What we intend to become our retirement home in a few years, our 1300 sq. ft. home is on the Anclote River between the Greek Sponge docks and the Gulf. Grill fresh fish and set up dinner on the dock, then boat out to the keys. Play golf nearby, hike or bike the Pinellas Trail that slips through the center of old Tarpon Springs. With 2 bedrooms, 4 beds, we are set up for a very comfortable relaxed vacation for 4, with a pull-out queen in the living room for the occasional visitor. We have replaced all the appliances. Our HVAC is sterilized at the intake with a UV filter to keep the environment healthy even for sensitive souls, like us. A laundry room and garage keep things comfortable. The best place to spend time is on our dock with a floating platform, which allow easy access onto our kayaks, or a small deck for grilling or relaxing
We have two bicycles for your use, and a great Necky tandem kayak as well as a solo that give you intimate access off our dock to the river and bayous.
Per Tarpon Springs zoning regulations our minimum stay is now 42 days.

Great little bungalow. All the stuff you need is there, and the place is very well kept. Wonderful spot on the river, with t a floating dock portion that allows easy kayak launching. Great neighborhood.
A perfect setting to relax and rejuvenate on the Anclote River. We enjoyed fishing, watching the birds, strolling the sponge docks, eating seafood, and watching the boats go by.
Lovely home on the Anclote River. Peaceful neighborhood, and beautiful view from the Florida room. Sponge Docks just around the corner; beaches, restaurants, shopping just a short drive away. We plan to visit again.

Thanks for your good communication! We are glad you enjoyed our home, and would certainly like to have you back.
The home was neat, clean, and easy to stay in. Kitchen was well furnished. We thoroughly enjoyed the screened porch overlooking the river and watching boats, as well as fishing from the dock. Easy location for tourist activities and a variety of dining out. Highly recommend for a couple or small size family. Scott and Betsy made the use of their home easy and welcoming.
Everything was as described and very clean. Kitchen was well stocked. The sea kayaks were great and easy to launch from the floating dock. We enjoyed exploring the bayous. There were several manatees wintering in Spring Bayou which was fun to see. We loved the Tarpon springs area and plan to come back to the house.
We stayed at the house while visiting grandkids and family. The home was perfect for our needs. Able to relax in the living room or on the screened porch. The deck is comfortable with a table and chairs. Our grandkids loved the dock. We fished and watched sting rays swim by. The tranquil neighborhood is just what we were looking for.

Ideal setting
939 Bayshore is a lovely, comfortable home on an idyllic setting. The view of the boat and pelican traffic on the water offers hours of entertainment. Osprey, heron, ibis, and egret ply the waters while dolphin swim past. Truly gorgeous. The house is comfortable, the hosts accommodating. An excellent choice for a laid back holiday.
This is a lovely and well appointed home with lots of wonderful nearby activities. We enjoyed having use of kayaks and bicycles. We could walk or ride bikes to the beach. We saw dolphins while kayaking the nearby bayou. We saw the manatees in Spring bayou. Good fishing in the Anclote River and Whitcomb bayou. Had a great week of fun and sun at this beautiful property.
Betsy and Scott's vacation spot is the perfect place for relaxation. During our 8 night stay, dolphins visited regularly just off the dock and we had a great egret come up on the deck. Kayaking is well worth it, the rudder made paddling in the wind a breeze. And the location is perfect: quiet (we barely saw any neighbors), but still close to the beaches, restaurants, and shops. The highlight of our trip was renting a boat and spending the afternoon at Anclote Key Preserve State Park. We found more shells and sand dollars than anyone could want. We would love to come back. Thank you!

A Spiritual Escape
A much needed refuge from the storms of the world. We could not have imagined a more relaxing stay. The small house is right on the Anclote River and includes all the amenities to take advantage of one's stay. We loved sitting out on the dock in the morning to catch sight of Osprey, Kingfishers and Herons. In the evenings we enjoyed grilling seafood and dining on the lanai while watching the sun set. Scott and Betsy have a jewel of a home. If we fail to close on our own place, we hope to return. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Scott and I are planning to retire to this wonderful spot, eventually. When we spend time there we are mostly working on house projects, so far. It's very satisfying to hear that you appreciate what we love about our home!
Betsy and Scott’s home on the Alcote River in Tarpon Springs, is a delight. Beautifully kept and a wonderful out look over the garden and dock. I loved whiling away a few hours in the Florida room especially first thing in the morning and the evenings.
My husband enjoyed the dock for fishing and watching all the boats going in and out everyday, just as well as the fish weren’t too keen to bite! There is plenty to do and see in the area. Betsy was very friendly and helpful to deal with. Thank you for having us. We would recommend a visit.

