About this property

Eagle Ranch Railway Retreat

All aboard! Stay in our historic red caboose turned tiny home at Eagle Ranch. Nestled by lakes and farmland, it’s the perfect spot for unplugging from city life and enjoy some fishing, kayaking, swimming, roasting smores on the fire, and stargazing in the hot tub. Inside you can relax by reading in the library, playing games, or streaming tv. The caboose has a pull-out queen sofa bed that fits the cozy layout.
It's truly a unique stay where nature, history, and adventure meet!

The space
Our caboose is located in beautiful Spencer, Indiana on a large family-owned ranch. It’s a working Ranch so you may spot some workers nearby or areas still under construction. We try to give you your space during your stay though.

Ask about booking a farm tour to see our wide variety of animals- we don't have just your typical farm animals either!

We are located about 15 miles from Bloomington for college events and about 10 miles from McCormick’s Creek State Park. We are under an hour from both Cataract Falls and Brown County State Park.

Guest access
Our guests have access to the caboose, the lake and dock, sand beach access, year-round hot tub, kayaks, grill, and fire pit.

Unless accompanied by a ranch member, please do not touch or feed any animals on property. Do not unlock or open any gates.

Other things to note
*Please do not touch or feed any of the animals on the property for safety purposes.
*Stay parked on gravel roads only.
*No illegal activity or parties.
*We are not responsible for any injury or damage to your property or yourself.
*It is only 2 people max allowed to stay at caboose, and no visitors due to liability.
* If under 18, please ask permission first. This area is not child friendly yet due to high spaces and steep stairs.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Amazing Experience

My wife and I chose this place because we wanted a new experience. The idea of turning a caboose into a tiny home was spot on. The area on the lake on which the caboose sits is picture perfect. It has everything you need. The host is attentive to your needs and responds very quickly to any questions. There is a lot of wildlife to see and tons of animals on the property who are cared for by an amazing staff. You will enjoy this property and will come back again.

We wish we had more time to explore! With only having a one night stay and coming in later in the evening, we missed out on some fun possibilities. Waking up the next morning to the beautiful lake, we were wishing for our fishing poles! We would have loved to have had time for a campfire and a dinner on the pier. I would have loved the opportunity to sit in the watch chairs and read one of the many books provided. We did have a chance to enjoy the board games, as well as the picnic table on the pier for a Sunday sermon via the wonderful wi-fi service. The caboose was very clean and had we had time to cook, the kitchen looked very well stocked. The quiet solitude of the caboose was perfect after a hectic couple of days!
