Such a precious place and so close to restaurants but nestled in a very quiet beautiful neighborhood. We spent a lot of our time just waking around admiring the gorgeous houses.
We had a great stay here. Lisa and Scott were friendly hosts and the property was just as described. It was clean, comfortable and in a really convenient location. We highly recommend staying here!
Wife and I had a fantastic time in Grand Haven and staying at this place. Wonderful cozy place to stay at the owner are very friendly. Very short walk to downtown. Will defiantly stay with them again the next time we’re in Grand Haven!
Lisa’s place was bright and fun and she was very kind and helpful. We were able to walk downtown to shop and eat. Grand Haven is a beautiful place and the sunset over Lake Michigan is incredible.
Took my daughter who was turning 30 and her friend and met up with family at the beach. Great little place to stay and very close to the main street in town.
The apartment looked just like the pictures - adorable! The colors are so bright and cheery. My husband and I wanted a quick weekend getaway and this was the perfect spot. We love Grand Haven and even on a cooler, drizzly October weekend we walked to the downtown quite a bit. It’s close to everything.
The location was excellent-close to Grand Haven downtown as well as river and Lake Michigan waterfront. The rental was clean and cute.
However, the rental is attached to the back of a house and there are 3 rental spaces in very close/tight proximity. I have rented in Grand Haven a few times and for the cost of this rental I was a bit disappointed.
We chose Lisa’s apartment for location, size and amenities. The apartment has a whimsical beach vibe with all amenities making for a very comfortable stay. Clean, convenient and charming sums it up. Lisa is a gracious host especially when her guests misplaced the key late one night. Without a hint of annoyance she let us in. Fortunately we found the key soon after!

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Check-in, communication
Lack of communication
There were pros and cons with this property. Location was great. The property not so much. The floors were slanted and felt unsafe. There was very little communication with the owner about check in and laundry such as (towels and washcloths). I wish there would have been some information on all the places to see and food recommendations in the area. Instead of renting out this unit, the other unit felt and looked more spacious and safer. This particular unit should not be rented out. In fact, we left a day early.

Interesting review, first ever negative. This has consistently been a 5-star property before this absurd review. Yes it’s a historic home built in the 1880’s with lots of character. Some floors in charming, older homes are a bit slanted, but not unsafe. We provide very detailed instructions for our guests, and we live onsite -again, first time we’ve ever heard this. There were enough towels and washcloths for six people (there were two guests?). Evidently they thought they were staying at a hotel because they put a laundry basket of used towels and washcloths outside their door, so we thoughtfully laundered them and returned them. Again, first time ever in 10 years, but happy to do it (another example of why we have earned a Super Host rating). We love Grand Haven and enjoy making personal recommendations of things to do and delicious restaurants where the locals go to every guest, both at check in and during their stay. And visitors also refer to the internet when looking for something other than what we suggest. Yes the two bedroom apartment is more spacious than the one bedroom. The bizarre safety comment is so interesting, since we have high standards for our personal home and the city of Grand Haven inspects licensed rentals regularly. We’ve enjoyed hosting MANY return guests to our home from all over the world, and this hugely inaccurate review is the ONLY negative one.
Can’t say enough good about this VRBO..other than this place was our jam! We (4) rented the upstairs unit..1 Queen Bedroom/Bath, 1 full sleeper couch+ porch+full kitchen with supplies- it is a rustic unit but has retro/beach design and we just loved it - it has a window air conditioner but we were 100% comfortable…Lisa was amazing with suggestions and is onsite, quick to respond via the app re:booking and while on property- greeted us when we arrived. Small cooler and ice bag along with beach chairs provided. While downtown and the beach are walkable, I suggest driving..use the city beach (no fee) for sunset - then the musical fountain downtown and street games/foods/boutiques. A larger unit is also available downstairs with 2 bedrooms- we hope to visit again - Thank you for sharing your vibe with us…it was a great weekend to reconnect with our daughters and enjoy Father’s Day !
We were very disappointed for the amount of money that was paid for this “upstairs apartment “. This was NOT disclosed in their information on the VRBO posting. Its states second story historic home which there are many second story historic homes throughout the neighborhood so it was shocking to find out this was a small upstairs apartment. It does not state this anywhere in their posting. My friend is recovering from cancer and had a very hard time with the stairs which was not disclosed. VERY MISLEADING. The front porch is pictured on their posting and it is NOT for guests, only for the owners. A very small 4x4 porch is what guests have to use with a view of the driveway. Why would owners even show that if you do not have access to the front porch? It was not worth 673 for two nights. The price of the rental includes a cleaning fee yet guests are asked to walk their garbage down the stairs to their garage and dispose of it which I did not do. We left this apartment very clean like we found it. Very poor quality toilet paper. 4 Keurig pods for 2 people staying 2 full nights and no coffee at all for the full service coffee maker. We had to buy coffee.Very disappointed with our stay. Owner needs to be honest and specific in the details of their rental. We would not stay here again.

