About the host
Hosted by John Magruder
My wife Brenda and I live on the coast of Maine and first came to Bonaire in 1995. The one you really need to know about is our property manager and co-host Leanne Pinkerton, a wonderful human being who will reach out to you when she receives your contact information and help you any way she can. Before you arrive, she can share recommendations on dive shops, car rentals, restaurants or try to answer any question you have. She will meet you when you arrive to show you the house and hand over keys. If there’s a problem with the house, she’ll do her best to take care of it. Here’s Leanne’s story: “I first came to Bonaire to scuba dive in August 2009. It was love at first sight! I was living here permanently by December. Shortly thereafter I began welcoming visitors as a vacation rental property host. I love my island and I love to share it with everyone. I work very hard to ensure my guests enjoy Bonaire and to ensure my owners have a home they can be proud of in sharing with visitors.”
Why they chose this property
We spent a lot of time on the Cliff dive mooring (directly in front of the villa) during the five years we lived on Bonaire on our boat. We decided this was our favorite house and favorite neighborhood on the island. Then it came up for sale. We were NOT looking for a house but how often is your favorite house in your favorite neighborhood available for sale when you are looking? Within a day, we talked ourselves into buying it. It is a private residence with private grounds within the Hamlet Oasis resort (but technically not a part of it). It’s pretty in here and it’s peaceful and quiet. No road noise. No barking dogs. Just the sound of the waves breaking on our beach. Yet it’s a few minute walk from two dive operations, good restaurants, a supermarket and a 5 minute drive to downtown Kralendijk.