We were delighted to have guests from Scotland enjoy our quiet bit of waterfront.
Do come again!
This property is beautiful ! If you enjoy lazy days on the water in a comfortable setting, it's perfect for you. We enjoyed the property either in the sunroom, on the patio or on the dock the whole week. Close to the sponge docks and restaurants/shops and boats. Groceries near by, along with a great produce stand. We enjoyed dinners on the patio almost every evening. The house was extremely clean, well equipped and the beds /bath comfortable.
We enjoyed the local wildlife, seeing a great variety of birds ,dolphins and even a daily visit from a neighborhood cat.
I loved my week in Tarpon Springs at this so much. I hope to return to this special place again soon.

Dana,
We are so glad it surpassed your expectations. Do come again!
The property was exactly as represented in the VRBO listing. It was clean and well stocked with any item that you may need or had forgotten to bring.
We enjoyed our stay and look forward to one day returning - 1 week was not enough time to enjoy this wonderful property and all the nearby activities. The property was conveniently located near any retail facilities that you may want to visit but not to close to the tourist crowds.
The backyard dock on the Anclote River was absolutely wonderful. We spent a considerable amount of time decompressing from our daily routines just sitting on the dock soaking up nature. We saw dolphins, manatees, and countless birds. The twisted live oaks on the property were also amazingly beautiful.
The only thing that could make this property better would be that my husband and I owned it.

What can we say? It is a delight to have someone enjoy what we do when we spend time there! Come back soon.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! The house is in a quiet neighborhood but is close to downtown Tarpon Springs, the Sponge Docks, restaurants, the grocery store, and Fred Howard Park. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the dock, nice breeze, seeing the boats go in and out, fishing, and watching various birds. We kayaked, rode bikes, laid in the hammock, and played cards at night out in the spacious sunroom. Everything was great, and we really appreciate Betsy and Scott sharing their home and having everything we needed.
Excited to share our 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review of this idyllic home on the Anclote River in Tarpon Springs! We were looking for something “different” than the usual “beachfront” and came across this jewel! Think “Olde Florida” with live oak trees, lush tropical shrubs, and an inviting dock on a serene river! We had an absolute stellar week and loved the mixture of exploring the sponge docks and embracing the local Greek culture 🇬🇷 and restaurants! The food…Opa! So good! We also explored nearby Dunedin and their fun downtown shops, pier, and food. The interior of the home itself had a great “retro” vibe which brought back fond memories of growing up in Florida during the 60s and 70s! The laidback Florida room was the top spot for relaxation while enjoying the river view! Location is in a very nice and easily walkable neighborhood and also convenient to the sponge dock area and groceries, etc. The owners were great and super easy (and fast!) to communicate with. Our time “on the river” will be forever special to us and we will most definitely return as soon and as often as we can!
My husband and I have stayed here several times, and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. Scott and Betsy are excellent hosts, and respond VERY quickly to any questions. Lots of things to do in Tarpon Springs and the nearby communities; there’s something for everyone. It’s also relaxing to just stay put and view the Anclote River from the dock (dolphins are regular visitors), or putter around with the kayaks.
This property was perfect for our visit. Very easy access. Wonderful waterfront. Amenities way beyond what you would expect in a vacation rental. Definitely hope to get back there sometime.
Wonderful and well appointed. Very nice and well kept old school Florida home. It was like going back in time and visiting my aunt when I was young. Location was great.Very close to local beaches and shopping. Outdoor area was just so picturesque. Dock area was very nice and we caught some spectacular sunsets and a few fish. I would definitely recommend and would for sure go back. We had a great time. Thank you!
Awesome house on the river - close to everything - very clean and has everything you need

About the host
Hosted by Scott and Betsy Taylor
Scott is an airline pilot, Betsy an artist, who are happiest near the water. Life-long sailors who summered on sailboats in Maine, and a lake cottage in Southern Ontario, our home was inland in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY. We have recently moved to the Boston area, nearer to two grown children (and our grandchildren). Our 3 year old grandson loves fishing or lying on the dock to observe the dolphins hunting together, watch the crabs and lizards in the mangroves, or the eagle battle it out with the ospreys in aerial stunt flying.
Why they chose this property
After visiting the Tarpon Bayous and Anclote River and Key for years, friends found this sweet location and talked us into buying it to upgrade and share with them. Purchased from the family of the original home on 'Pioneer Point', we are in love with the setting and are continuing to improve the home. Because we use it as a second home it is outfitted as we need a home to be! The newest project is a dock rebuild with a ramp to a floating dock for kayak access. Shallow draft boats can tie up to the pilings.
What makes this property unique
A delightful water view from the house, and the dock is a favorite spot to gather for watching birds, dolphins, the local fishing fleet and the sunset. Direct access to the Gulf or in to the Sponge Docks in kayaks is a great activity with so much to see. Well around the bend in the road, it becomes a quiet, private neighborhood, safe from through-traffic, yet a fun bike ride or boat ride to the beaches. Kayak south to the Greek Sponge Docks for great food and entertainment, to the bayous, or north to Miss Vickie's to eat lunch on the water. Boat out the river to Anclote Key for serious beach and swim time. When indoors, newly installed central Air super UV filtration system keeps the home allergen-free.
