About this property
La Mistraline, Fantastic Village House in the heart of Provence, 2 Bdrms 2 Baths
Perched in an ancient hilltop village that overlooks panoramic vistas, is this newly renovated, authentic Provençal house with modern comfort. You enter through a private, walled Roman courtyard into a charming & fully equipped kitchen featuring a vintage, yellow Lacanche range, a new dishwasher, new refrigerator & freezer, microwave and prep areas for more than 1 cook in the kitchen. Of course, this house is owned by a chef! The kitchen sink with its brass tap is set under a window so you can looking out into the courtyard like a Hollywood setting. There is a farm table with seating for 6, a good place not just for dining but to check your emails or regroup with your travel companions before heading out for the day's or night's activities. A new large glass door floods the rooms with light and slides open to a large terrace with a marble bistro dining table. The terrace is the perfect place to have your morning café and croissants, afternoon aperitivo, dinner you shopped at the local farmer's market, a bottle of Ventoux wine grown nearby, or to just stargaze the expansive night sky. The kitchen coffee station with an espresso/ cappuccino maker, drip coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster is stocked with a selection of coffee, tea & sugar, making sleepy mornings easier. A spacious, open concept dining / living room completes this end of the house with soaring ceilings, new large windows with views of the village and its Castle dating to 900. Antique & contemporary art, lighting and furnishings keep this space cozy and stylish. There is a mezzanine above the living room set up for relaxing with TV or a place to read a book or local magazine. Ot the other end of the kitchen, up just a few steps is a hallway with a large Provencal style built-in for hanging jackets, clothes or storing your luggage. A couple more steps down the hall and you enter the dreamy first bedroom with its own balcony outside of a set of original French doors for watching those famous Luberon sunsets. The second bedroom is on the next level and accesses the rooftop terrace offering expansive views for miles. Each bedroom has a new bathroom next to it, each with its beautiful design carefully considered; one has a new LG washing machine should you need to do laundry. There is also a small garden area off of the entry courtyard for relaxing.
It is a truly magical house in a dramatic landscape that must be seen to be appreciated.

About the host
Hosted by Michele Duval

I have lived all my life in New England. In 1985 I bought my 300 year old house in Maine that I've lived in for 40 years now. It was in teardown condition otherwise I would have never been able to afford it. I've been renovating and customizing it to my imagination ever since.
I am a retired chef/ restaurant owner / wine sommelier. Buying this house in Provence was a dream I've had since childhood. I think it was my name, Michele Duval, that initially formed that dream. When I was very little, the Beatles song, Michelle, was on the radio and it seemed every adult sang the French lyrics of that song to me and then as a teenager, friends sang it to me and now as an adult, still to this day, sometimes people break into that French part of the song when meeting me.

What makes this property unique
I have yet to see another house with the magical three- story high, walled inner courtyard that this house has. It sparks your imagination the second you step into it with its Roman and Spanish influences.
Luckily, the fun and beauty of the house doesn't stop there!
