Charming!

We really enjoyed our time at Casa Loca Roca. The house is clean, well-equipped and feels very private and safe. The property manager was super helpful and welcoming. If you're just looking to get away from it all and have a relaxing time this is definitely a good choice.

Sweet life

Casa Loca is party for many, dinner for four, sleeps 2. The incredible outdoor lower rancho allowed us to host almost the totality of the Finca, Los Cardones staff. The hammocks provided were the perfect siesta in the breeze spot! Upper rancho seated 6 nicely for dinner without insects. Bed is in a loft and mattress & bedding are high end. Olivia, our assigned housekeeper changed the color scheme of the sheets every week and we played a guessing game of what hue they were going to be. Jader, the gardener watered the lush garden 3 x/week. The plants kept the outdoor living space enclosed and totally private. Our dogs loved to lie on the cool stone patio. As surfers, we were glad for the 10 minute walk to the beach which kept us nice & fit throughout our stay. However bicycles would have been very nice. Staff &, neighbouring home owners made our stay in Nicaragua memorable. Now, we are quarantined with great memories

Winter Getaway

Our family had the pleasure of escaping three feet of snow and spending a lovely week at Case Loca Roca in February. We took advantage of arranging transportation and grocery shopping through Janelle which proved to be worth it. Janelle is a great host that is around as little or as much as you need. The house is well equipped (kitchen needs, games, books, air conditioning, t.v., and dvds etc) and the outdoor living space is absolutely wonderful when it is 90 degrees by lunchtime! Access to Los Cardones is a great bonus for this property. My husband was able to rent a surfboard for the entire week, all varieties to choose from, I scheduled yoga classes that would fit our schedule (not that it was too busy), signing up for massages was easy, dinner was great, and the 'cabana' was a great shaded area for our daughter to play in the mornings, afternoons, and sunset trips to the beach. Hands down the warmest and most hospitable hosts. I even caught the security guards playing peekaboo with our daughter. Very few clocks to track the time and no one rushes for you to pay your bill (Los Cardones will run a tab for you and you settle up when you are ready). We would love to go back and do more exploring of the region- Janelle can arrange most of that for you when you get there, so there's no need to plan it in advance. This is a great option whether looking for complete quiet and relaxation, adventure and exploring or a mix of both.

Casa loca Roca

I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks at casa local roca which is simply amazing, The house was unbelievably well equipped and maintained, so many areas to relax and eat or drink in the huge rancho at the back, only a few mins walk to the basically virgin beach serviced by los Cardones Ecolodge and a short walk from Gran Pacifica (if you feel the need to embrace a resort) Janelle took care of every need and is one of the happiest people you could wish to meet ! I absolutely recommend that you stay here if your looking to get relaxed unplugged and worry free. Ill be back for sure !

As good as we hoped

Our stay at Casa Loca Roca was everything we hoped for and more. The outdoor area, including the outdoor shower, was awesome and our favorite part of the house. The only problem we had was that we really wished we had more time to enjoy this fabulous property. My wife and I were looking for a remote place to spend 3 nights and Casa Loca Roca really filled the bill but we were not lacking anything. The staff at the beachfront eco-lodge, Los Cardones, were welcoming and provided great service. We really enjoyed our horseback ride on this beautiful isolated beach. The walk to the beach was close enough that we walked there every morning and back again for each gorgeous sunset. Janelle arranged for us to be picked up to the airport and for us to go shopping for groceries before arriving at the property. We really enjoyed cooking almost all of our meals in the well stocked and well maintained kitchen. We were really able to unplug, kick back and relax during our short stay and we highly recommend Casa Loca Roca. We would love to return and stay longer on our next visit.

Perfect place for a surf mission- convenient, close to the waves and comfortable.

Casa Loca Roca is a great place to stay. It is close to the beach, has AC, an outdoor shower and a really nice kitchen. The back porch area is huge and the bird life is amazing. We ate some meals at the lodge and did our own cooking, so either way you are covered. We stayed over a week and really enjoyed it and will be back the next chance we get.

