Start your journey in Hinternah, the most beautiful district of Schleusingen, located directly on the southern slope of the Thuringian Forest, not far from Oberhof, Suhl, and Coburg. Hinternah means relaxation in a quiet setting within the “Thuringian Forest” Biosphere Reserve—pure nature, friendly people, and the chance to savour Thuringian cuisine. Bicycle and hiking trails pass right in front of the house. Here, you can enjoy the beauty of the natural landscape, breathe in the clear, fresh air, and explore the Thuringian Forest. For cyclists and cross-country skiers, the Thuringian Forest Nature Park offers many regional and national hiking trails and cross-country ski trails. Hinternah’s toboggan run is located right in front of the house. From Hinternah, visit, for example, Bertholdsburg Castle in Schleusingen, the historic Vessra Monastery, the winter sports resorts of Oberhof (biathlon, bobsleigh, and tobogganing competitions) and Schmiedefeld, as well as the cities of Suhl with its vehicle (Simson) and weapons museum (weapons manufacturing since 1536), Eisenach (Wartburg), Erfurt, Weimar, Jena, Meiningen, Hildburghausen, and Coburg. In the summer, the Ratscher mountain lake and the swimming pools in Schleusingen or Erlau are perfect for swimming.
An introductory pottery course (building techniques) is included with a one-week booking of the holiday apartment upon advance registration. Only the cost of materials applies.
Handmade pottery is also available for purchase.

Special highlights: Take a flight over the Thuringian Forest in a glider or light aircraft. Upon request, we can arrange these activities for you. For motorcycle and quad bike riders, there are excellent tours on scenic roads and trails through the Thuringian Forest. Storage space for bikes (with or without engines ;-)) and ATVs is available in our private garage.
You can experience a cultural highlight at the Steinbach-Langenbach Open-Air Theatre or the Meiningen Theatre (South Thuringian State Theatre).
Mountain bike tours can start right outside the door, heading into the Rennsteig region and the Vessertal Biosphere Reserve.
Professional tour briefings, tour guides, and top-quality bikes can be arranged.

Winter Information: There’s a large toboggan run right outside the front door. Sleighs can be provided free of charge. Groomed cross-country ski trails are located nearby. Downhill ski slopes in the Rennsteig region are just a few minutes’ drive away. Skis can be rented on-site. The Rennsteig region of the Thuringian Forest is characterised by unspoiled nature and diverse landscapes.
