Just what we needed.

Nice place, well-equipped and great location if you like to enjoy some beautiful hiking. Hosts were very nice , accommodating, and responsive as well. Small town of Nederland has a couple of good restaurants and is fun and only 15-17 minutes away.

The property is perfect for a quiet get away. Everything was better than described and expected.

The cabin was everything we expected and more. Donna was very communicative and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The location was exceptional, and the beautifully remodeled cabin provided the perfect setting for our weekend. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone, and we will definitely be coming back to stay here again.

Spacious and beautiful, inside and out!

The cabin is lovely with tons of space to relax inside and out. The small touches here and there really add to the experience and help to feel welcome in the space. Outside is breathtaking and the tree swings were a favorite!

Summer 2023

This is our second stay at Dancin Bear Cabin and just as fabulous as the first time. We strive to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life in Michigan. We come to Colorado to see our oldest daughter and son in law, and this cabin is absolutely perfect. Within an hour drive of just about anything we want to do. Hopefully will be staying again in Summer 2024.

Comfy cozy cabin

Very comfortable cabin with all the amenities you need. The location is very wooded, pretty and peaceful. There's a sunroom on the back of the cabin that's great for chilling out and nature watching. Just a few steps away is a great trail through beautiful trees. Neighbors aren't too close and the cabin is easy to get to. Definitely stock up on supplies, as grocery store is a bit of a drive. Great place to tuck in and decompress for a few days.

Great People

Everything was just as they stated, and owners were very helpful on every question we had. They are the reason we decided to stay at this house. They replied to my email within minutes by calling me and then helped with places to hike and raft. Thank You

Front range hiking, stars, and cool summer air in beautiful Colorado

Roomy cabin with everything you need to enjoy your stay in the Colorado Front Range. Travel to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Nederland, Estes Park, Guanella Pass, Golden, Evergreen, or hike acres of trails in the Roosevelt National Forest in the backyard. Denver activities are within an hour. The owners are responsive and available, and we are very happy to have found this wonderful home for summer fun and relaxation.

Great launching point to enjoy the mountains

Had a great stay at the very cute cabin. Had everything listed and a well stocked kitchen with utensils. Make sure to remember/write down the entry code before you are out of cell reception. Once at the cabin the wifi worked well- but it was a great chance to disconnect. The owners were very quick and friendly at responding.

3rd year in a row!

We have stayed in Don and Donna's cabin now for the third summer in a row while we visit our son in Littleton, CO. This should tell others that we are very happy with the property. The only minor hiccup this year was that the shower appeared not to have been cleaned from the previous guests' visit. It was no big deal and we took care of it without bothering Donna. While we always consider other properties (for variety), we are very comfortable with their cabin and certainly hope to stay there in the future.

Wonderful Stay!

We were in a unique situation, days before our vacation we learned that another property owner had double booked us. We only had a few days to make arrangements for a backup and Donna came through for us. She worked with us and ensured that our vacation would not be ruined, as I was convinced at that time it was. We were able to book this cabin and were so thankful for the generosity. I think we had an even better vacation because this cabin was amazing!! The backyard is literally a forest and the upgrades in the house were endless. We were very comfortable throughout our whole stay. The deck was perfect for coffee and bird watching. We cannot wait for our next visit to Colorado, just incredible!

Great place to relax or get out and go. Easy access to hiking, skiing, fishing, etc .

This is a great cabin. It is very comfortable and charming. I found the outdoor deck and the screened porch to be where I spent most of my time when I was't off hiking. Watching the humming birds come and go to the feeders on the outdoor deck was a real treat. The cabin is located so close to so many wonderful locations including Rollins Pass, Nederland, Golden Gate State Park, Eldora, Brained Lake, etc. If you are a hiker, skier or fishing enthusiast this is a good base camp. And it is wonderful to come back from a day out to a place where you can fully relax and still enjoy the outdoors, even if it is raining. The cabin also backs to Open Forest space with a trail very near the house, this was a great spot to take my dog for his morning and evening walks. It can be a bit tricky to find once in the neighborhood so GPS is very helpful and I wouldn't want to do it in the dark but once you know where you are going it is a breeze. I was originally hoping for a little more seclusion as you can see the house next door from the deck but once I was settled in it was not an issue. I would rent from Donna again, she is very easy to deal with and quick to respond to any question, she even let me know of a road closure on the day of my arrival so I wouldn't be stuck in traffic. If you are looking for a nice updated cabin, with a great outdoor setting this is the place.