We are very sorry to learn of your disappointment in your stay at our second story apartment. Although it is clearly noted on our listing, it seems you must have overlooked that detail. If you check the listing, you will see it shows “Apartment” right at the very top and “Apartment” also populates when using the search criteria on VRBO. Our home is in fact, historic, and we rent out 2 second story apartments above our main living space. The home is shown in it’s entirety on our listing so guest are able to easily identify the property upon arrival. The photos also show the stairs leading to the apartments in which our guests reside. Lastly, we do send check-in instructions to all guests the morning of check-in, which clearly state guests must use the entrance at the rear of our home, and follow the stairs up to the apartments. Naturally guests need to use stairs to access a second-floor apartment. We do have other local properties we could have possibly moved you to, with fewer (or no) stairs, had you mentioned your friend’s struggle with reaching the second floor. We do wish her the best in her recovery as we are all too familiar with the challenges this presents firsthand in our immediate family and close friends.
The front porch is pictured in our listing, simply because we need to post a photo of the front of our home for property identification purposes. Nowhere in our listing does it state the porch is available for guest use, although guests sometimes join us on the porch and yard.

Nowhere in our listing does it state the porch is available for guest use, although guests sometimes join us on the porch and in the yard. The listing does however state there is a balcony available for use. The balcony is pictured in the listing photos as well. The balcony measurements are 10x7 (not 4x4 as you stated) and has a coffee table, two comfortable wicker chairs and a matching loveseat, all with matching cushions and pillows.
Cleaning fees are an industry standard, and check-out requests are simply that; requests. It is helpful for our cleaning staff to have garbage moved out to the bin, so as not to walk into unpleasant scenarios/odors after having sat for a period of time. It helps to ensure unpleasant odors don’t linger, and insects are not drawn in. Check-out requests such as this are common with VRBO properties. You’ll likely notice these requests during future stays. We did notice you didn’t fulfill the check-out requests, and our staff went ahead and took the steps you declined to take. We did however gave you a generous review on your stay.
Our listing does note we offer both a standard coffee pot as well as a Keurig coffee dispenser. We do not list “coffee” as an added amenity, but we do like to provide a few Keurig pods as a courtesy, to get our guest started. The toilet paper we supply, also not listed as a provided amenity, is there as a courtesy for guests (along with paper towel, dish soap, salt and pepper, etc.) until guest run out and need to refill with their own supply. The toilet paper brand we supply is POM, and again, is an industry standard brand which we have never received a complaint about. We’ve made a note and will monitor for future complaints, but this is the first one we have received in over 12 years as VRBO Premier Partner and Superhost.
We do hope you enjoyed your time in our beautiful town and that you consider the points made here for future vacation bookings to avoid any additional disappointments. It is very unfortunate that your 2 star rating will have an effect on my long lasting 5 star rating.
Best, Lisa
Great Location to be able to walk all around downtown Grand Haven. Cute neighborhood for walks too.
The property was exactly how we expected. Very cute! It had all the amenities we needed for a weekend away. Would rent it again. The things I would add would be a welcome sign on the door just so renters know they are at the right place. We didn't know if we were walking through the correct screen door or correct door up the stairs. It does say it sleeps 6 however, I am not sure 6 adults would fit.
