Great location at the winery next to the lovely creek, on site restaurant and lovely grounds. Convenient to Stone Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway, plus other wineries. The inside was nice though the HVAC wall unit was loud and right in the bedroom. Outside seating was a plus though a bit dusty. Very easy check-in and out.

Lovely stay by a gorgeous stream in the midst of nature. The property was well appointed with thoughtful touches such as frequently used spices in the kitchen and long matches for the firepit, grill and large stone fireplace. A variety of comfortable seating choices for meals and leisurely discussions in the open air. A great place for a couples weekend with friends as each of us had our own "cabin". While we stayed in "Birch" there are others available. The sound of the water from the river through the screened door was magical. The delicious restaurant steps away on an open air porch is also a draw. The restaurant and winery had limited hours which kept everything private and quiet each evening for the guests. Close to Stone Mountain and we also were able to attend a festival in a neighboring mountain town. We plant to come back, for sure!

The Great Escape

I live in a technology driven environment 24-7-365, and I needed to be at this winery. We stayed at the Birch property and found it to be the perfect getaway from life’s constant distractions and daily annoyances. When you stay at this property, you are relieved of the stresses and pressures of everyday living, and presented with the chance to disconnect from the world and the opportunity to actually breathe. We didn’t do much during our 3-day stay, but that was the point. I wanted a relaxing place to enjoy nature, drink some great wine, eat some excellent food at Chez Josephine, and disconnect from the world. Mission accomplished. We didn’t take advantage of the amenities provided such as the communal fireplace, the provided grill, and the games and activities that you can enjoy in the property. We just took the opportunity to hit the proverbial “pause” button on our life and were so happy to have chosen Roaring River to do it at. Sure, there is capable internet and a Roku enabled TV in the unit, but when you stay here, that’s not the point. This is where you go to disconnect, unwind, relax, ignore the world, and appreciate your loved ones, nature and your place in life. I look forward to the opportunity to decompress here again.

Can It Get Any Better?

This was our 3rd stay at The Lodgings and it only gets better! The Tasting room is open now which makes a quick lunch and glass of wine (or 2;) so convenient - just a short walk from our cabin! Sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful views and sounds of the Roaring River are heaven. Can't wait to return!

Three buddies and I met up to spend a weekend away from home. We specifically wanted to trout fish in the nearby Stone Mnt. state park. The fishing in the park was very good and to our great delight, even better right off the porch of our cabin. The grounds were full of flowers and the sound of the river put us right out each night. Fantastic !!!!!

Beautiful getaway

A friend and I stayed over a weekend and had a most relaxing experience. We grilled dinner both nights and dined beside the river. The hosts were incredibly charming and welcoming. Nothing has been left to chance with this getaway location. Anything and everything has been provided for your comfort and fun. We fished two days at Stone Mnt. State Park only 10 min drive away. We also had great success trout fishing right out our cabins back door.

Memorial weekend 2024

The place was wonderful except for the extremely musty smell. That being said the management and owner were extremely responsive and offered us the upstairs unit as an option. Very kind. We did not partake since we had unloaded. Would stay again upstairs or if assured the mustiness had been taken care of. Again so pleased w the concern and responsive we received. The property is beautiful.

Tranquility

What a beautiful vineyard, good wine, and great staff & owners. We spent 3 nights in the Birch Unit which has an outdoor sitting area, fire pit, and grill. We enjoyed sipping the delicious “Rock and Roar” red wine (award winner) while having our dinner watching the moon light up the River. The rain was welcome and made the River live up to its name. So beautiful. We used the hot tub every night. Slept like babies listening to the River.

Who needs wine? We come for the gorgeous scenery and serene privacy!

We visited Roaring Rivers last year and stayed in the Serendipity Cabin, and this year wanted to try one of other units. Birch was lovely - about twice the size as the cabin, with a separate bedroom, full sized bath, and comfy living room/kitchen/dining room with a comfy leather couch and coffee table for relaxing, and a patio right outside our door overlooking the river, with a couch, foot stool, a small dining table, and a private fire pit (Serendipity packs an amazing amount of stuff into a small space, but has no separate living room or couch). Both had incredibly well stocked kitchens - usually when I rent lodgings on VRBO, I bring along a few kitchen essentials (knives, cutting boards, a decent pot or pan or two) because I've found most have few supplies and they're of poor quality. This time we didn't bring anything but our groceries, and the only thing we needed but couldn't find (a can opener) our ever friendly and helpful hosts got for us in moments. We visited the tasting room last year while it was still under construction, barely more than a frame of a building, and seeing the finished project, we couldn't stop saying WOW - the decor is a gorgeous combination of modern and rustic, with furnishings and a gorgeous wooden bar that are amazing. But we're not wine drinkers... the real draw for coming to Roaring Rivers is the river, the beauty of the grape vines, the lovely property, and the privacy! Adults only? Awesome. Picnic in the vineyard? There's a perfect clearing in the middle of it with a domed rock with one lone tree growing out of it, perfect spot for a picnic. We brought our light up bocce set and played at night - the horse shoe court and bocce court are lovely, but we enjoyed playing on the lawn. The beach and tire swing area are beautiful and great for daytime shady relaxation and nighttime stargazing, and we love bringing our river tubes and hiking up the river and tying off in the shade for a snack and relaxing in the rapids before tubing back down (just be forewarned that this is a treacherous trek through uneven river terrain, especially if you're inexperienced, and if you try to do it without really good water shoes and a good walking stick, you're likely to fall many times and/or injure yourself). We came for a few days with all the groceries we'd need and didn't leave the vineyard the entire time, there was so much to do there, and it was deliciously relaxing. A wonderful getaway! We'll be back!

After initial (2) concerns were quickly remedied, we had an excellent visit and stay. The location, right on the river and nice tasting / light food. Initially the hot tub was scalding hot, and too hot for entry. This was remedied. The bed mattress was excessively worn out and unsupportive. This was remedied by relocating us to another unit with acceptable mattress. All communications were prompt and our concerns addressed promptly. The property location is first rate spectacular. Close to Stone Mountain State Park. Thank you, Chance Smith, Elizabeth City, NC

It’s a wonderful venue to enjoy drinking wine and not worry about driving country roads afterwards. Cozy suite with fire pit right outside back door and next to the appropriately named Roaring River. Full kitchen and propane grill makes it easy to eat in.
