the front door expecting to see a “Yale lock” as described multiple times on the check in instructions. There was no Yale lock on any of the three doors. We did however see some strange code contraption on the pillar of the entrance so we tried the given code there. It did not work. So after walking around aimlessly wondering if we are at the right house around 12am, I called the property manager who told us the strange box on the pillar is correct and that the code is different than the one given in our instructions. Thankful to have reached her, we unlocked the door and went in after such a long day. We enter to find an entire living room full of patio furniture which we have to move outside ourselves to the deck. We later try hand washing some dishes to have the dishwasher fill up with water and start leaking all over the place. Despite not being able to even wash our hands in the sink without the dishwasher flooding out, we were still asked to load the dishwasher and essentially deal with the water flooding from the machine as we are trying to pack up and leave. Very nice management company but terrible execution of getting us settled in. Despite all of this I would probably stay here again because we did overall enjoy our time in big canoe and loved the views from the house.
Our family had such a wonderful stay! The view is breathtaking. We enjoyed hiking in the community and sipping hot chocolate on the porch. Be warned that the drive up us a bit scary if you're not useto driving up mountains (we're from Florida). Finding the address can be a bit tricky if your GPS doesn't pickup the correct location. Luckily the property manager was very responsive and friendly and assisted us with anything we needed.
Overall we had a great time at this house.
Like in all other reviews, since this house is at the very top, the view of the mountains from the balcony was FANTASTIC!! The house was big enough to hold 4 families and many kids. Driving to this house for the first time(and each time) from big canoe north and main entrances was a bit scary as we are not used to driving in narrow winding roads on the mountains.
There was enough parking space to park 2 minivans, an suv and a sedan. The kitchen had plenty of utensils. There were lots of board games to keep kids occupied. The media room with Pool table was nice.
There were few things that bothered us during our stay: The bedroom door near the kitchen won’t lock and it needs to be repaired, as there was no privacy for the family staying in that bedroom. The garbage disposer in kitchen sink wasn’t working and it was very difficult each time to drain the water. The bread toaster didn’t work. The exhaust fans in a couple of bathrooms were not working and toilets were getting clogged a few times.
The marina in the big canoe was beautiful. We didn’t know that we had to book in advance if we have to rent the pontoon boats there, so we missed it.
Hoping those minor problems get fixed, I would definitely comeback to stay here or recommend this house to a friend.
The property is very nice. We could tell they have been working on some things. The appliances looked pretty new. The water heater was new we didn't have hot water and saw it needed to be turned on. All was great then. The only thing I wish we would have known was that the indoor pool needs to be reserved and it is $7 person for 45 minutes to swim. It gets expensive to swim with a family for only 45 minutes. The other pools were not open yet since we were there in early April. The view was stunning and the house very comfortable. We would definitely recommend it. It is a drive from the main gate but that was ok for us.

Wow on all levels!
We booked this place and only hesitation was the reviews about the drive up the mountain. Unfortunately we got stuck in Atlanta traffic, so got there and had to make the drive up the mountain in the dark. The lady at the gate did not help things by emphasizing how high up there we needed to go and all the curvy roads. It was extremely stressful and dangerous making the drive for first time at night not knowing the roads or being able to see well where we were going. It was dangerous. But then we woke up in the morning and had a beautiful view of the sunrise, it was spectacular!!!
The house was pretty much just like the pictures showed. The kitchen was very small for the size of the house and could use some updates. The refrigerator was broken, but when we called the management company was very prompt and had someone there very quickly, unfortunately though we had to deal with broken fridge. The beds were all very comfortable for everyone and the two outside balconies were breath taking. The place was not cleaned very well, as there were condiments left in the fridge, spices and coffee left in cabinets, socks left under beds, closets had used bathroom stuff in them. I would normally try not to look at this as a big deal, but with covid, it was a little bothering. We just ended up wiping everything down with lysol wipes so we felt it was clean.
It is the perfect place to go if you want to stay put and not go anywhere and just enjoy the house and view. But we had kids with us and the roads were so steep that you could not really just walk outside and go for a walk, roads were to steep. Not mad about it, and we still really enjoyed place, but I think it needs to be more clear in description that it is not that easy to go places when you have to do hike up and down mountain.
Overall, very nice house with spectacular view!

Shower was broken, address took you to a back gate that wouldn’t open (and created an additional 45 minute drive), and THEN I was charged an additional 25 dollars because there is no on site trash and you were supposed to drive it to a dumpster. That info is not told to you beforehand. It is apparently part of the fine print in the binder with the wifi password at the cabin (a 10 page binder that you are NOT told has important info in it).
This is a great house for either large families or if you're hosting a couple of families. Admittedly, it is a bit of a drive from the entrance of Big Canoe, but the views are worth it!
We spent 4 days here for a girls trip with 5 ladies, most in their mid-50's to mid-60's. The house worked fine for us, but it wouldn't be our first choice if we return.
Pros:
- Communication with property management was friendly and responsive.
- The house has lots of space! Great for a large group to be able to spread out or have some privacy.
- House appeared well-cleaned and stocked with the basics.
- Beds reasonably comfortable.
- Views are beautiful!
Cons:
- The home is older and in need of a spiffing up and repairs. Most are minor, but there are some windows and doors that don't lock. We could not get the lockbox to work properly. We got the key out, but could never close it back. Our group left a pretty long list of repairs needed on the questionnaire.
- The house is stocked with kind of the bare minimum. There is soap and toilet paper, towels and washcloths. No shampoo or other toiletries. I didn't see a hair dryer anywhere, but there may have been one in another bath. There is an iron and ironing board. I couldn't find extra linens and there were ziplocs with a few dishwashing pods and laundry detergent pods. I think we used all of both and were only there a few days. Lots of coffee equipment. There is a keurig, a regular drip pot, an electric grinder, and a French press. There wasn't much for other kitchen equipment, though. We were definitely missing our handheld mixer to make muffins, brownies, etc. There are lots of dishes and plenty of silverware.
- The biggest issue we had with the house was the stairs. There is no way to enter the house without descending at least a full flight of stairs. Inside, the house is 3 levels with only one bedroom on the main floor. This was a challenge in our group as every single person in our party has arthritis. We expected some stairs, but really wish we had known about the ones outside and that there was no place to enter without stairs.
- The house is sloping down the mountain. We noticed it as soon as we entered and thought we were losing our minds. But we checked several times and there is no question: the house isn't level. There is a distinctive sloping toward the rear of the house. On the upper floor, the slope prevents the doors from remaining open and the slope is visible in the kitchen table. I'm sure the house is probably stable, but it was a little unnerving.
- Parking is on a pretty steep incline, but there is room for 3 cars, maybe 4. You must be comfortable driving very steep roads.
It was a wonderful house with an amazing view. Everything we needed was right there. The only negative is that it was such a drive up to get to the house. But again, the view compensated for the length of the drive. We would stay here again. Many thanks.
The view was totally amazing. Plenty of room in the house. However, the kitchen counter space was a bit limited. Our family enjoyed our stay. A big plus was that there were tons of toys for the kids to play with.
We were nearly speechless when we saw the view. This place has panoramic views from every room, bedroom and bathroom! I cannot express how dramatic this forever view is. The place is also HUGE! Two kings, two queens, bunks and more. Excellent attention from hosts. Really nice grill on a massive deck. Did I mention the VIEW!!!!