Repeat Offender

This review is waaaay overdue; I was just recommending the place to a friend and realized I hadn't written one for my last visit. So here it is. :) This was my second trip to CLR, and I found the house in great condition and immaculately clean. I brought a friend this time, and we planned to stay three days; we extended to over a week. Once again, Janelle the property manager helped arrange transport and shopping, and she and her family checked in on us and helped make our stay memorable. There is some construction going on at Finca Del Mar, but it in no way disturbed us. It is still a very quiet place, and the house is placed off the "main" road in the community, and backed against a green space. There are no immediate neighbours; go ahead and enjoy that outside shower. The bird life that can be seen (and heard) from the back patio is amazing. Your only disturbance might be a truck or ox cart coming by to refill your water tank. Yeah, that pesky ox cart traffic;) When we felt the need for distraction, we had a great time watching World Cup at Grand Pacifica and Burrito Bandito, as well as cold sunset beers at Los Cardonnes surf lodge. I love this place. I feel different here, and so will you. I'll be back.

Amazing house and location

We can't say enough positive things about this house, the location, and Janelle (the manager). Everything exceeded our expectations. The house is beautiful and well-appointed, and we really appreciated the coffee maker, games and books. The location was peaceful and safe with great weather and wildlife. Janelle helped us take care of all of the logistics, including transportation to/from the airport and grocery shopping. We had a great routine including long walks, surfing, taking advantage of services at Los Cardones (massages, yoga, horseback riding), and reading on the patio. Would recommend for couples seeking relaxing adventure.

A perfect getaway

I don't know how Dave found this slice of heaven, I am just glad that he did and that he is willing to share it with others. I was looking for a place off the beaten path to disappear for a couple of weeks during the holidays and I for sure found it. The house is in the middle of pastures and woods with a small creek in the backyard and very few neighbors within site. You feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, all by yourself enjoying the peacefulness and relaxation of the day. You forget there are other people around until the the water cart hauled by two steers passes by on its way to Los Cardones and the herd of oxen, horses and donkeys come next to the house to graze. This makes you realize how special and amazing this place is and that you aren't alone but instead in a place that hasn't grown to fast or out of control and remembers the importance of the balance between us and nature. Awesome. The house is perfect for a couple of people, Dave has have made it a comfortable and quaint home with all the modern amenities you could need. And the outdoor space is the most amazing part – huge, open air seating and lounging spaces to fill your day with a book, cold drink and siestas. Janelle, the property manager is a very special person who goes the extra mile to meet all your needs. She arranged transport and shopping for me in Managua and then met me at the door with a smile and hug. I feel like old friends and know that I will be back to see her again. I wanted to get away by myself but having Janelle and Los Cardones nearby allowed me that freedom but never feel truly alone or unsafe. Janelle was always just a phone call away if I have any needs and she checked in on my frequently. Having access to Los Cardones, 10 min walk away, to utilize their space and activities and enjoy their food made it feel like home. Everyone who works there and was staying there are friendly and interesting and it was fun to enjoy a cold beer and the sunset with them and hear stories from around the world. The beach is amazing - you can walk for miles in either direction and enjoy shell collecting, watching the birds and surfers and maybe see a large sea turtle lumber up the beach to lay a nest. Absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to go back and started planning my next trip before I even left Casa Loca Roca.

