About this property
Spacious Home, Private Pool, Tennis Court, Lake, Minutes From Town and Shopping
There's a lot to love about this casually elegant home. Biking, kayaking, fishing, hiking, lakeside cocktails, chillin at the pool, ping pong in the playroom or simply listening to vinyl on the vintage turntable are just a few of the activities to be enjoyed onsite. Explore vineyards, restaurants, shopping and the famous caverns and Shenandoah National Park nearby.
The house itself is fully equipped, exceptionally clean and well maintained. Large rooms throughout feature hardwood floors polished to a shine. Beautiful windows in every room invite you to explore the view. This home is tastefully decorated with a mix of antique and modern furnishings as well as oriental rugs and original artwork. Situated at the heart of a large family farm, the property is conveniently located minutes from the interstate and from downtown Staunton. Yet, it feels like it's worlds away.
The entrance of the property passes through a manicured wooded drive. Upon arriving, you'll park in a circular driveway. Walking through boxwood gardens and a slate patio, you'll enter the back door into the kitchen. You'll love having your morning coffee on that patio and your family will enjoy their breakfast at the large kitchen table.
The first floor offers a master bedroom with a king bed, a fireplace, a seating area and a full bath. The suite is down the hall from a cozy den/study. The walls in the den are covered with custom walnut bookcases milled on the property, and filled with good books and a small T.V.
Off the kitchen is a playroom with lots of fun stuff including a comfortable seating area, ping pong table, large screen T.V., and a vintage turntable with a wonderful collection of vinyl. Also off from the kitchen is a formal, whimsical dinning room with seating for 12.
A flagstone hall will take you into the sunny living room with it's large, central fireplace and built in bookcases. The modern furnishings tastefully combine with the antiques and an oriental rug.
The ornate wrought iron staircase leads to five more bedrooms on the second floor, with seating areas, more built in bookcases, cedar closets, and even a secret staircase. You and your guests will have plenty of room to spread out.
While the house is grand, the views are breathtaking. The large front yard showcases the panoramic view of rolling hills, meadows, and mountains. A poolside gazebo offers another fabulous view, as does the tennis court. A walk down the hill will bring you to a lakeside view. We provide bikes to get you there and kayaks, (with life jackets) and fishing poles to enjoy once you arrive. The sunsets over the lake are the best, so we recommend cocktail hour lakeside with a fire in the firepit to finish off a perfect day.
Well designed and carefully planned, the comfortable elegance of this property is waiting to embrace and impress your family and friends.
This home is a destination itself. But, if you can tear yourself away and if you're into sight seeing, local attractions include Shakespeare's Blackfriars Playhouse, PLENTY of vineyards, Woodrow Wilson's Birthplace, the American Frontier Culture Museum—and that's just within a ten minute drive. Or, head to the mountains for a really good hike. After dark, visit any number of restaurants and bars in downtown Staunton or just crank the volume on our turntable, and dance to Motown until the sun comes up.
Be sure to check the bustling cities of Harrisonburg (I-81N, 20min) and Charlottesville (I-64E, 40min).

About the host
Hosted by Liz Schreiber

Gaie Lea was built during the 1950s as the dream home of a growing family. Lovingly upgraded over the years, Gaie Lea exudes the casual elegance. Situated at the center of an operational farm, the home remains in the care of the family who grew up inside its walls. Availability is limited due to frequent family functions and events.
Why they chose this property
While there's an abundance of cultural and outdoor activities within minutes of Gaie Lea, we recommend making time to explore Bells Lane. Our little country road is 3-miles long and quite a popular dog-walking and jogging destination for locals. Even the local high school cross country team trains here!
The location just couldn't be better.

What makes this property unique
Gaie Lea has something for everyone: ping pong, badminton, hike through the fields, canoe and fish in the stocked pond, take a dip in the luscious swimming pool overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains, or play tennis on the home’s private court.
