The ranch and area are beautiful! It was perfect for myself. Only wish it was warmer so I could sit outside and take it all in! The Hosts were amazing, attentive, polite…something a lot of places lack. I will absolutely be back!
This was a little slice of heaven. The welcoming feeling hits you as soon as you walk in the door. The hosts thought of everything you could need for your stay. We got a mini tour of the farm. Unfortunately we missed out on a tour with Tate. But we plan on going back so he can show us the rest of the farm
We had an excellent stay! Check-in and check-out were super easy. It was very clean and comfortable with a fully appointed kitchen. The hosts were friendly and attentive. We hope to stay again and enjoy this unique and beautiful location.
We enjoyed our stay and visiting the horse stalls. Tate gave us a tour, we enjoyed visiting with this "little man". Other reviews are pretty accurate. If you like horses, this is a nice place to stay
We loved the ranch and the bunkhouse. Owners and their staff were so friendly and welcoming. The ranch is beautiful and we loved seeing the beautiful horses. Close to town but a world away. Quiet, peaceful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the ranch. If we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely stay here again!
Perfect stay. Wonderful hosts, beautiful location, loved everything about it. Only suggestion would be some ice trays to make ice. Thanks for sharing your special place with us.
Excellent location and experience. Instructions and guidelines were outlined in advance and accurate. Bunkhouse was very clean, neat, organized, and accommodating. We checked-in on Friday afternoon and met friendly ranch staff who answered a few questions for us. Saturday morning my wife and I enjoyed coffee, a walk on the property, and then explored some of the trails at dusk. Sunday morning we met Tracy, Michelle, and their son as they started morning chores, got a tour of the horse barn, and spent several hours hiking. We certainly recommend the Lazy 4T Ranch and we will stay again in the future.
The bunkhouse was quiet and cozy. The bed was soft; the bath towels were huge and plush. There was a basket of snacks waiting for us and a large decanter of cold, ionized water in the fridge which was delicious. The place was not cluttered, and since it had the "open" concept, it was a rather large area. Even the bathroom was nice size. The owner was so nice and approachable. On our second night, we were sitting out front, and he came and talked to us as he was taking his horse for an evening ride. We highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.

Unit physically was fine. Wonderful bed. Kitchen and bath okay. TV great, shower a little small but water was hot.Shortcomings: No washing machine in unit, only a note saying washer was in the next door office, and no one was in the office except for the evening we arrived. There was a fire pit in front of the unit, but no firewood. And worst off all, the book said to put out the trash, but the dumpster was two hundred yards away from the unit.Best feature was the bed. It was extremely comfotable and we slept the best we have in months. Also some inconsistencies. Online check out time was listed at 11 a.m., while the book had it at 10 a.mThe book also said not to wear shoes in the unit, but this was not mentioned.
The Bunkhouse was very clean but not stocked with some basic essentials like toilet paper and coffee pods. The Welcome Basket clearly had only the few leftovers from the previous booking. Michelle provided the essentials promptly when we asked. The downside to this booking is that it shares a wall and door with the Ranch Office. We had no idea that was the case (from the property description) and so the first 3 hours of our stay, we were able to hear every conversation and phone call they had. Again, in the morning, when the office resumed work. We knew we were staying at a working ranch, but the description about the shared wall needs to be included.
Great location, excellent communication. Cutest little tour guide. They do preface their listing with the fact that it is an active working ranch. In the middle of the night, one of the horses in the barn that is connected to the guest house must have bucked or something. Scared us lol. So I would definitely say make sure you are OK with hearing numerous horse noises throughout the night because there were plenty. It’s not a place to go and sleep in. They are in that office talking pretty loud bright and early. Definitely would benefit from a slow door closing spring or something because they do go in and out a lot and when the door slams, it shakes the entire guest house. This place would be perfect for anyone that wants to get up early, go enjoy nature, horse back ride, etc. We were just there for a concert. But would love to bring my daughter back to ride.

Disappointed
My intention when I left this particular Airbnb was to overlook the lack of privacy and remote location and rate the bunkhouse a 10/10. What I mean by lack of privacy is bunkhouse shares a wall with their office. You can hear their conversations while they are on the phone and I’m sure they can hear ours too. Also to access washer/dryer you have to go thru office, they are not in your space. However, the uncluttered room was super cute. All amenities listed were provided. I was happy with the size of room. A ceiling fan while you sleep and a long mirror to check your outfit before you leave would have made this a perfect stay. The Husband/owner was very nice to my husband and I. He even stopped his work to show us around the property. The reason for my disappointment comes after the stay. An oversight on billing and an assumption of property damage was made by the wife. Proper communication could have prevented this misunderstanding on her part. This is the reason I can not recommend a stay here.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the space and that Tracy was able to show you around the property.