Incredible place to stay

One of the best decisions I made this summer was spending a week at Casa Loca Roca. Dave has designed the ideal vacation home. Just a few minutes from the beach in a secure, shaded location, CLR is beautifully designed with some of the most spacious back deck area I've ever seen. The pictures don't really capture the amazing outdoor space ideal for napping, sipping afternoon Flor de Cana's, dinner parties, Cards Against Humanity...you name it. The house itself is very comfortable. The shower and batheroom are spacious and the water pressure is excellent. The outdoor shower is incredible (I probably used it more). The kitchen is spacious and has a windows which open to the back Patio. The rock climbing wall on the side of the house is a huge bonus (people actually stopped to ask us about it on a couple of occasions). The setting is peaceful and private, but the Los Cardones and Grand Pacifica are both a short walk and both serve drinks and have pretty good food. Still, we did most of the cooking from the house's spacious and well-equipped kitchen. The surfing in the area is really good (beach breaks and a hammering left barrel), and Janelle, the property manager, has everything dialed when you arrive. Plus, her husband Dan has a great sport fishing outfit going. Basically, the house is comfortable, really well detailed (Dave's DVD collection is solid), comfortable and located in an area that offers lots of stuff to do or total tranquility. Before I got there I was thinking of staying a few days. I had to be practically dragged out of there after day seven. Thanks a bunch Dave, we had a blast.

Simply Paradise!

We love Casa Loca Roca! It is a beautiful house in a fabulous place. We had a week stay and wish it had been much longer. The house is very comfortable, great breeze through the house all the time. We really did not need the AC the entire week. Loved the Palapa behind the house…spent most of our time there! Perfect for morning coffee, listening to the local birds, taking a nap in the hammock and yoga. We chose to visit the nearby resort, Los Cardones Surf Lodge for dinner. Food is amazing! Los Cardones also offers yoga and be sure to schedule you massage early. It's also perfect for the after surf beer. Janelle the property manager was amazing from our first contact setting up our airport pick up and any of our needs to leaving a treat in the refrigerator on arrival. We went fishing with Dan, the best fishing guide. Truly enjoyed the day on the water. Our time at Casa Loca Roca was much to short, but we will be returning for more. It was the perfect spot to unwind. We can't wait to go back!

Love it!

My stay at Casa Loca Roca was much too short, but I intend to make up for that next time! I was traveling alone, and felt very safe and happy the entire time. The setting is beautiful, and the house is very comfortable with a lot of character. My favorite thing about it is the huge outdoor living area, which really lets you enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. If you are wondering if it's possible to spend an entire day in a hammmock, I'm living proof! Los Cardones Surf Lodge is just a short walk away, and is a great place to grab a beer and a meal after a day of surfing (or hammocking). The food is amazing, and the staff is great. You can also get a great massage there for very cheap. Of course, no review would be complete without a shout out to property manager Janelle, who was so helpful and made me feel at home immediately. I really can't say enough nice things about Finca del Mar, and especially Casa Loca Roca. I can't wait to go back!

Exactly what we were looking for!

Casa Roca Loca was everything we hoped for. My boyfriend and I stayed here for 10 days, and will return again in the future. Quiet, secluded, and a short walk to the beach. The property manager Janelle couldn't of been any better, as she arranged transportation to/from Managua (as well as Granada and a few other Nica destinations) and was kind enough to fill our shopping list from the local markets prior to our arrival, both for reasonable small fees. The locals were as nice, friendly, and as hospitable as we were told. The beach and surf breaks couldn't of been better.

Amazing vacation!

I had such an awesome time at Casa Loca Roca, it is an easy place to fall in love with! I enjoyed every second of it and found I was stress free after the first swing in the hammock. The house is amazing and it's soooo close to the beach. I learned how to surf, went for long beach walks and read many books while lazing under the palapa. I love looking at the pictures so I can relive it all!! ;) It was a perfect getaway in a perfect place. Thank you....can't wait to return!

Quiet and fun surf house

We spent 6 days here in November of 2012 and found Casa Roca Loca to be a great place to stay for surfing and relaxing close to the beach at Los Cardones. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with all necessary amenities (dishes, towels, bedding, etc.). The porch on this house is amazing, we spent most of our time out on the porch eating at the big table or lying in the hammocks. The outdoor shower was great to rinse off in after returning from the beach. Four of us stayed here (two couples) and we were all totally comfortable. My girlfriend thought the house and area were safe, quiet, and peaceful. The property manager was very helpful and responsive. We wouldn't hesitate to return to spend more time at Casa Loca Roca or Finca Del Mar, we loved it!
