We were looking for a place that would feel like a home away from home for a full week. We could not have dreamed up a better place if we tried! Pam and her team were lovely every step of the way. The property is so special. We enjoyed daily walks and sitting outside even though it’s a warm time of year. It’s just so picturesque! Highly recommend!
Lovely...even better than the pictures! Housekeeping was immaculate. Plenty of space for our family to either be together or spread out. Fun to peruse the library and beautiful decorations, and walk around the property. The host was very accomodating. Castle tour was a must! What rich family history! Thanks to Pam and Brittany
It was a beyond what we had expected! We had three nights in the carriage house, which actually was so well thought out with anll the extras we needed and comfortable! It had a 2 level garden/atrium room w stairs going up to the second level with wonderful books and bookcases and an extra bedroom with twin beds and a bath. Our family, with a total of 5 grandchildren and cousins live in Monroe, so we asked permission for them and their parents to come for the day and 3 of the youngest spent the night! All of them took advantage of the 5 acre grounds by passing the football and running and walking the area. There is a beautiful old ginko tree with golden leaves that had carpeted the area outside our accommodation and the 3 youngest enjoyed gathering the leaves and standing under as they showered down…..on repeat! The last night we ordered in pizza and sat out under a beautiful covered patio with lights, fan and comfortable dining furniture! The hostess Pam was a delight to visit with and hear some of her family history. We hope to return and tour the castle some day!It truly is a magical treasure right in the middle of a neighborhood…. Convenient to anything, yet with a coded gate surrounding the property so no problem with safety.Needless to say, we enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend!
We were in town for an event at ULM. I cannot say enough good things about this entire property. We are still talking about it weeks later. The carriage house almost has a sense of magic to it. Everything we needed was there. Only situations I would not recommend it for is very small children as the house is immaculately decorated. We cannot wait to return in the future. Drinking our morning coffee in the solarium was probably our most favorite part of it all. Communication from host was also frequent and helpful.
We had the BEST time at Layton Castle. The carriage house is such a fun place to stay. Between the sunny solarium, the second floor balcony with shelves packed with books, the beautiful exposed brick and dreamy morning light coming through the bedroom windows there is something beautiful to see everywhere you look! ….and that was without even leaving our suite. Right outside the primary bedroom of the carriage house - in the beautiful courtyard - is a fountain that we very much enjoyed listening to as we fell asleep each night. The grounds are gorgeous, especially now with the magnolias starting to bloom and the beautiful hydrangeas everywhere! There are plenty of cozy seating areas about, but my favorite was under the tree out front - especially in the evening. Swinging under that big tree with the fairy lights and a view of the castle just after dark was absolutely magical. MOST IMPORTANTLY, Pam the host is incredible! She was so kind, helpful and accommodating! She even came out to chat for a bit, made friends with our dog, and she was all around absolutely wonderful! The other staff members that we met were very sweet as well! Our entire stay left us feeling extremely welcomed and you can tell that a lot of thought and care is put into making your experience the best it can possibly be. We will, most definitely, be visiting Layton Castle again - and we’re already looking forward to it!
