Stayed at this private island cottage over the long weekend with friends, and it was honestly perfect. The cottage was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed — fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, and plenty of space to hang out.The island itself felt super peaceful and secluded. We spent our days swimming, kayaking, and lounging on the dock. Nights were all about bonfires and stargazing. If you’re looking to unplug and reset with good people in a beautiful spot, this place nails it. We’re already talking about coming back.

We all had an amazing stay at this cottage!! Check-in was a breeze, and our host, Francis, was exceptional. He loaded us and all of our belongings onto his pontoon, took us over to the island, and showed us around while explaining how everything worked. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it feel just like home - nothing was lacking. The WiFi was impressive and reliable, which was a huge plus when I needed to work on my laptop. We can't say enough good things about his little piece of paradise. Thank you so much, Francis and Lannie! You truly are wonderful people and we can't wait to be back! :O)

Grandfather's Landing was the best experience my family has had with a VRBO property. Francis was a gracious host. You meet him at his home on the Ontario side of the river. A 10 minute pontoon ride kater you are on the island in the middle of the St. Lawrence Seaway. The island had all the toys the kids needed to stay on the water for hours. The property was relaxing. We used the gazebo to watch the big ships go by in the channel. Francis was nice enough to shuttle us back to shore so we could go spend a day in Montreal (an hour away). The cabin was well equipped with everything needed in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. We also made great use if rhe grill on the porch. I couldn't recommed Francis and Lannie's property enough. 10 out of 10.

Thanks Brad and your wonderful family, it was my pleasure, to have you all stay at grandfather landing. I am glad the children had plenty to do with standup boards, kayaking, and using that sauna. I am sure watching the big ships pass Ing through was nice. Hopefully you had a great drive through Syracuse University. Thanks again for the nice comments.

Francis was a great host. We had a group of 7 on the property making full use of all the beds. We enjoyed the personal watercraft (paddle boards, kayaks, and canoe), the sauna, and the hot tub. The Blackstone Was perfect for cooking. We enjoyed the privacy of the island. Francis was a great host. Very easy to communicate with.

A Little About Us

We were both born and raised in the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory, so this area is much more than a beautiful destination to us—it’s home.

Lannie spent many happy summers growing up on this very property, surrounded by family, water and the kind of simple moments that become lifelong memories. One of the reasons we chose to open the property to guests was to give others the opportunity to experience that same sense of fun, connection and peaceful island living.

One of our favourite parts of hosting is watching guests arrive and seeing their excitement when the cottage and waterfront first come into view. We love knowing that families, couples and friends are creating their own special memories in a place that has meant so much to ours.

For us, hosting is not simply providing a place to stay. It’s sharing a small piece of home and making sure every guest feels welcomed, comfortable and well cared for from the moment they arrive.

Why they chose this property

A Place with History, Heart and Room to Unwind
Jacobs Island is one of the many islands that form part of the beautiful Akwesasne Mohawk Territory. The island was once owned by Louis Lazore and was later passed down to his eldest son, Tommy, who eventually entrusted this special piece of land to Lannie and Francis.
Over the years, the property has been thoughtfully transformed into a spacious and relaxing waterfront retreat while still keeping its strong connection to family, community and the island’s history.
What we enjoy most is the peaceful rhythm of island life—the sound of the water, mornings with coffee by the river, afternoons spent paddling or relaxing outdoors, and evenings gathered around the fire as the sun goes down. It is a place where couples can slow down, families can reconnect and larger groups can enjoy spending meaningful time together.

What makes this property unique

The experience begins before you even arrive. Because the property is accessible only by water, your stay starts with a short boat ride that instantly separates you from the noise and routine of everyday life.
Within about 10 minutes of leaving the mainland, you’ll arrive at a spacious island retreat surrounded by water, fresh air and the slower pace that makes island living so memorable. It feels wonderfully removed, yet you’re still close enough to the mainland for convenient access when needed.
Unlike a typical cottage stay, guests can enjoy much more than a place to sleep. With the hot tub, cedar sauna, firepit, gazebo, kayaks, paddleboard and generous outdoor space, the property is designed for guests to spend time together, relax and make the most of the waterfront setting.
Francis is available to assist with complimentary boat transportation and any questions that come up during your stay, so you can enjoy the adventure of an island getaway without the stress of figuring everything out on your own.
It’s private enough to feel like a true escape, close enough to be convenient and memorable enough that guests will be talking about the boat ride home.
