Our hostess was so nice, attentive, and a joy to communicate with. The property was beautiful and the cabin very private. It was a great place to just be. We loved being surrounded by farmland, wooded hills, and the sheep.I absolutely recommend Etienne as a host. She treated us very well. Her dog was very sweet, and the property itself is spectacular.Unfortunately, I have a hard time recommending a stay there. The cabin and kitchen/bath area at the house were clean and well furnished. However, the cabin felt and smelled like being in a garden shed with no ventilation. A screen on the door would go a long way to letting the room breathe. Finally, the kitchen and bath area smelled very much like cat urine. I don't know if there actually were cats in the house, but that is how I'd describe the smell. It was very overpowering. I am sensitive to those kinds of things. If you aren't, then please do enjoy a stay there.

If you are looking for a unconventional place to unplug and unwind, the Cheese Wedge Cabin is a charming getway. Etienne is a lovely host who made us feel welcome and comfortable on her farm. We got up close and personal with the sheep, chickens, and Phoenix the sheepdog (who is the gentlest giant and steadfast companion). We had plenty of privacy in the cabin while still being close enough to get anything we needed from the private guest kitchen & bath connected to the main house. Another reviewer suggested bringing extra slip-on footwear, and we're glad we did. It is a working farm with freerange animals after all, so it's best to remove your shoes to keep nature outside. This area of Wisconsin is well-known for it's blending of nature & the arts, and Etienne's Heartsong Farm fits right into this landscape.