Cozy Comfort in the Woods

First of all, the owner was fabulous. She was easy to contact and very accommodating. The cabin is in a very remote location (no cell service) but having the hiking trails just out the back of the cabin was excellent. Yet, it is still close to Blackhawk and a good restaurant and liquor store just about a mile down the road. The restaurant even caters to dogs (on the deck in the summer). The cabin had everything we needed in way of kitchen and bath amenities. But two things I must note...the dining area does not have a curtain or blind on the window. This may not be a big deal to most folks as there is no cabin behind in which someone can see in, but may be concerning to others. Also, again most folks don't go to the woods/mountains to stay connected to the world (except my husband), but the cable/statellite TV is VERY limited (only a few channels). He was unable to stay connected to his sports and news shows. As noted, this may not be an issue for some (and it will not keep us from staying here again in the future, we will just be prepared the next time), but just wanted to clarify for those who may consider this when choosing a place to stay. If you are planning a stay in the winter months, be prepared as the roads near the cabin are not paved and would most likely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Overall, we were very satisfied with the accommodations and would recommend to family and friends.

Wonderful place to stay. The home was more than spacious enough for four people and a dog. We loved the den/enclosed porch off the bedroom. It's perfectly located for many hikes. Donna was so gracious and responsive.

Relaxing get away

We had a very relaxing stay at this cabin. Everything was nice. Only thing we would have liked better was if the living area had a recliner or chair to sit in. There was a couch and dinner table chairs only.

Everything about Dancing Bear Cabin was wonderful! Tucked perfectly away and yet we felt safe and secure being just us City gals! Loved exploring all the surrounding local establishments and the gift shops... There is so much to do just there on site too if you want to just escape and get back in touch with nature... Our second stay - as good as the first

We very much enjoy Don and Donna's cabin. We love having the Roosevelt National Forest as our back yard and the peace and quiet it affords. And we enjoy hiking and there are tons of trails in the area to choose from. The cabin is well stocked with kitchen essentials, which is important as we like to do a little cooking and grilling to cut down on the trips to the nearest town for food and groceries. Donna was quick to respond to a couple of questions we had in the first two days. The only minor inconvenience was that the outside trash container was already full when we arrived so we had to store our trash inside the cabin for the duration of our stay, as we couldn't put it outside due to bears possibly making a visit. This was our second stay in the cabin and we'll be looking to make a third stay in the future for sure.

Home Away From Home

Beautiful cabin that is comfortable and centrally located to all Gilpin County has to offer. Owners were helpful and friendly in every encounter. Short distance from Eldora Ski Resort, Blackhawk Casinos, Carribou Trail, and the city of Nederland. Cabin has everything you need to be comfortable and relax with the peace and quiet of being in the middle of the forest. Will definitely stay here again!

About the host

Hosted by Donna Brannan

Host profile image
Don, born and raised in Colorado married Donna, a New York Native over 38 years ago. Don has enjoyed the cabin since childhood, hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, fishing, climbing and exploring with his parents. We found a trail behind the cabin where a covered wagon had once tipped over. To this day old glass bottles can be dug up at this site. The trail opens to a large meadow and bubbling stream.

Why they chose this property

A family jewell passed on, now for others to enjoy as well. Colorado history abounds in the area. It is near Peak to Peak Highway which has the most beautiful sights available on the front range.

What makes this property unique

A huge feature is that the back door leads onto the Roosevelt National Forest. Hiking & mountain biking trails are feet away to springs and a nearby river. Wildlife prevails in the area; moose, dear and elk are common. Ghost towns and 4 wheel drive trails surround the area, and are a short drive away.