We do want to respectfully address the damage claim, as it has been characterized as an assumption. Prior to your stay, you notified us that your dog would not be able to go with you to Ft Knox for the graduation ceremony,we agreed that your dog would be crated as our pet policy requires dogs not be left unattended. We were working in the barn during your absence and could clearly hear your dog barking and moving freely throughout the space — it was not crated as agreed. Upon your checkout, we discovered significant damage to our comforter from pet urine. This was not an assumption — it was documented and submitted to Vrbo with photographic evidence, which was reviewed and upheld.
We genuinely appreciate your kind words about the space and about Tracy. We take our guests' experiences seriously, which is why we also take property damage seriously. We wish you well and hope your son's graduation was a wonderful celebration.
Lazy 4T Ranch is a real, working horse and cattle ranch in Elizabethtown, Kentucky — and it's the life we've always dreamed of building. Michelle and Tracy Thompson have been building a life together for over 32 years, shaped by wide-open land, hard work, and a deep love for horses and cattle. Tracy is a fifth-generation cattleman, born and raised in West Texas, who has been riding and training horses his entire life. He competes in the National Reined Cow Horse Association and the American Ranch Horse Association, and has trained horses and students at every level for decades. His philosophy is simple: build the horse right, and the results will follow.
Michelle is the heart of the ranch — co-owner, manager, licensed realtor, mom, and creator. She handles the day-to-day operations, manages the guest accommodations, and brings the kind of warmth and attention to detail that makes every guest feel like family from the moment they arrive.
Then there's Tate — their 11-year-old son who has been in the saddle his entire life, already competing and winning buckles, and who loves nothing more than giving farm tours and introducing guests to his favorite horses. In 2023, we brought our life to Kentucky — turning a piece of rolling bluegrass country into the kind of place we always envisioned. A working ranch where the old ways still matter, where horses are treated like family, and where the door is always open to people who share that same love for the land.
The name Lazy 4T comes from our family brand. The "4T" represents our family of four. The "Lazy" speaks to the unhurried pace of real ranch life. It's not about doing things fast — it's about doing them right.
We'd love to share this life with you. Visit us at lazy4tranch.com.
Why they chose this property
Why We Chose This Place
When we found this piece of land outside Elizabethtown, we knew it was home before we ever signed the papers.
Rolling Kentucky hills, lush green pastures, and winding trails stretch out in every direction — the kind of landscape that makes you slow down and breathe differently the moment you step out of the car. The sound of birds at dawn, horses moving through the pasture, and the rustle of the trees in a warm Kentucky breeze — it's a world away from everything, and yet just minutes from town.
What we love most about this place is the quiet. Real quiet. The kind you can only find when you're surrounded by open land and good neighbors. The people out here are genuine — the kind who wave when they pass and show up when it matters. We've built real friendships here, and that sense of community is something we felt from the very first day.
We love watching the sun set behind the hills, seeing the stars come out over the pasture at night, and waking up to the sound of the ranch coming alive in the morning. There's nowhere else we'd rather be — and we mean that. We chose this neighborhood because it felt like the life we always wanted to live. We hope it feels that way for you too.
What makes this property unique
What Makes Us Unique
Most vacation rentals give you a place to sleep. We give you a place to live — even if just for a few days.
Lazy 4T Ranch is a real, working Quarter Horse and Angus cattle ranch. When you stay here, you're not looking at a painting of ranch life — you're in the middle of it. Horses in the pasture outside your window. Cattle on the property. A family that has lived and worked this land every single day.
What sets us apart: A fifth-generation horseman as your host. Tracy Thompson has been training horses and working cattle since childhood. He competes in the National Reined Cow Horse Association and the American Ranch Horse Association. When he talks about horses, he's not reciting a script — he's sharing a lifetime.
Experiences you can't get anywhere else. Private trail rides through breathtaking wooded trails and open pastures. A hands-on Ranch Life Experience where you'll saddle up and work real cattle on horseback. Farm tours led by Tate, our 11-year-old ranch hand who knows every animal by name. These aren't tourist attractions — they're the real thing.
Boutique-level comfort on a working ranch. Luxury linens, a premium memory foam mattress, spa-quality towels, Kangen water, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private patio with a BBQ — because there's no reason ranch life can't be comfortable.
Horse-friendly. Bring your own horse. We have stall and pasture accommodations available — because some guests wouldn't have it any other way.
A family operation. Michelle, Tracy, and Tate are here. This isn't a property management company. It's our home, and we treat every guest like they're part of it.
