Clearly close to the volcano which is amazing, but an outdated hotel. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The bathrooms are tiny and don't feel clean. Soaps provided in the shower smelled horrible.. like roach spray or something. Convenient location to the volcano is the only reason to stay here.

The Volcano House is an excellent place to stay and watch Kilauea. We were fortunate enough to see an eruption event while we were there and lucky to be able to stay at The Volcano House as they closed the rest of the Park. The hotel reception was unfortunately pretty rude, which is not related to this VRBO listing. I would recommend staying here, however be cautious that the listing is not necessarily what you will get. According to the listing I reserved 3 rooms with 2 full beds in each. What we were assigned upon check in was 3 rooms each with a single king bed. This did not work for our party of 8 (4 adults and 4 teenagers). The hotel was fully booked so there were no options to trade rooms, thus I did not contact the VRBO property manager as there was nothing they would be able to do. Thankfully the hotel staff was able to obtain 2 rollaway beds for us and the rest of our stay was perfect.
